HELLO AUSTRALIA! After what felt like an eternity on and off planes, we have finally arrived in Sydney! We were warned that the weather was going to be unpredictable, so we did not expect to enjoy a WHOLE day of pure Australian sunshine whilst exploring this vibrant and beautiful city! Talk about a proper welcome 😍 We explore the beautiful area of Darling Harbour, before we jet off on some public transport in the shape of a ferry (probably normal to most Australians but somewhat mind blowing for us haha!) to see some incredible landmarks, have an unforgettable lunch, not to mention finishing the day with a quintessential Australian meal, the humble pie! 😂 Let’s be honest, we already want to move here… this is our first video of our Australia series so make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss the next episodes 👍

Welcome to Sydney. Am so glad you have fallen in love with our city. Around the bend from the Opera House, you should have walked around the Botanical Garden too. The coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee is a must do. A ferry across to Manly Beach and Watson Bay and the walk up to the Light House are also lovely. The Northern Beaches from Long Reef Headland to Palm Beach are amazingly beautiful. Lots of walking tracks over looking the ocean in the Sutherland shire national park must be included if you have time. The Blue Mountains of course must be on your list. Endless coastal vibes and natural beauty indeed. Enjoy your stay here - happy exploring!

@@obi-wankenodi861 I was 22. I stayed in a hostel whilst looking for shared accommodation and took any work I could find (mainly in hospitality). After several years of temporary work and travelling right around Australia I decided to stay so went back to school and became a librarian. Just make sure you have enough money to support yourself whilst getting accommodation and work sorted, be hard working and flexible. Good luck

Fun fact - they are quite intelligent and adaptable and get a bit of a bad wrap for scavenging city park bins, but human habitation and spread through Sydney has removed the majority of their natural wetlands/habitat and they have adapted to this new lifestyle to survive.

Even in poor weather - a trip round the harbour can be magical - you should see it on a bright sunny day. As suggestions visit some famous beaches - Bondi and Manly are likely the standouts for tourists - and catch a train to Katoomba and see the three sisters at the lookout point. Sydney is so much more than its world class city - hope you get the chance to explore it and go walkabout!

Can I just let you know that the bird you encountered is the Australian White Ibis - we here down under "affectionately" refer to them as Bin Birds! They are often rummaging through rubbish bins. If you’re paying more than $4.50 AUD for a small coffee in Sydney (standard milk, no extras) you’re laying too much . Most coffee shops around the Sydney CBD will be about $4-$4.20 . In the suburbs it can get to $4.20-$4.50 .

Its lovely to see that you enjoyed Sydney. Those semi detached houses you loved, in fact most houses in the areas near the city, cost 2.5 million dollars and above. The sydney CBD, is not true Sydney. It's where tourists flock to. The suburbs of Sydney give you a true feeling of real Sydney. Real estate prices are astronomical anywhere south, east, north, and some parts of the west.

It is lovely to see your reactions to my home town of Sydney. If you get back to Sydney you really must take the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly which will let you see more of the foreshores of Sydney Harbour. Make sure you have a swim at Manly and take a walk along the promenade that lines Manly beach. There’s so much to do in Sydney elsewhere in New South Wales - hope you’ve got plenty of time to explore as much as possible. Enjoy! 🇦🇺

Been living here for over 60 years. It’s exciting when you are travelling to a new city. In fact, Sydney is very expensive compared to many cities. Around the world. Also, it’s infrastructure is in fact quite antique when compared to China . Living here is different to seeing everything for the first time. But yeah, I enjoyed your video.

I also stopped by Singapore when I visited Australia in 2017. Left Stockholm Arlanda on a Saturday, and landed in Sydney on a Tuesday!!? I also had a swedish waiter, but that was in "The Entrance"/Tuggerah Lake. She had lived in Australia for 25 years, but could right away see that I was from Sweden... funny, or not ;-)

Nice episode. In regard to your comment that 7 years ago Australia seemed expensive is because it was double the price it is now. The Australian $ dropped against the USD by 50%. Try the pear at the pubs delicious!

I wanna go to Sydney! When Anja and I had our Australia/ New Zealand trip, we never made it to Sydney (although Anja was there before). It looks super nice. I was born in Sydney (Kogarah) 60 years ago. Although I only lived in Sydney a few years in my life, my family comes from there, and it will always feel like home to me. I never get sick of the harbour area around Circular Quay, No matter how many times I go there, I never get tired of it. I sometimes think us Aussies take this beautiful country for granted.

WOW! My first solo trip to Sydney Australia was in April 23. Awesome! I also travelled BA business but straight through with brief re fuel at Singapore. Also visited Melbourne and Noosa then back to Sydney before flying home. This makes me want to do it all again! Happy travels :)

Welcome to Sydney! It's great to see you having an amazing time. The British pound is quite strong compared to AUD so enjoy it while you can :) And yes we do have the best coffees here. You can also catch a ferry to Manly. Do the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk. If you just use the public transport (train/bus/ferry), the max a day is $17.80 Mon to Thurs and $8.90 on Fri to Sun with a max of $50 a week, so go wild and explore! Catch the train to the Blue Mountains! Also most museums are free! Check out Cuckatoo Island with simple ferry ride, it's amazing! Have a wonderful time! :)

The big white bird with the long black beak is a beautiful Ibis! They’re waterbirds, but Australia has gone through several long droughts in recent times and their natural habitat dried up, so they went in search of water. They found it around Sydney and its vast suburban sprawl, so they adapted very well. However, because Aussies waste so much food by tossing it in the nearest rubbish bin, the Ibis have also found free foods in our bins, and someone started calling them the ugly name of bin chickens, which is really horrible for such an amazing bird that has adapted to living amongst humans! You often see them in ancient Egyptian paintings. They have long beaks to catch fish in the waterways.

You said the $4 coffee was cheap a number of times. Unfortunately for us, $4 isn’t cheap. Well $4 is probably the cheapest coffee you’ll get now. Most places charge $4.50. They used to be a dollar cheaper a year or so ago. Prices are increasing quickly. And I find myself drinking coffee out less and less. ☹️

Yes that’s a big increase! It’s affordable compared to the U.K. where you can’t really find a decent coffee for less than 5£ which is around 10 AUD 😅

I don't think you can convert it to pounds in terms of cost because if you live here and get paid in Australian dollars when you work, you won't say it's cheap. Also, if you have other living expenses to pay, you will probably think twice before buying a cup of latte.

You’re probably right - it’s all relative! But so many people in the U.K. warned us that it was going to be super duper expensive in Australia, so we just wanted to make that point as clear as we could hehe!

Some of those people may have come over here back packing. If they did probablly relied on part time fruit picking Australian wages to fund their holiday. Then it could cost them a bit more. But should not stop the fun and memories.

Yeah nah... lived in Sydney for 38 years... left 2 years ago for Queensland and had to return for work just this last week... I don't miss Sydney at all... the people i left behind yes but you can have the city itself

Glad you enjoyed! The public ferries are definitely the better option. Not just cheaper, but just as you guys did, you can sit outside at the front, back or sides which gives you uninterrupted views. The costlier cruises/'fast' boats are often enclosed with no outside area so you're stuck looking at the harbour through a sea-stained window.
