My friends and i have played Dread for the past four years! We've done a 1920's Knives Out murder mystery, a Thalasophobia WW2 Submarine horror, and a 1980's slasher horror game, and a Space horror Alien style game! Can't wait to find out what we do this year!

it’s so fun watching how freaked out everyone else gets when i’m pulling from the tower ✨

I just want to say, Chiara, Dan, or Kit (or all of the above) can perform emergency surgery on me any time after this. I swear, it was getting to Wages of Fear / Sorcerer levels of suspense there in the final half hour before the tower ultimately gave out.

Dread was one of the more memorable one-shots we've played at our big annual Halloween party. We had a giant, person-sized Jenga tower for it, and played a fanmade adventure about mining ice in the rings of Saturn. Favorite part was when, to save everyone from the monster, I full-body tackled the jenga tower to sacrifice myself. It was the only sacrifice of the night, which was probably a good thing cause it took quite a bit of time putting it back together!

A friend of mine asked for Dread for birthday last year. Ran a folk horror / sci-fi thing. So much death and mayo. It was glorious.

My favorite horror system! My group is wrapping up a 2-shot this weekend with a “Wild West Wendigo” theme. We were considering another 2-shot for a space themed adventure, too!

That was great! Super tense in the end :-S Dael, it was great to see you GMing; your descriptions and mood were spot on (and great turret sound effects!) I hope we get to see you run some more games 💪 To your crew: excellent story!

I love Dread as a system. It's my favorite to run one-shots in, regardless of the season. It's got such a lovely kind of intensity. ^^

I played Dread once. It was really cool, but then my roommate brought weed cake pops. He did not read the dosage info, and we assumed that one cake pop = one dose. Within an hour 2/4 of us were greened out and I was as close as humanly possible to it without actually succumbing. I do not remember how the game ended. I am so, so sorry to our GM, she was doing a great job.

How'd it go?? What was the scenario you ran?
@Door_to_the_North2 ай бұрын
@@MonarchsFactory I ran the beneath the full moon scenario. 5 players. we played outside in the dark by a fire on a sloped and rickety table. It went well. They were extremely unwilling to abandon a pull so it got dicey fast. I also took the liberty of causing an environment hazard instead of death on the first topple. Of the 5 I had one escape, but I took liberties as you did on the final topple. I actually really liked it. Players had a good time. Ran Stars and Wishes afterwards. one of them wished that they could play on a flat surface with less "distractions". I took it as a compliment.

The "PvP" at the end should (rule-wise, not imperatively) have been pulls by the alive players. The dead player is an npc. If they make the tower fall, who dies?
@MonarchsFactory2 ай бұрын
I know, but homebrewing is in my blood. My biggest gripe with Dread is having a player die and then they just have to sit around and not interact, and I think there's something fun in letting the "zombie" interact with the tower to try and make things harder on the still living characters, particularly because if you get a death in the climax, a freshly rebuilt tower really kills the tension because it's way more solid now. If Cyrus had toppled the tower again he'd be out for good.
