I think that as me who does not speak English enough to completely understand the songs in English, I first pay attention to the musical side, then I will look for the lyrics to better understand the song to listen to. So here are the lyrics of desire. Song by Johnny Hallyday. Give me darkness then light Give me hunger, thirst and a feast Take away from me what is vain and secondary That I find the price of life, finally Give me the trouble so that I love to sleep Give me the cold so that I love the flame So that I love my land that someone gives me exile And let me be locked up for a year to dream of women I was given too much well before I wanted it I forgot the dreams and the thanks All those things that had a price Who make the desire to live and the desire And pleasure too Make me want to The desire to want And let my life be lit Give me hatred so that I love love Solitude too so that I love people So that I love the silence that people make speeches to me And touch poverty to respect money So that I love to be healthy, overcome illness Give me the night so that I love the day Give me the day so that I love the night So that today I like to forget the “always” I was given too much well before I wanted it I forgot the dreams and the thanks All those things that had a price Who make the desire to live and the desire And pleasure too Make me want to The desire to want And let my life be rekindled I was given too much well before I wanted it I forgot the dreams and the thanks All those things that had a price Who make the desire to live and the desire And pleasure too Make me want to The desire to want Let my life be rekindled Make me want to The desire to want Let my life be rekindled

Translation Give me darkness then light Give me hunger, thirst, then a feast Take away what's vain and secondary So I may rediscover the value of life at last Give me sorrow so I may love to sleep Give me cold so I may love the flame To love my land, give me exile And lock me away for a year to dream of women I've been given too much before the desire I forgot dreams and thank you All those things that had a price That fuel the desire to live and the longing And pleasure too Give me the desire The desire to have desire And light up my life Give me hatred so I may love love Also, loneliness so I may love people To love silence, make speeches to me And touch misery to respect money So I may love being healthy, conquer illness Give me the night so I may love the day Give me the day so I may love the night So I may love today, forget the "forever" I've been given too much before the desire I forgot dreams and thank you All those things that had a price That fuel the desire to live and the longing And pleasure too Give me the desire The desire to have desire And relight my life I've been given too much before the desire I forgot dreams and thank you All those things that had a price That fuel the desire to live and the longing And pleasure too Give me the desire The desire to have desire Relight my life Give me the desire The desire to have desire Relight my life

Johnny Hallyday (real name "Jean-Philippe Smet") was a very well know french rock singer who had died in 2017 at the age of 74 yo! He was know for his very powerfull voice and was more or less the french elvis presley both as how well he was famous and his style of music he too was an actor!

The song is about a guy who has had everything he could ever when too early in life, and thus has no wish, longing or craving any more. And this is a great song written by J.J. Goldman (who also wrote song for Celine Dion) because Johnny was very successful early in life, and this clearly is something that he could have felt. In the chorus, he sing: "I was given too much long before the desire I forgot the dreams and the thanks All the things that had a price and make us want to live..." The verses are along the line of "deprive me of X so that I could wish for X..."

*Frédéric* Hello, Contrary to popular belief, it's not a song about an artist, rich of course, who already has everything (Johnny, in this case) and would like to be dispossessed of his property to give meaning to his life. This song is for all of us, spoiled children (in a certain way, in any case, compared to other destitute countries in the world) who, by dint of living in a certain form of luxury (toilets, the shower, etc. at home, the water flowing from the tap as soon as we turn it on, the car sleeping downstairs, but also our many friends and acquaintances, our family within car reach, or phone, the TV, radio, and all those things to communicate easily, the supermarket and the full shopping cart, etc.), have forgotten the price of the simplest things. This song says that ultimately, comfort takes us away from our humanity. That we attach value to things only when they become rare, or even better when they completely escape us; health, love, etc. It's a much more philosophical song than it first appears. Have a good day/night.

for informations the lyrics are close to "give me one thing so that i can love the oposite!" like like he said "give me night so that i can love day" and the chorus give gove even more "understanding" because he said " they have given me to much even before the envy ( to it) i forgoten the dreams and the thank you..." wich make me understand it in a way that said "i was successfull too soon so that i never knew the "littles hapiness" "! I don't know how quicly he became a star i only really like some of his songs like " le penitencier", on as tous quelque chose en nous de tenesse" ( linked to an american writer tenesse williams), and diego ( a cover) because i'm NOT a fan!

On this page , the follower " Prévention Déchet " gives to you the good link for an amazing song , "Requiem pour un fou"with Lara Fabian and Johnny Hallyday. For me , this dramatic song is the best duet of the galaxy ! This song is about a man who has killed his girlfriend.

*Amicy* Hello, If you want see another *Johnny,* more intimate, but a true experience - ...and you'll know why called it "Le taulier" by the French show business. "Taulier" could be translated into English as "Boss" cause it's more or less the same thing. But "taulier" is street language. It's a reference to "la taule" ("chamber" in slang and, by extension, "the house") but it's also the slang name given to the prison in France. It should, therefore, instead be translated by "the caïd." Johnny was considered quite a fighter in his youth. He was more or less "a street kid," like so many post-war France children (he was born in 1943) - please react to *"Johnny Hallyday - Je te promets (Clip Officiel Remasterisé)."* Thank you for this reaction. Peace, folks!
