Yoasobi is actually made up of Ayase(composer) and Ikura(singer/songwriter). Gunjo is absolutely fantastic the chorus is so good. Honestly a lot of their music is kind of a staple. Hear them all the time watching karaoke for the Hololive JP folks - this one, Yoru ni Kakeru and Kaibutsu in particular. Also yeah THE FIRST TAKE is fantastic, though most of the people showing up on there are already super well known. It's a good way to familiarize with some of them for genres you're not familiar with though. Watame would be upset if I didn't plug THE FIRST TAKE for Porno Graffitti where they do Saudade. They've got some songs that are really popular in the anime sphere for things like Fullmetal Alchemist (2003), GTO, My Hero Academia, etc.

The lyrics of this song can easily be associated with the protagonist of the series Blue Period. but knowing the story of this girl and how she sang in the streets and participated in multiple auditions. There really is nothing left to do but associate it with her story and the well-deserved success she has at the moment. Ikura is an incredible singer and she deserves all the success in the world for all her efforts and never giving up despite everything..!

Ayase has been composing music using vocaloid since a long time ago, most of big bands/singers were actually vocaloid composer, such as Kenshi Yonezu (hachi) and Yorushika (n-buna), I highly recommend these two btw Ayase then made YOASOBI together with Ikuta Lila (ikura) and 3 other members also 4:33 is correct ;)

Gunjo [pronounced as Gu-n-jo] as you said, is a theme song of "Blue period', it is a poor high school student striving his best to learn drawing skill, and to get offer from a popular art university. The term "Blue period" is actually used to define the works produced by Spanish painter Pablo Picasso between 1901 and 1904 when he painted essentially monochromatic paintings in shades of blue and blue-green, only occasionally warmed by other colors. I really love what the song is about, a painter that is so unsure about his future, whether he can make himself big by keep doing things that he loves or not. Worry about his own skills, keep comparing himself to others, trying so hard to make himself distinct. Then reassure himself that everything will gonna be alright and keep moving on. Idk, I think most content creator, artist, illustrator can resonate with those lyrics.

Yoasobi are awesome!! Do Yoru ni kakeru (it means racing through the night but NOT the english version) by them next. Amazing song! Also the singer of yoasobi did a song on the first take with AIMER and MILET (another singer that it confuses me how she hasnt been recommended yet, she's amazing as well, she did the 2nd ending of Vinland saga named Drown) named Omokage. Speaking of artists that I am confused how more people dont recommend them to you considering they are insanely popular....have you checked out Kenshi Yonezu? He did the chainsaw man opening but apart from that he is crazy popular. His songs are always no1 in Japan. Lemon and Kanden are my 2 favorite songs by him. As for FIRST TAKE reaction you have to check out shout baby by ryokuoushoku shakai (anything by that band is golden btw). Probably the best first take performance in terms of vocals.

Please give some of Yorushika a try. They have so many great songs that have what are perhaps the most real and touching lyrics of any music I've ever listened to. It's like Minami met LISA and they made endless masterpieces, and that's Yorushika's music. Specifically, please check out Say It, Hitchcock, Rain with Cappuchino, and That's Why I Gave Up On Music. It was very tough to decide which of their songs I liked the most, but these were the songs that really stood out to me. The first song from Yorushika that I heard was Say It, and I legitimately cried and then couldn't stop listening to them.

Fun fact, this song inspired from "Blue Period" manga. A manga about a high school student that have 2 side as a honor sudent and as a delinquent. The student always feeling empty and can't find his interest or his talent until one day he see the morning sky in Shibuya and decide to paint the scenery he daw in a canvas. And so, the student decide his interest in art and getting deeper and deeper into it. All of yoasobi song based on a novel or a story.

I think the next YOASOBI song you should react to should be "Racing into the night", that's the song which got me introduced to her. Its a very upbeat and happy type of song but when you read the lyrics its actually a very sad song about a girl singing about her depression.

when the Yoasobi release the first single call "Running through the night" and get really popular, it's around the time pendemic hit japan . The First Take can't film due to that so Ikura(the singer) have to record the 'Home Take' ,singing 'Running through the night' by herself alone at home. but when 'Gunjo' release, the situation of pandemic is better so they can record this one normally in studio. FYI, Yoasobi is the duo, a guy who play electric instruments he's the songs composer, and girl who is the singer. it's amazing that at first they gonna work together for just one song, a project that make a novel into song for promotion. unexpectly that song become really big hit and now they officially Duo.

There is something about the Japanese (and Korean too) singers, some kind of strong musical base in their technical use of their voices, they reach the high pitch and stay there so flawless, any western singer trying to do that will end sounding annoying and unpleseant... thas why making anime "covers" in english is so hard. The fun part is that, if you ask any of those singers do any western melodic songs, or RnB or Rap, etc etc... or even Metal, they can doit too. Also, no one talk much about, but the composers and the lyrics are top tier, having a channel like first take helps a lot when the "anime" fans really love a song but dont want be labeled as music for kids, or just trash pop, etc.
