There was a poll in the 90s which found this was Britain's "favourite song" at the time and then again in 2010 and it also won. Definitely a popular song, though probably less so now. You don't hear it on the radio much either, probably because of the content. I'm glad you picked up on the disco elements. It's not often classified as disco which I think is unfair in retrospect, but at the time disco was rapidly falling out of favour and they probably didn't want to latch on to it too much.

this was 1980....Abba was from 1973-1982 a legendary band....in 2021 after almost 40 years their fantastic comeback album called VOYAGE with the same 4 members all in age 75 plus.....and they are still fantastic.......I STILL HAVE FAITH IN YOU - BUMBLEBEE - JUST A NOTION - ODE TO FREEDOM....listen also to I HAVE A DREAM and DANCING QUEEN or THE DAY BEFORE YOU CAME ....you always will be glad to hear these songs

While the music was light and enjoyable, the lyrics convey a deep sense of heartbreak and resignation. It's a break up song with Agnetha Fältskog's husband and band member Björn Ulvaeus who actually wrote the song. Those of us that have experienced break up appreciate the sentimentality of this song.
