Oh man, going into this game blind on the hardest difficulty, I applaud your bravery and good luck. I might have to start this up myself, I didn't play it much when it came out and kind of forgot about it. Hope you enjoy it

It might be bravery, it might be foolishness, we'll see, but I've wanted to try something like this for a very long time, hopefully I picked the right game!

Thank you very much! The tutorial was very confusing (partially my fault) but I appreciate the lack of hand-holding. Also editing made me see everything that I missed while playing!

good luck going in blind on the hardest difficulty! if you don't mind some tips from someone who played this game way, way too much: - At the start of the game, there will probably be some times where RNG really screws you over and it's effectively a forced failure. This will be less common as the game goes on because you'll unlock more hero classes, more skills on those heroes, and more trinkets to equip on those heroes, which will allow you to be more strategic and tactical with your approach in mitigating those situations. - Bringing more torches is a good call. While playing on lower light will give you a bit more loot, the additional cost of keeping your heroes alive at that increased difficulty (and vulnerability to RNG) costs significantly more than you gain. - The blue and orange arrows that appear over people's healthbars in battle are buffs and debuffs, and you can hover over them to see exactly what they do. - If you hover over a skill, the golden dots are what position the hero has to be in to use that skill and the red dots are which enemies that skill can hit. If the red dots are connected by a line, that means it's an AOE skill. If you right click on a hero to get to the page that shows a more detailed overview of that hero, then above the skills you'll be able to see which position that hero is most effective in. - Stuns are really, really good in general. The Plague Doctor's Blinding Gas in particular can stun two backline enemies in the same turn, which is immensely useful. In the turn after an enemy recovers from a stun, they'll get a temporary buff of 50% stun resist - later in the game you'll be able to chain stuns together using the right equipment, but right now this means that the chances of stunning the same enemy twice in a row are quite slim. - Whether or not you enable Butchers Circus or not won't make that much of a difference. Feel free to go whichever way you like on that. Not enabling the other DLCs was probably a good call, especially on the Crimson Court, because while that DLC is immensely fun, it will majorly screw you over if you're an inexperienced player.

Thank you very much! That's really helpful for me to focus on the important stuff. I was worried the dlcs would add a lot more complexity in an already confusing game. I was also looking at the dots above the skills to decide who to recruit next because they seem to have different intensity (edit: I figured it out, depends on how many attacks you select) but I don't want to check the wiki because I'm worried about spoilers. The in-game guide doesn't explain much, but I do not expect to win in the first attempt (technically already the second because I clicked too much). Do you know if there is anyone who did a low light challenge or something? If it's not popular like doing ironman in xcom, then probably I should just buy more torches before it's too late.

This game is unfair in my opinion, but because they tell you that failure is sometimes unavoidable you don’t mind when a situation arises where you get completely screwed over.

I have a lot of practice on "Unfair" (Into the Breach) to understand exactly when something went wrong but I forgot to show the warning as soon as you launch the game telling us that things will go badly at some point, so hopefully the forced failures will be interesting.

Well, that's the way to start, Yes, would be even funnier with dlc's. something something overconfidence something something killer.

It's not overconfidence, it's just that I used to play it safe and waste hours on normal, now I'm fully prepared to die and learn from it, hopefully
