it's a concept album. the album is linked to a series of comics about the story of a character (Mylo Xyloto) in a distopia world. each music is related to an episode of the comics so it makes sense that each song is a little different.

UFO didn’t become much because it transitions into Princess Of China. The whole album is supposed to be listened to in one

13:50 well that’s because you’re looking for the wrong theme. There’s no defined pop theme. It’s a concept album about an underground revolution in a dystopian society through graffiti art and music. I would suggest giving it another try without having a pop album expectation.

so the story with this album is that they were originally going to do an all acoustic album (I think it was called The Wedding Album), hence why the songs like Us Against the World, UFO, and Up in Flames sound kinda out of place They decided to do something else and instead made it an art-rock/pop-rock concept album that tells a story about two characters named Mylo and Fly IIRC, and the album is essentially about their relationship in a way. It's about how a villain is trying to silence music, color, and overall fun vibes (Villain's named Major Minus - hence why his song is about watching you) a lot of people who were fans of early Coldplay tend to say that this or XY are when they start to 'go from their roots' and tend to not like or be disappointed with what comes after. I personally liked the vibe of the album. I just like all the albums in general, but to each his own. The next album is gonna be kinda sad/down since its when Chris and his wife got a divorce and the album was his way of getting through it in a sense

I like that there’s a story to it but it felt very sloppy and had very little coherence through the album unlike the first 4 albums
@lucasargandona46582 жыл бұрын
I think the album being inconsistent is actually better because if all the songs were as energetic and pop sounding as the first few songs, it would get kind of boring. I like the touch of the acoustic in Us Against the Word and the simple piano in Up in Flames. It balances out the album. I think you just need to give them a few more listens to truly enjoy them. Definitely my top two favorite albums from them

This album has grown on me over the course of few months (like 6 or 7 months). I keep coming back to it cause just PERFECT. Nothing is too bad for me on this record, tbh, absolutely NOTHING When I feel bad, I listen to Mylo Xyloto. When I need some good vibes, I listen to Mylo Xyloto

I think some of the album's songs were originally for a musical called Mylo Xyloto that, because of time constraints, ended up being a comic book as a "bonus" to this album. I love the first part of the album (although it took some time for it to grow on me). The second part sounds like a bunch of filler tracks to reach the 40 minute mark. I love Major Minus, though.

@@KnightReacts I guess I get why Princess of China might be off putting. It’s more a personal like for me than an objectively perfect song. I do think Every Teardrop is a Waterfall is an actual masterpiece though. It just fills you with emotion. When you get to “Up&Up”, that’s a song that has a similar sort of vibe imo. And both are some of their best on their album.
