Great reaction guys. She had lived in Pennsylvania. When she was 14 her family moved to Nashville to help her promote her music. Her mother would drive her to NY for acting and music lessons. Her Grand mother was an Opra singer and had taken her to stage shows and she loved the stage setups. She's hands on for stage design company's etc for her Concerts. After all the hate from the media and Kim & Kanye trying to destroy her, She wasn't seen or heard from for a year. She reinvented herself during that time. She flipped the tables on all of them and released her Reputation Album. The snake motif on her Stages came from Kim and Kanye calling her a snake. The Reputation/Revenge Tour was Taylor's way of brilliantly clapping back at her haters. 👏👏 She came back swinging. She also won the National Poets Award at age 13. She's a brilliant lyricist. She paints a picture with her lyrics and puts it to music. ❤ Stay safe

This album came out when I was 29 and pregnant for the first time. I came home after 13 years away in the Navy and traveling off grid to a family that had some majorly crazy ideas of who I was. They had a LOT to say behind my back and I was so confused. I just came back to share the baby and go to college, no time for the weird background noise. I dont like confrontation and I was met with it at every turn not knowing why. Loose lips sinking my ships without any reasons. So at any rate, I screamed this song out in my car for many many hours in that time period. Im 35 now. Taylor always helps me through it all. Folklore when my relationship was falling apart after two kids in two years, evermore when it came back together, 1989 Tv and Speak Now Tv when I made amends with my past and found maturity in my nostalgia, and Midnight when I felt like a woman and a mother finally, confident and full of love instead of a terrified girl pretending to be a mom and wife. Shes been with me since 09 and has taught me so much. To my mans dismay, I wont stop.

About the “burning witches” lyric. Yes, I believe it refers, in part, to Kim K.. IMO, though, it’s a broader statement regarding the media/public backlash of 2016. While on this topic, though, I think this is another example where some people say Swift played the victim, but I disagree. When I think of “playing the victim”, I certainly DON’T think of someone looking an issue in the face, calling it out and challenging people to “go ahead and light me up”.

Consider reacting to This Is Me Trying from her Folklore album. This album was recorded during the pandemic and went on to win her third Grammy for album of the year. An acoustic version of the album, called the Long Pond Studio sessions, was recorded with her collaborators. In this documentary they discuss the meaning behind each of the songs. The discussion leading up to TIMT seems to strike a chord with everyone. It’s a short, beautiful, insightful song.

Hey guys, love ya vids. Just wanted to add on some info regarding last vid about how it was related to the whole Kim & Kanye saga, it's not just about how they manipulated the illegal recording to make it seem like Taylor agrees to the "I made that B**** famous" (she did not, it was heavily edited) but Kanye also added a naked wax figure of Taylor in that 'Famous' music vid (like some sort sick revenge p***). Taylor was heavily criticised & shunned during the whole snake gate saga, #TaylorSwiftisOver was trending all over Twitter. It's not just the feud with Scooter selling her masters, but the artists who were associated with him also rally behind him & undermines her work as an artist. If you guys really wanna delved into the Lore try listening to her songs in Folklore album & then Evermore (They're sisters album) but those 2 really shows her brilliance in song writing & story telling. She did have some minor roles in movies like The Giver, New Girl, Cats The Musical, Amsterdam, CSI, Valentine's Day, and voiced as Audrey in The Lorax.

@@EbonyandIvory1213 She is a brilliant director. Forget about her acting (she has done some small parts); her directing is going to blow the socks off everyone. She is multitalented. But really, her writing (both lyrics and music) are going to be legendary. Like much bigger than even now. I watched a Harvard professor explain how the lyrics to her songs draw on poetic traditions going back thousands of years. One song demonstrates she has read Wordsworth and inserted him into the lyric of the song. She has also said if she had to choose another profession it would be teaching English.

She was in a movie called Valentine's Day. And had a great character on an episode of CSI. The media always wanted to label her "bad" for how relationships ended and things like that....so she just leaned into the narrative. I have never believed she is being literal in this song regarding doing something bad that feels good. Rather, consistent with the theme of the entire Reputation era which is a response to false allegations, I have always interpreted these lyrics to mean exactly what they say “they said I did something bad” and then calling into question that judgment by essentially saying if it was as bad as you said why does it feel good. That being said she has been outspoken on also loving to play into double meanings and she clearly wrote this song in a playful way too, I think to convey the feeling of doing something bad that feels good. I think she is also playing off the “reputation” that she is doing exactly that… indulging in the “bad” as if it is good. I think the multiple meanings of her lyrics are what make them so strong allowing everyone to experience them consistent with their own perspectives and experiences. I think all are valid interpretations, but I personally lean toward the you said it was bad, but the way I feel evidences it wasn’t bad at all.

He attitude was dismissive and disrespectful. All the while she gave him a song that won him an award.

Based on what I’ve learned during my Swift deep dive over the past year, the “vision” for any of her eras comes from her. Meaning, she’s involved in everything from start to finish: “era” aesthetics, album production, album artwork, the concepts for videos and concerts, the look and feel of those videos and concerts, etc. That being said, of course she has A LOT of help executing all of those things, and she has the budget to get the best of the best. IMO this is another area where some folks who don’t understand the “hype” around Swift might not be aware of the extent of her artistry. I’ve read some articles that have started to describe Swift as an “auteur” as opposed to simply a pop “artist”. And I think I agree. She conceives and then actively directs her body of work as a whole. Since she made the full switch to pop, she’s inhabited every era and the “character” she creates for herself within it. (Sometimes to the point that you wonder if it can be difficult for her to maintain a stable sense of self.) Regarding her acting abilities… I know I might get tackled for this one but my personal sense is that she’s an excellent “emoter” but can struggle a bit with “acting” (which is more nuanced). She’s great at expressing emotions via her face, body language and vocals in concerts and music videos. But, when you add spoken dialogue and the need for a more subtle performance, she struggles a bit. For anyone who might be getting upset with me here, I don’t mean this as a take-down. No human being can be good at everything and, all-in-all, she’s got more than enough talent for ten people. 😉

@@EbonyandIvory1213 She wrote, directed, produced, sung -- all of it. Also, watch which is another short film masquerading as a music video. Scott Eastwood is her costar. I have a lot to say about it. A lot. I've seen some huge misrepresentations about what is going on in that production. It honors her grandmother (who was an opera singer) and her grandmother's era. Taylor plays an Elizabeth Taylor like star acting in a 50s film set in Africa. It also visually echoes the film with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford. Taylor obviously reads a lot (I have to laugh out loud when I come across the slander that she doesn't read books!!) and studies popular culture. She knows what she is doing when she references James Dean daydream eyes in . James Dean obviously starred against Elizabeth Taylor in "Giant." I am a baby, but , Swiftie. I have a lot to learn, but a lot of stuff is just to someone with my training. There is a reason there are multiple college courses about Taylor popping up everywhere from Harvard to Stanford. Some are even comparing her to Shakespeare

I really recommend the EAS (something like that? EVS maybe? it's a little logo at the top corner you'll see it, it has many views as well) videos of her performances on KZbin, they're remastered so you can hear her live vocals best any they edit the best footage from the shows in. it's very great, I adore the one of her singing "I don't wanna live forever" without Zayn (who personally I think ruins the song...). I also love her 1989s tour rock version for "we are never ever getting back together" though I think you gotta get to know the original version first. loved the video, you guys are awesome. (and as always I just gotta mention, not too hard on the eyes as well 👀)
