I've always though we do pretty well as far as maintaining a clean country. Even our cities, compared to other countries. New York, for example. Yeah, it's a massive city, but half of it is pretty run down. The subway system still works, but it's falling apart. Things like that don't get rectified because of the cost. But I don't understand why shopkeepers are allowed to just dump bags full of garbage on the footpath, rather than a proper bin or dumpster. I've never been to NY, but I but it stinks in summer. No wonder it's plagued with rats. There is no way anyone would be allowed to leave bags of rubbish on the footpath in any Australian city.

Dave, I've lived in several countries, and that is common among people whose world is small and insular. Even in America, they grizzle about the same things, but when one actually looks at it objectively it's usually based on unfounded LIES from people who have another more sinister agenda. Some self-deluded dumb ass thinks they can run it better. THEY CAN'T, they are just looking for someone ELSE to blame so they don't have to change.

I will be at Straddie in two weeks time. We are doing a hike starting with Blue Lake, then over the sand dunes and up the beach with a diversion through the Keyhole Lakes, ending with the Gorge Walk and a BBQ on the beach. The hike will be just over 20 km so not a long one, but we will be stopping at several points for swims and games. Will be leaving home early (4.30 am) to catch the first ferry over, and taking the last ferry back in the evening. The time will be a small group of 10, and will be a great day. :) Another hike we really enjoy is following Cedar Creek from down in the valley up to Greens Falls at Mt Glorious, then back down Love Creek or Black Creek. That is a favourite hike for our group and also takes most of a day. If you ever come back to SE Qld, that hike is highly recommended. The kids would need to be a bit older for that though as it is not an easy hike. Loved watching your experiences here and hope you can come back in the future. All of Australia is great.

The weekends were full of 'surfies' from Brisbane and beyond, we were continually giving first aid to ones that landed on the rocks after a good wave that went wrong. I'm so glad that you had such a positive experience! I think you will find that most Aussies (myself included) are a little bit biased about how good we think our country is. But I also think we are fully justified because it is just AMAZING! You need to come back and check it out again! I can't give you a good estimation of a timeframe needed, as you can never see everything, but 6 months is probably a minimum - that would be just under 4 weeks in each state/territory and, believe me, you could do 6 months in each state/territory alone if you wanted. PS: I especially loved seeing your reaction to how clean Australia is. I have made 2 trips to UK/Europe, 2 trips to the USA and 1 trip to SE Asia, and on every trip, the one thing that really struck me was how dirty every other place seemed to be! From litter in the street to grime on the city building walls, it all just looked so dark and dirty. I love travelling and seeing other countries but I will never want to live anywhere else!

I recently 20 years ago moved from Sydney to Perth (but by Western Australian standards - I am still working on being called a "Westralian") and absolutely love the comparatively laid back life style here. If you like surfing, the southern Westralian coast is spectacular as it catches the heavy weather coming in from the Indian Ocean and has some of the most beautiful surf I have seen so far (even though I am not a surfer). My wife and I went to sugarloaf (a smallish rocky bay) and watched from the cliffs the dolphins surfing the waves

hey guys nice review, always welcome anytime your free. Plenty of room too. Specially nice to watch our allies getting a kick out of this place. I personally do mostly rainforest explorations while 4x4ing. I am retiring in 2 months and will probably sell my home and travel full time for as long as my body will allow it.

Lovely to see such a nice chilled family. What you are doing is so commendable, travelling the world & educating your children through experiences. Just awesome. North Stradbroke is bloody awesome. Hard to find those experiences anywhere! Take care & happy travels 👍

Another Aussie (in Brisbane), here that has stumbled across your channel. Love the concept of what you guys are doing as a family! You’ll definitely have to come back on your way home, or at least come back in a few years (not when the Olympics are on in 2032 though), and we’d love to have you back again. Have fun and travel safe! 💫❤️💫✌🏻🇦🇺

Kingscliff is in NSW. The beaches of Australia are amazing. I’m so glad that my ancestors migrated here in the 1830’s. Most of us are rather lay-back and welcoming.

You need to see the west coast from Margaret River in the south, up to Perth, then up to Sharks Bay Monkey Mia in the "Pilbara" & swim with the whale sharks and dolphins & then go further north to the "Kimberley" horizontal Falls and then onto Broome, now that will blow your mind. Western Australia is so underrated. West coast is the best coast. 🤙

As a West Aussie my first sunset on the east coat was weird watching it set behind land instead of the ocean. However, the most spectacular sunset I ever experienced was driving through Kangaroo Valley heading towards Canberra. The colours coming from the rocks on the Great Dividing Range were spectacular. It reminded me of an Albert Namatjira painting.

