I agree with lycan! I'm 36, and I grew up to Mariah and Celine. Whitney not so much! Just based off total vocal ability, overall success, longevity , vocal tone, range etc.: 1. Mariah 2. Celine 3. Whitney Whitney definitely had an amazing full resonant mid-belting range and great head voice, but she did have the most limitation vocally compared to Mariah and Celine! Celine 100% trumps Whitney with vocal tone, range, and flexibility alone! And don't forget longevity as well with her Las Vegas residency! Mariah is still going on strong till this day! She's the most successful female of all time in history! Mariah has one of the longest music careers ever! She has been around since the start of the 90s.

lol so idk if u noticed but just abt EVERY phrase had a riff, inflection, or transition. Also her climax riff in the last chorus had a complex riff of abt 23 notes in ONLY 3 seconds! She has the most agile voice literally out of anyone else in the industry, especially because that was a complex riff that spanned almost 2 entire octaves (which is some people’s entire range💀) and she did it in that quick run alone. Also the last sustained belt on the phrase “the way” was about 20 seconds long which is actually her longest sustained belt ever and it’s also longer than ANY belt from Celine or Whitney, it’s actually one of the longest belts in history. Some people can hold notes for over 30 seconds however Mariah was BELTING here so it’s not the same sustaining a belt requires MUCH more breath and she also didn’t breathe the entire last chorus as if that wasn’t crazy enough💀. Ig u can see WHY some people consider her the greatest vocalist of all time above anyone else, cuz she truly could do ANYTHING with her voice.

28 actually. She first recorded Lead the Way in 1996 initially for the Butterfly album but Mariah and Walter A. never got to finish the song because they fell out. When Walter basically sided with Tommy turned a blind eye to abusing Mariah. Lead the Ways' first version got shelved, she re-recorded and re-written the song in 1998 in between the #1s era and Rainbow era, this time with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis helping her with the production. Mariah started the "All That Glitters project" later shortened Glitter in 1998, but Tommy squashed the project as he felt Mariah should not venture in acting. Mariah then basically rushed the Rainbow album in Capri to free herself from her contractual obligation with Columbia records and Sony Music. We all know what happened after she left Sony. Mariah basically overworked herself so much to prove that she can be successful without Tommy Mottola that it almost ended her career, and quite possibly her freedom with her vulture ex-brother and mother.

Vocal trinity is for a reason, but who you like better is just a preference. Mariah has the most vocal abilities, writes, and produces her work. Whitney is both singer and actress known for her head voice. Celine is bilingual, tours the most, and known for her high belts.

It’s a coin flip between those two and inevitably comes down to personal preference. Whitney was the best live performer. Mariah the more artistic/ better catalogue. There’s a reason Mariah Carey has more no 1s than Elvis. She is a living legend!

Upbeat, masterful vocals, motivational. Make it happen live 95 at MSG or 93 live at Mariah Carey. New song she gave us last year “workin hard” but the terry hunter remix is sooo good. Her remixes are 98% of time way more upbeat than original she completely redoes the song and singing for a remix.

This track was from Glitter. It's actually nothing to do with her own style or music. She was tasked with making a soundtrack for Glitter which was set in the 1980s, so the music from Glitter is based around the 1980s with a few ballads sprinkled in. The film...let's not talk about that 👀 But the music, especially a few of the tracks was AMAZING, which is not surprising when you consider who wrote and sang them.

I think Mariah and Whitney are the best female singers of all time. Celine doesn't deserve to be put on the same level as them. Sorry, there is no trinity. Who is better, Houston or Carey? Well, it's kind of like one is a Ferrari and the other a Lamborghini. There are features of Whitney's voice that Mariah doesn't have, and vice versa: things Mariah can do that Whitney can't. As far as power and tone, Whitney Houston has the greatest voice of all time. Mariah herself said about Whitney, "She was here first." Nobody will ever have Whitney's tone and power. But Mariah on the other hand had the best songs, and she wrote them all! In her prime, nobody could touch Mariah's unique singing style. She is also the best singer. And though I love Mariahs music more than Whitney's, I do think we have to say Whitney had the best voice of all time. She just didn't have the range Mariah did, nor could she write music.

First of all, the real BATTLE is for 2nd place between Whitney and Celine. VOCALLY, Mariah was considerably quicker, more explosive, and a MUCH higher degree of difficulty in her songs then the other two. And that's saying a lot, because it's not just any other two, its Whitney and Celine. But, facts are facts. Even if Mariah gave them a pass on the whistle register, they still couldn't do Mariah's toughest songs in her Prime. For me, Vocally it's Mariah then Celine, then Whitney very close behind. In terms of who's songs I prefer to listen to, it's Mariah-Whitney then Celine. And that's what ppl need to be clear about. Preference is one thing, actual vocal ability (and proof!) is another. That's why my rankings change from ABILITY to PREFERENCE! Keep up the good work...trust me, the Lambs will follow you on this journey. Start with her EPIC LIVE performances is my suggestion. You've literally just scratched surface so far...she had TWO Prime era's! It makes no sense, but then again, her voice shouldn't be real, so, we're all just thankful!

so …i have to challenge something here…but before i do i need to share that Mariah has always been my number 1 for various reasons…however, this objectively speaking, as far as Vocal control? Celine takes that. As far as belting consistently from beginning to end, Whitney and Celine BOTH TAKE MARIAH. And finally, LIVE PERFORMING… Celine always and still #1, while whitney **in her prime before all the drugs**would have easily tied. Whitney and Celine could jump on stage (unless they were sick or something) could knock any belting song far out the park and on the first try. Mariah unfortunately seems to have to specifically baby her voice and prepare carefully etc before a live performance to perform at her peak. Also she shies away so much from actually belting, especially as the hiphop influence permeated through. Celine TECHNICALLY, is number one in skill, vocal agility, mimicry, and ALMOST in rangeWhereas Mariah takes THEM BOTH IS ORIGINALITY (writes own music) and WELL ROUNDEDNESS, belting, soft, expansive range into whistle tones, and has a vibe that can fit any genre (mostly)…where as whitney and Celine’s music tends to fall into a more specific smaller group of genres. So i LOVE MARIAH and she is MY#1 but, i really do worship the Trinity as a whole because realistically they all bring slightly differing things to the table…A collab between the 3 (beyond the bit of ensemble performance in the original divas live concert (minus Whitney of course) was the closest they came to singing together. my only regret now that whitney os gone..the 3 of them together could have made utter magic
