The morning dose is the more critical one. It has all three meds in it. The night time dose is just a booster of the ivacaftor. Lots of us don't take the night dose. So kinda good news on that.

I have a friend who would give her cat a treat every time she had to take meds, and on the cupboard where the meds were stored was a little bell. So the cat picked up pretty quickly that at that time, the bell should ring and she needs a treat. It worked pretty well! I typically set an alarm on my phone every day at the same time and have my SD Trinket grab my meds for me ❤️ it keeps her fetching fresh and helps encourage me to take my meds on time

For those reactions i always make sure to wash all the clothes/sheets whatever that came in contact with you when you think you touched it. My doctor told me it doesnt spread from touching the rash it spreads from the oils from the plant so make sure theres none around your house! Amd calamine lotion of course

I have forgotten to take my meds also! For poison ivy when my sister had a very bad case, we put charcoal powder in Vaseline and put it on. Poor girl had it in her face and she was a sight! But it really helped! To help me not forget to take meds especially more then twice a day, I set a timer. I did realize that at three when I watched this, I had forgotten to use my inhaler at twelve. I did do it since it wasn't that far off. I recently was diagnosed with asthma. It kinda does make sense what I was experiencing but never thought about that.

Apply an over-the-counter corticosteroid cream for the first few days. Apply calamine lotion. Take oral antihistamines, such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl, others), which may also help you sleep better. Soak in a cool-water bath containing an oatmeal-based bath product (Aveeno). Place cool, wet compresses on the affected area for 15 to 30 minutes several times a day.

Peter, don’t scratch the area as you can spread the oils along wherever you scratch, including touching your face and eyes. You should shower as soon as possible. Put all the clothes in the wash. As someone else said, wash the gloves. It may have also gotten on Ollie’s coat, so it might be worth shampooing him, or you could recontaminate yourself from the oils on his fur. Get some Benadryl cream to apply for the itch and reaction, and even use some of Mary’s oral Benadryl for the itch at night. However, it often doesn’t do much. You may need to get some Hydrocortisone cream, and maybe even a script for oral Prednisone if it spreads and worsens.

After working in the yard or being in any wooded area I always take a shower asap. Before you start the shower get a towel and some white vinegar. Soak the towel and scrub you entire body. Be very generous with the vinegar. It will cut through the oils and then you can shower like normal. You and the shower may smell of the vinegar for a little while but it is totally worth it!!! I used to get horrible rashes but have only had 1 in the last 5 years and that was when I forgot to use the vinegar. Good luck!!

I have used Ivy Dry with success in the past. My mom used to make a paste of baking soda & water. She also taught me this rule when identifying any type of poison pertaining to the leaves....if 5 let it thrive & 3 let it be. It works! My Grandma used to make homemade soap & if I thought I had gotten in a patch of poison I would rub the soap on arms as soon as I came inside. That really worked! Kept me from getting a breakout of the rash! Good luck! BTW Ollie & Harry are precious fur babies! Well...1 with no fur is precious too!

Mary and Peter (and fury/no fur friends) I am a nursing student, and sometimes when I work or volunteer with children a cool trick I have showed kids to remember their medicines and also be creative at the same time is a trick I actually learned as a child from my dad for outdoor survival... For survival you bring strands of thread with you in your pack if outdoor hiking or adventures and if lost you can monitor the distance you have gone so far by creating knots in the threads for equal distance marks that you have accomplished that way you can keep track, but for medicine I told the kids that they can do the same but by making knots I the thread for each dose they successfully take and at the end of each week add the threads up together and create some cool personal bracelets.

For Poison Ivy or oak/ sumac etc. best treatment is 5:1 water to Clorox. Dab on 4-5 daily. Will dry it up and usually gone in less than a week. Also Mary, I have learned the value of missing a pill from time to time. You never know when your prescriptions will be filled late or whatever. With this virus issue, I couldn’t see my doctor for a week or so and I’m on a drug that will cause withdrawal symptoms. Since I had missed the occasional pill, I was able to stretch it out until I could get my new meds. God always provides and has a bigger plan than we can ever imagine.

I am on meds in the morning and in the evening and my tip to remembering is to set my alarm for 6:00am for my morning meds and then I set a reminder on my phone for my pm meds. I don’t have to take my pm meds at a specific time so if I miss taking them at 6pm then it’s no big deal. Just as long as I take them before going to bed. My am meds are a different story. I need to take them at the time I set it for. I chose 6 am because I would normally get up for work at that time. Since the quarantine I haven’t been working. I still maintain the 6am med time because I know when all of this is over and I go back to work I will need to remember again. I was always told that if you come in contact with a poisoned plant to put calamine lotion on it.

Straight bleach compress on that denatured the itchy chemical and shortens recovery time. I doubted it and was afraid but it has worked really well for me every time. If compressing is too scary, just scrub it with a paper towel with straight bleach and wait till it burns and run it under water. You will have to do the scrubbing more often than the compress for it to work as well but I was so glad someone told me about it because when I get a poison anything rash it will take me at least 2 weeks of suffering and most often a whole month because the blisters pop and it would spread.

