Weird Al is so talented the part where the animals were walking backwards he actually had to sing it backwards. He did a video talking about how hard it was and how when he walked out for an awards show with the braids and how Coolio thought it was hilarious.

I'd be careful about doing the parody before you have heard the original. One thing a lot of reactors miss is the break into the Gilligan's Island theme song "no phone, no lights, no motorcars, not a single luxury....". It was a huge show the was in syndication for a long time int the 70s and early 80s The other thing that is easily missed is at the end where Al is walking forward and everything else is going backwards.... The filmed that with him walking backwards...He memorized the lyrics as they sounded backward so when they reversed it, it was lip sync'd really well.

Weird Al always had a habit of asking artists’ permission to parody their songs despite not being required to legally to foster goodwill among himself and his fellow artists. Apparently Coolio’s record company said it would be fine to make this parody but Coolio himself was not asked. When someone brought up the song Coolio expressed extreme displeasure with it also saying “I wish him all the success just stay the hell away from me”. Years later at a convention both Weird Al and Coolio happened to be attending together Weird Al cautiously approached Coolio not knowing if Coolio was still upset about the whole thing, unaware Coolio had done some self reflection and had a complete change of heart not only about the song but Weird Al himself who Coolio had even dissed in one of his songs. So when Weird Al approached him Coolio apologized much to the relief of Weird Al.

Though he's known largely for his parodies, he had some incredible original songs. If you listen to "Hardware Store", your jaw will literally hit the floor (not gonna say why). "Your Horoscope For Today" is maybe the funniest song I've ever heard. He also did songs that weren't parodies per se but were done in the STYLES of famous bands... for example, "Dare To Be Stupid" was made to sound like the 80s band Devo, while "Germs" was done in the style of Nine Inch Nails. But the parodies get the most airplay because the melodies are instantly reognizable. My personal favorites of those are "Fat" (Michael Jackson's "Bad") and "Living With a Hernia" (James Brown's "Living in America) because the artists not only gave Al permission to do their songs, but helped him to make the video, teaching him choreography, letting him use the same sets or backup singers/dancers. He has earned the respect of everyone in music.

Basically, the Amish are group of traditionalist Baptist Christians who are known for their simple way of living and plain dress. They don't use many modern contrivances or technology, and are dedicated to pacifism (meaning they don't fight back if antagonized). I believe the largest Amish population in the U.S. is located in Pennsylvania, but there are some communities in other states as well. There was a Harrison Ford movie in the 80s, "Witness" that is worth a look because many of the characters in that film were Amish. The people who "knock on your door" - I believe you are referring to Jehovah's Witnesses, which is a branch of Evangelical Christianity. Mormons are the group that are based in Utah.

Okay, so the Amish are a sect of the Mennonite branch of Christianity. There are several enclaves around the country, but most are in the area around Lancaster, Pennsylvania. A few hundred years ago, they decided that 'English' society was too full of temptations and corruptive influences, so they decided to separate themselves from modern society and live simple, traditional lives. Their way of life has remained virtually unchanged since then. What you saw about Amish kids trying to 'escape' is a tradition called 'Rumspringa.' When Amish kids turn 15, they are given an opportunity to go out and explore the modern world, then they are asked to choose between joining the modern world or returning to their home and becoming full-fledged Amish for life. The overwhelming majority choose to go back to the Amish lifestyle.

Loved your reaction and laughed along with you. The Amish are an old religion, a lot of them in Pennsylvania and quite a few up here in Canada. Some of them do use technology, but often they have broken away from the original group. The ones here where I live, are very traditional. I love driving down the roads and seeing them trotting along in their buggies, there are special tying racks so they can park downtown LOL many of them now keep a community phone down on the road for emergencies. And use a local driver for emergencies if they need to get to the hospital or such.

THe one thing I would always suggest when reacting to any Weird Al song is to make sure you react to the original song before hand, unless you already know it. And his videos will sometimes parody the original video so its worth rewatching a song youve already heard. This one for instance has a lot of elements from coolios video, and another one is he Parody of Bad by Micheal Jackson, (his version is "Fat").. That one ESPECIALLY PLEASE rewatch MJs original video, as Weird Al spent a lot of effort to have some similarities. But hey man, ill just let you know, Weird al is STILL doing parodies, hes probably done over hundred now? he has A LOT, and it seems like you legit like him, so just something to keep in mind. Theres definitely some top 5-10 songs that are most well known and loved, and you should do those no matter what, but if you want to keep going, there is a gold mine of hilarious videos. Hes insane with his ability to perform any style of song of any genre and make it sound good.

"The Saga Begins", adapted from "American Pie" by Don McLean. You did very well in catching some of those things going on in the background. Weird Al videos generally have a bit more going on than expected. I would suggest "Bob", a send up of Bob Dylan.

The Amish are a were a group that broke off from the Anabaptist Christian movement in Switzerland and eventually migrated to the the Pennsylvania area of the US in the early 1700s and spread to Ohio, Indiana, and the surrounding areas. They are pacifists that believe in a simple way of living and that certain technologies interfere with the worship of God or interrupt the family dynamic. They are all farmers... but often have other gigs as carpenters, bakers, farriers, and other craftsmen trades.

He basically goes to the Hip Hop guys and says, “Be honest, there's a funny side to all of this, isn't there?” And with a KILLER rapping capability backing it all up, the rappers themselves go “You know what, you're right, there IS a funny side to what we do!”

They are a group of traditionalist Anabaptist Christian church fellowships with Swiss German and Alsatian (French) origins They are closely related to Mennonite churches, another Anabaptist denomination. and live a simple farming life. Old Order Amish forbid owning automobiles, electricity, owning televisions, radios, or personal computers; attending high school or college; joining the military; and initiating divorce. All Amish groups expect men and women to wear prescribed clothing, usually black or basic drab colors that are simple and not bright. They speak to each other what is referred to as Pennsylvania Dutch, They have their own one-room schoolhouse, and children get only a basic education and attend until 8th grade. Then they go into an apprenticeship and learn a craft to prepare before going into adulthood within the community.

The Amish, as others have said, are a Christian sect, a branch of the Mennonites, who do not believe in technology and are completely pacifistic. They do allow their teenagers to spend time outside their community to see if they prefer the outside world or their family world. To me (as a Jew) they remind me of Hasidic Jews. Dedicated to past traditions and not the modern world. I respect it even though it is not for me. There have been some exploitive shows about Amish but I avoided them.

Amish are very nice people in general. They are Christian which means something I guess. They have communities that are governed in said community. They have different sects. So some communities will not let a single person buy land. The community buys the land and after a couple gets married the community “gives” them some land. They have a term called rumspringa where once a teen gets to an age where they can make their own decisions they can go out into the world and just do whatever. If they are wanting to stick with being Amish then so be it. They don’t shun electricity alone but anything that is powered buy modern technology. Modern as in anything after the 1800’s. Some communities are more lax than others. You don’t get to grow a beard until you are married. No the women do not need to grow a beard too😂 Also a term mentioned is Mennonite. They are similar to Amish but branched off from them. Just some of what I know, hope it helps.
