Fun little fact: I am friends with the legendary guitarists Manny Charlton, formerly from the band Nazareth. Back in the 1980s, Slash, Axel Rose, Steve Adler approached Manny Charlton as they were huge Nazareth fans. They asked Manny if he could help them and even be their producer for their first album. Manny did help start things up but had other commitments with producing Nazareth's sixth album Cinema. Manny was partially responsible for the start of "Appetite For Destruction". They made a reel to reel audtion tape. I personally heard this tape myself and trust me, what we hear now is nothing like the audtion tape. November Rain was totally different as well other songs.. So, Manny can be heard on the tape of giving the guys pointers, change this riff or whatever Manny thought would help them. ( I had a chance to even purchase this reel to reel but it got sold to someone else before I made my move) Manny said the guys are great and they liked to party but overall are great talented musician. Slash is a pro. (Quick note: in the early days, Manny would wear this top hat.... which is what Slash wears) WE ALL KNOW THIS! Manny left Nazareth in 1991. So he has his own band now and produces his own CDs. Few years back, Steve Adler played drums on a CD or two. I can not even remember which CD it is as I have all of Manny's material.Ever noticed and wonder why Guns N Roses did Nazareth covers. Also too, if you look at just about any Nazareth album, you will noticed something familiar with Guns N Roses name..... the letter N'. Check it out

Slash is a legend, and he’s also one of the main reasons I decided to learn guitar. I’ve heard Slash say that one-take thing in an interview before as well, which definitely sounds cool, but we also have to remember that it’s not at all uncommon for rock stars to embellish and exaggerate things from time to time. Hell, we ALL do it, but a lot of 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s rock stars/bands definitely-especially during those days-have a habit of making boastful claims and embellishing stories. So I take all that sort of stuff with a pinch of salt.

And it's the heaviest part of the song. I had this on media player, put it on half speed because I was trying to learn the solo, and then I left it going for the ending. Try it. Play it half speed, all of slash's solo and Axl's vocals and it is even more amazing. Both of those guys are brilliant at what they do. And when you play it half speed you can hear slash wring every note it of that guitar like his life depends on it. Same with Axl. He sings it like it's the last thing he will do on this earth.

@@Jake_Stafford "By September 2008, the album had been certified 18x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), having shipped over 18 million copies in the United States,[28] making it the country's 11th best-selling album ever.[29] According to Billboard in 2008, it is also the best-selling debut album of all time in the US.[30] That year, Sky News reported the album's worldwide sales to be approximately 28 million copies, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time.[31] More recent figures have it at approximately 30 million sold worldwide." So I checked, and my info was a bit out of date. It looks like Adele holds the new record. This album was at one point one in worldwide sales, for a debut album. With Adele at somewhere close to 31M in sales for her debut, I would argue that this is not far behind her.

I really love to see you younger folks finding “our music” (Us old farts) and seeing your honest reactions We grew up as these bands came out and released new music. We went to their concerts , bought their albums etc. The 70s, 80, & 90s were the best decades for music in my opinion. The 80s & 90s produced these “big hair bands” that just rocked. I like all kinds of music and I believe it’s the one things that can actually bust through our boundaries and join us all in one common goal. Music can do that. If you really want to dive into rock then AC/DC is a must. They’ve been around for almost 50 years and are still rocking. Some members have passed on but they’re still at it and released a new album in the last 6 months or so. Any song really but there are some that stand out like “Thunderstruck” and have been in movies and TV shows. Keep on broadening your mind my friend! Awesome reaction.

Awww JoJo I love you 🌹 My fave band ever. Ever. This is the best selling debut album of all time. And yes, Axl Rose really does sing like that. Well, he used to. We're all older now. He has a larger vocal range than Mariah Carey. The intro was a warm up exercise that Slash used to do, and the song wasn't actually finished when they recorded it, so Axl is literally asking where do we go with the song. It's epic. They are rock gods. listen to the entire album.

Hey Jojo, first of all I would like to thank you for the nice person you really are. It is very cool to see that someone of the new generation of men and women giving a chance to music, even if that kind of music is different in type or genre from the one you usualy listen to. You prove to me what a brave person you are, with lots of humility and respect for the differences of each other. Music is all about it. You know that a specific music is something special if you get goose bumps all over your skin. If it changes something on you after listening it, or even if you need to reflect in the message behind it. Guns N Roses are great, very very great. I'm an almost 50 years old guy that lived very much these kind of bands. I was a radio and night club dj on my youth and believe me, after have seen your reaction, made me to remind my own reaction when I found Guns n Roses. Even today Slash is one of my best guitar players ever, but in this band, everyone have a place that complement each other. Once agan, keep on going with the discovering of music in general, and never ever feel shame to discover it what ever kind or name may feel you strange. In all kinds of music you will get great players, classic and new ones as well. I wish you the best.
