YOOO Ray!! That was really interesting to hear that coming from the Streetz of New Yorrrkkkk (got a hundred guns got 100 clips) you had a connection to music like Alice in Chains and Nirvana!! When I first heard about Upchurch then heard some of music & how He rapped I def thought he was Black 🤣. This exceptionally well done Homage/Cover is another layer of Upchurch musical Genius that You see in things Like: Look at These Dudes, Melatonin, Built like That, and Parachute. The Church Versions of other song/s Beats are also Top notch- Rap Devil, Middle Child, and Trollz, to name a FEW! The most gut wrenching but beautiful version I've heard is the AIC Unplugged version when Layne is like Dope sick out of his Mind but STILL sings the hell out of their Best loved highly cherished Songs-- what an absolute LEGEND gone too soon

In my opinion, if you're gonna do a cover of a song, you have to do it as good or better than the original. Listen to this version and then the original. Go back and forth a couple of times. I don't think you can say that Upchurch didn't do it better. His voice is simply superior.

In my personal opinion the performances are just different. Lane Staley wrote the song and so he was going to sing it more passionately however as a druggie he was not as clear as Upchurch because Ryan was not on drugs and I think he sang that song wonderfully but it may have been better if he actually experienced it. I am sad for him what he is going through right now but guarantee it will produce some great music