You could spend a year and not even get close to scratching the surface. My family and I did WA and NT earlier this year for 3 months and that was going fast. In WA you have Esperance, Albany, Denmark, Margret River, Sandy Cape & Jurien Bay, Kalbarri, Coral Bay, Exmouth, Karijini, Broome, Gibb River Rd and Kimberley's as a minimum. NT Litchfield NP, Bitter Springs, Darwin Night Markets, Mataranka, Katherine Gorge, West Macdonnel Ranges, Alice Springs, King's Canyon, Uluru and Kata Tjuta, Finke, Simpson Desert, just to name a few.

Try The Grampians in Victoria .. so much wildlife, waterfall walks and some beautiful scenery only a few hours from Melbourne. Also, I live in a beautiful place called Kangaroo Island in South Australia .. it’s colder water than in Queensland but has sugar white sands, seals, swimming with dolphins and gorgeous scrubby bush. Koalas, kangaroos and echidnas live here too! Glad you like our country, come back soon!

I'm a carpenter here on the Gold Coast and in summer it's common to see tradies park our work trucks at the beach and go surfing or fishing. We always carry our boards and fishing gear along with our trade tools lol. The best backyard in the world. 🤙

G'day it's Steven from Sydney WELCOME to our friends from northern America. We probably take it all for granted and yes the past few years we've experienced our fair share of issues some of which are due to the pandemic that we're still recovering from, plus when you look around we seem to have a lot of constant development and construction, especially here in Sydney. Enjoy the Gold Coast, it is beautiful and Australia's favorite holiday destination too.

It's easy to take your rubbish home, we do beach and road clean-ups once a year. If we see rubbish near a bin, we can easy put them together. You didn't come North in Qld, half way up the Coast is Shute Harbour, Airlie Beach township, and The Whitsunday group of Islands. Fancy hiring a yacht, with or without a captain, and go to Whitehaven beach for a picnic? Do some Island Hopping, or take the ferry to South Molle island and use the free beach gear, anything motor free was free to use when I was there. The atherton tablelands inland from Cairns, have many tropical fruits and vegetable growers, a foodie festival once a year, tea and coffee plantations and wineries, like murdering point, golden drop mango wine, a chocolate maker, pick your own strawberries, national parks, camping, rainforest hikes, electric hotplates in local parks for bbq's, houseboat hire on lake tinaroo dam, fish for barramundi, set traps for redclaw, freshwater lakes for swimming in extinct volcano craters. Find some native tree kangaroos, platypus viewing, Inland there are the innot hot springs lava lodge, caves etc. You might need 3 weeks or more in each state and territory. Some tourists set off, drove a lot thought they were in WA, skipped the desert... still in Qld. We have a thousand or so beaches and a very great number of islands. Do the dolphins still come in to tangalooma on Straddie, or try Monkey Mia on the West Coast then further up to Broome and the pearling industry. Rottnest island for the Quokkas, Uluru is north of Alice Springs in the heart of the desert. Darwin has unique food at the markets, many indonesian influences. South Aus has Coober Pedy, naturally cool underground homes and Opal mines. Tassie has the tassie devil, cold weather, ancient forests, unique fishing. Lavender fields. And more. Victoria has the great ocean road, stops at fishng towns for great takeaway. Fashion industry in Melbourne, the coffee culture, lebanese food, boutique beer and so much more. The snow fields are not far away, though some are not for beginners. Barossa valley has so much of vinyards and farms. New South Wales has got the hunter Valley, the snowy mts, the Jenolan caves, Sydney is cold too, high cost of living, Botany Bay and Sydney Harbour are huge, with The harbour Bridge, you can climb that. The sydney opera house is open to walk around in. The New Years Fireworks are awesome

Hire a fancy car in melbourne, to drive the Ocean road. Nq has Hinchindrook, green, lizard, islands and Frazer is south. The little penguins, used to be called Fairy penguins hang out at Phillip Island off victoria.

Because you are parents of a young family, you might want to check out a children's show made in Brisbane, which is currently one of the highest rating shows being streamed, and that is Bluey. It will remind you of the Australian way of life and the joys and challenges of parenting. Well worth checking out and trying to recognize some of the parts of Brisbane such as South Bank and Mt Coot-tha which pop up in the show.
