To those who can sing this song live, I admire you! This song is freaking hard. The agility it requires to sing that run that way and the stamina that you need to have to sustain that majestic note. I know all of Mariah Carey songs are as deadly as these, but Lead The Way is one of her songs that truly amazes me every time I hear it.

It is in one breath, the fact that she is creating a bigger and more powerful tone is because she is preserving her breath for the transition into falsetto and then back to belt. The higher and bigger the sound the less air you need. The last run before the sustained has 35 notes . The long belt is not impressive to me, I mean it's cool and really hard but what I admire if this climax are the dynamics, falsetto, head, upper chest belt and she is also manipulating the sound using the vocal tract, brings the lip against the teeth to bring a brighter sound, she gets closer to the mic and purses her lips to make a more heavy and dark sound for her lower notes. She doesn't simply sing pretty, she is full of tricks, there is no 1 technique to sing there are multiple but hers is impeccable, in order to whistle you need breath control. Breath control is the key for singing, the vocal folds of course are important but they are a small thing in a huge mechanism where breath control is the protagonist. She is is so good that she works the make to skip unwanted frequencies for e ample she wants the tone of the belt but not the power she puts the mic to the sid3, in big note sh E steps back, she does onset purely with the mic and her voice is so expressive. Most of her songs have huge climaxes like We belong together and the last part of that song she is singing in a very high tesitura and you feel the pain, the emptiness of begging the love of your life to comeback but in the background the melody is the same throughout the entire sing, it's only her voice making the song explode. That's how talented she is is, she is a great producer and the biggest selling female artist of all time
