FIRST TIME listening to POSITIONS by ARIANA GRANDE!! 💚 || Full Positions Album Reaction

In order to understand the full story of what she went through and her emotional state while writing these songs, you’d have to listen to sweetener, thank u next, and then positions. It’s basically a trilogy of albums. Sweetener was her album showing growth and healing from the Manchester attack that occurred at one of her concerts. After that album released, her ex Mac Miller passed away from an overdose. The reason they broke up was because she felt she couldn’t do anything to help him with his addiction. She was engaged to Pete Davidson at the time and shortly broke it off because she couldn’t deal with Mac’s death. Thank u next comes 6 months after sweetener and is the album showing her state of mind at the time of dealing with all of this. Positions is a year later and shows her finally grieving properly and moving on. She began dating her now ex husband, Dalton Gomez who positions and eternal sunshine are mostly about. Eternal sunshine tells the story of how their marriage fell apart.

id go as far as to say ES is a continuation of positions. positions is the beginning and honeymoon phase with [REDACTED] and ES is the end of that relationship and the start of a new one.

@@Tomtheestallion definitely. The reason I said Sweetener, thank u next, and positions were kind of a trilogy is because of the shorter amount of time between them. Eternal sunshine was 3+ years after positions.

​@@stefanb.5154I agree with you AG4, 5 and 6 are completely inseparable both due to the short period of time they were made and her emotions and reactions to everything that happened at that time, which in a way everything was connected (like breaking up with Mac because she couldn't deal with PST and his addiction at the same time and breaking up with Pete for not being able to deal with Mac's death). But eternal sunshine seems to me to be a closure to all of this and also a new beginning, it shows how Ariana now deals with problems in a different way, not only in relationships but also in the media, she is also capable of now seeing the problems that she didn't see at the time of songs like "P.O.V"

This album is not for everyone honestly, thats why the typical pop stans didn't like this album and hated it. She was in her full rnb bag this era and I love every song on her except 34+35.. this album is pure gold sonically.

In positions she talks a little bit about her struggles in her relationship prior to marriage and ends with pov , which we believe is about dalton (her now ex husband). Eternal sunshine leads us through her divorce process while updating us on her new (very controversial) relationship . It starts with the question “how can I tell if I’m in the last relationship” and ends with her nonna giving her the answer . That questions , I believe stems from the fact that most of her previous relationships were conflicting.
