I'm going to tell you a strange story about what has been found in that canal . Some years ago part of the side of the canal collapsed and the water rushed out. leaving part with no water in it at all . In the bottom, in the mud , they found cannon balls, lots of cannon balls . So what did they do ? They present them to the local museum in the castle. There were so many the the museum curator said . Enough was enough and refused to take any more . The question was then. Where did them come from and why were they in the canal ? It turned out they were from the 1640's . From the English civil war . The town of Abergavenny was for the king. Had two or three canons were set up facing what in time became Llanfoist, which is to the south west of the town . They must have fired them off , perhaps in practise ? When houses were built in Llanfoist , years later . People found these lumps of rusty iron in they gardens . Not wanting them they threw them into the canal . Now this where a strange coincident comes in play. Where the canons were originally set up. Was within a few feet of the castle . So you could say they where returned from where they came from ! But it took over three hounded years . :-)

That is a very interesting bit of info! I may take a look closer to the castle and see if I can pull anything out! That would be fantastic if I could! Thank you so much for you comment! Stick around by hitting subscribe! I’ll sure make a video with your info on and see if anything comes to fruition

Nice one mate. It's a great feeling when you attach to something but it really is a time-consuming thing. As you said, you need to go where there is some sort of anti-social behaviour or where there is a lot of crime I suppose...lol...great video.

Just came across your channel, great content. Im thinking of setting up a second channel because Wales has so much beautiful places to explore. But magnets fishing is something I find myself watching a lot lately and I'm going to give it a go 👌 From Barry south Wales 🏴 👌

That's not a tent pole, it's part of an old umbrella. The slit in the shaft is for the catch.

0:12-0:28 legend says it’s right by a canal Jokes aside magnet fishing seems to be quite an interesting thing to do with great potential to find amazing stuff. You should probably do that in the pond in Clyne Valley woods if it is allowed. Whole area was the brickworks (also has a pair of pillboxes) so who knows what has fallen in that pond.

The long pipe with holes in was the top rail from an old fence that was replaced opposite where it was found

That lumpy thing u think may be a bullet l it could possibly be a part of a plumbob. There would b a thick brass washer 2 put a string with knot thru then push or screw in2 the end, its 2 find an upright level line.
@WelshHunter5 жыл бұрын
The lumpy thing is indeed a bullet. Took it to a museum and they confirmed it's a bullet from some sort of aircraft new or old.
@lisafarr23175 жыл бұрын
Creepy 2 think how that bullet got in2 the water. It looked huge. Nothing should surprise me with some of the stuff thats come out of the waterways. 2ft tall He Man. Put him on the side 2 dry out n when i went back he'd gone.
