Yngwie is the father of modern Neoclassical. He is one of the reasons I picked up a guitar some 40 years ago.

Most people have no clue who Yngwie is. I think EVH and Yngwie are number 1 and 2 for best guitarist ever.

Certainly one of the greatest players in the past 50 years. Steve Vai calls Yngwie a "freak of nature", and he's not wrong. Heavily influenced by classical music, he pioneered the Neo-Classical style and certainly inspired many young guitarists in the 80s to improve their playing. He's still touring as well.....worth the effort to see the show....he always has one heck of a stack or Marshalls (old school!).

First time I ever saw Yngwie Malmsteen was in the early 80s when he was the lead guitar player for a band named Steeler. It was at the Country Club, in Reseda California. I’ll never forget during his solo he used my Heineken bottle as a slide. I was a very young kid at that time. I had some great times at that place during the 80s. Great guitar player and fun to see live. Great reaction.👏👏👏👏🤙🤙🤙🤙

Also for you non-swedes, his real name is "Yngve Malmsten". Looks similar but pronounced very differently.

So I know I'm late to the conversation. Malmsteen completely changed my entire view on metal and truly allowed me to see the classical influence in metal period. He truly is a legend!!! Watch live with the Japanese Philharmonic. Mind🤯

I love that he starts with Bach and flows into the next part so fluidly.

Yngwie (ing - vei) Malmsteen is a Swedish guitarist considered to be one of the innovators of neo-classical rock/metal guitar. In his early years he was influenced by classical composers such as Italian violinist Pagannini and Johann Sabastian Bach, as well as rock guitarist Richie Blackmore from Deep Purple/Rainbow. 😃🎸🎸🎸🎸

Every solo he plays is never the same because he thinks that only the greats can do that. Improvise the solo, put on a great show and never stop improving your studies. ❤

Been listening to Yngwie since 1986. When it comes to his style of playing, he is second to none.

The way you pronounce Yngwie is - Ing Vay The songs Id recommend are Far Beyond the Sun and Icarus' Dream both studio. They are from the same album (Rising Force") as this song, Yngwie Malmsteen's first album.

His guitar’s are specially scalloped, that’s how he gets those amazing reverbs. He’s a legend. Been listening to him since he was 16 in Steeler. Listen to Steeler intro to the track Hot on your Heels. Wow

talented? serious? he is one of the two virtuoso has been leading the neo classical wave for rock and metal music from 80's. the second is Jason Becker. all symphonic rock and metal bands owe him a lot for founding this genre.
