As an Avenged sevenfold fan since waking the fallen, I never understood the how toxic and aggressive any fan base gets whenever someone doesn't like or enjoy their band's music. They take it as an attack on them personally when like, music is so vast and diverse that it's impossible for anyone to like EVERY genre. Honestly this whole album is mood based. As a huge fan of the band before the album came out it’s not something I can just throw on and always just vibe with. BUT. if in the right head space it’s my favorite. Which is easily dismissible as fandom and I get that. But die hards of this band are die hards and honestly I get what they went for based on interviews. They nailed it. Not my daily jam but fucking art for sure

I've been to like 6 a7x concerts and have been a fan for a long time, so I think I can confidently say a7x is dumb guy music for dumb guys. And there's nothing wrong with that. I love a 20 minute introspective jazz odyssey as much as the next guy, but sometimes that's not what you want. Sometimes you want stuff that you can just turn your brain off and enjoy. But a7x fans have a problem where they think the music is deeper and more intelligent than it really is, absolutely refusing to acknowledge that it's just kind of skin deep and really not that clever. tl;dr - Avenged Sevenfold is the Rick & Morty of metal.
