I'm a Harley guy to the core.....I bought this exact same Vstar a couple months ago just because I got a good deal on it, parts are cheap so I had planned to Bob it out and flip it and make some money. I've ridden just about every cruiser there is and I gotta admit, Yamaha knows how to make a cruiser.....they're every bit as solid as a Harley, I've since changed my mind and decided to keep the Vstar.

Yamaha knows how to build a nice cruiser. They use them daily in many countries as main transportation. Many are used on vacations for long distance transportation to the vacation site. In other words they have to cut the mustard or they wont be purchased ever again.

I have a 2007 V Star 650 Custom and a 2008 Yamaha Raider S. Definitely brand loyal and my V Star was the first street bike I’ve ever owned. I don’t see myself ever selling either and if I never own another bike, I can still die a happy man. Not sure why Yamaha discontinued the large displacement bagger cruisers or even classic cruisers cause there’s a huge market out there for them, but that’s a decision way above my pay grade. 😂😂

Definitely take out one of the Harleys in the showroom. They certainly have a unique feel to them. I like the looks of a lot of cruisers, but definitely not a cruiser guy myself, the last cruiser I rode I was dragging peg around almost every turn (Suzuki M109R), that big Suzuki really wanted to corner like a sport bike, but the limited peg clearance was ending the fun early.

I watched, but more importantly, I listened, to the review on the 650 version. And you can really hear the difference, between the two. The 650 sounds like it idles much faster, and in the higher rpm range, you really start noticing that tinny sound, that you always expected with Japanese bikes. The 1100 has a much deeper rumble, that only a bigger bore can produce. I don't know, it might just be me, but it seems like all those bikes, when you get below the 800 or 900's do that though.
@Starriddin4 жыл бұрын
Jack Greenlee I owned the same bike shown. But, I changed the mono spring to 1000lb from the stock 500lb as I lowered it 1 and 1/2 inches, had Bub long straight pipes, and re-jetted the carburetor. I ran neck and neck with the Kawasaki 1500 MeanStreak and beat Every stock Harley I ran against. The sound is very deep and loud, especially with the baffles out! It does have a very low idle which, when combined with the baffleless pipes, make it sound like the pipes are under water at idle. But. When you crank it, it freaking roars!!! I also replaced the stock seat with a custom “potato chip” seat. Much thinner seat there ally made you feel like you were part of the bike, though, much less padding. The seat did make a huge visual improvement! Alas, the bike drowned in Hurricane Issac 2012. Great bike!!!

Something, I dislike for this 1100, no miroirs, abs break system, hazard and fog lights, 5 speeds instead of 6 speeds, no floor pads, hig pegs, no tachymeter and fuel indicator , no crash bar for long ride, sissy bar and ajustable suspension . However, this is a really good motorcycle and exactly what I like to ride. I tried a hayabusa before riding a motorcycle, I have bought a vstar and my friends bought a superbike and they have stopped to ride motorcycle after one year with some injuries. Myself, I was curiously afraid about riding position. This is the only one civilised 1100 cc, don't tried top speed on a 1100cc supersport before 3 years of experience. That doesn't look but it can slide in curves without to afraid. The weight is really acceptable. You can drive three days ride trip with that.