Hi Guys , Mary , where you take an AM & PM dose of Trikafta , the half-life must be over 12 hours to allow for any mis-`Q`s or over lapping , so you would have been fine either way . Placebo testing = psychological ~ versus ~ biological reactionary events during medical study trials. Your mind might suggest contradictory results . Peter , is there oatmeal in the house !! , cook some up and let it cool // place in refrigerator ( or leave covered out side for an hour ) and once the paste ( it should be like paste ) just cooled , place on your arm and wrap with gauze . That should cut down in the inflammation , your immune system is in hyper drive and as a result it is causing excessive inflammation. I hope this helps , thank for the update , you both will be as right as rain !! , Take care , Gary 

After I put the first drop in, I take that bottle off the mirror. Then I repeat until all bottles come off the mirror. Once done, I put them all back on the mirror for the next time. This is the only way I can keep track of dosing my eyedrops. 🙂

My suppertime meds, again are on kitchen counter and I see them, when making supper (or even if I am getting ready to go out for dinner, when we could.) Same with bedtime meds. Last thing I do is get a glass of water. Meds are right there. So I take them. I do not sleep well, if I don't take them...so I would know.

If it gets really itchy, dip a q-tip in bleach and rub it over the area. Of course don't get near your eyes are other sensitive areas. It will dry up the weepy areas and keep the "juice" from spreading. If it gets in your eyes.....get tot the urgent care; pronto! Did you try to wash it off with vinegar and then water. Once it is washed off if you have Epsom salt put some in a bowl and add warm/hot water not too hot you don't want to burn yourself. Then mix the water and Epsom salt until it dissolves. Take a rag or hand towel put it in the water and stir it around squeeze it out so it won't drip but still wet and wrap it around your arm. Leave it on for like 30 minutes. If you have any tea tree oil put some drops of that also in the water with the salt. That should help. I'm sure you don't have this but if you have "Bag Balm" it comes in a green can you could put that on there afterwards and put a gauze bandage over it. It should go away. What ever you do, go Not touch it and touch anywhere else on your body or you will have it there also. My brother and basically my whole family hunts and have gotten this stuff before. Thank the Lord I never got into that stuff and hot it. They told me it is horribly itchy. They may have over the counter now that they never had before.

I'm on about 10 different medications for my multiple chronic illnesses, one of which is a heart medication. While it's not such a big deal if I miss my evening dose of most of my medications, whenever I forget to take my heart med, I only have an hour after I would normally take it, to remember & take it. If I forget for more than an hour, I have to skip a dose. Thankfully, since they have an 11 hour half life, it's not too serious if I miss one dose, but it's obviously not ideal. However, I do have a timer on my phone for it, so it's rare that I forget.

I have linked Meds and teeth brushing before to help me remember. Or if it goes with food it can be remembered with eating breakfast and tea. What messes me up is if i have ones that need to be an hour before eating or 2 hours after. I have set alarms to remind me to take afternoon meds and then muted the alarm and got distracted on my way to take them.

I am crazy allergic to prison ivy! I have been using Tecnu since high school (15+ years) and haven't had it since! Anytime I'm doing yard work and I even think I've been exposed (the wind can blow and I'll get it) I make sure to obsessively use Tecnu pre-shower and follow all the directions. (Side note, I guess you can become unalleric at any time so that's a possibility but no way am I going to find out the hard way if I'm no longer allergic).

Calamine lotion! That's the best for poison ivy anyway. Aloe vera plant does help a bit as well. Just break one of the leaves open and plaster your skin in the juice. But as somebody who lives in poison ivy country oh, I can tell you that calamine lotion is the best.

I do forget to take my meds. It usually 1 or 2 times a week. I take it at 10:30pm. I always have my pill box in my purse. Just in case I am not home and I want to take my meds early. The earliest I can take it is 5pm and the latest is 11:30pm. I take carbamazepine. It is for my seizure disorder.

Take some Benadryl for that rash. You should get a cat backpack so Hairy can go on the walks too. It has a window so they can see out.

I take quite a few meds. I usually have one combler that has my morning and night meds in them sitting on a table close to my bed. That way I can take them before bed, and once I get Up out of bed. I then usually have a gallon ziplock bag in the kitchen on the dining room table or counter to remind me to take my dinner meds. If they’re in their “usual “ spots it should be hard to miss them. Especially once you have a routine down. There are somedays though that it’s inevitable that you will eventually forget something.... I’m sure you know all this though lol

I have 2 eye drops I need in the morning and then again at night with a third one. They're in the bathroom, so I do the first one when I get up, and then the second one after I get dressed and go in there to comb my hair. At night, as long as I remember one, it's usually fine. The hard one is my only pill. I would've kept all the meds together, but the pill is sensitive to moisture, so I have to keep it in the kitchen. I took it before work, until I realized half way there I forgot it, so I take it when I get home since I enter through the kitchen. I've only forgotten completely once in over 2 years, but I constantly couldn't remember if I took it or not, and if you don't count pills everyday, it's impossible to know. So, I downloaded a free app.

Honestly I've never had a good way to remember to take my meds. Now though it's gotten to a point that if I forget I really know about it, my meds live in a draw next to my bed and I've just got into the routine of taking them as soon as I wake up. I need to read the comments to get ideas off how to remember to take my night time meds.

Hi Peter (and Mary😄), Try Tecnu poison ivy and poison oak medication. They have a scrub or body wash and a cream. You can get it at CVS or probably at Walmart. My mom lives in TX and she has an area on her property that has poison sumac and she always ends up getting it when it’s time to do yard work in that area. She uses the Tecnu and it works great. The body wash version can be used in the laundry to wash the clothes that you had on during the exposure. Since it’s an oil from the leaves of the plant it can get on your clothes and even when you think they are washed and clean it can still be there and give ya the rash again. Mom found out the hard way with that, now she washes those items with the Tecnu and that works too. Hope it gets better soon. Love and hugs to you both. 😊
