My go-to strategy is to capture the female pawns, remove all limbs, and forcibly impregnate them. (Children mod is OP for this reason) I sort the kids, male and female. Females go back into the breeding rooms to be stumped and plumped. The men are converted into organs, meat, and leather. It's like working for Tyson foods.

One of my first games of rimworld also took me down a dark path, I saw I could play smoke leaf and the other weird drug plant. I started a drug trading empire and started expanding into weapons and alcohol and organ trading. I was so wealthy that I just got bored by the end. I though this is just how you play all the time. I was hooked.

Drug trafficking, organ harvesting and cannibalism was funny, sure. I was content with that. amazing how one jackass with a poor 22% stone club back dooring your base and smashing in a cat's head can change you. But it did. I save scummed until I didn't kill them. Death? Death was too good. Limbless. Mindscrew. Regular beatings. They got glitter meds, I would not let them die. But even that wasn't enough. I had to download mods that let me be even more evil. More torture. More punishment. I took everything from them but their life. Teeth, limbs, organs... dignity... Soon it wasn't enough to simply kill and repurpose the raiders. They needed to suffer. I had nothing to gain but catharsis. I still have that save file. I still could go back and continue their torment. It still calls to me. ... Yeah my first game took me to dark places too lol

Listen, the dead don’t need their skin and meat, but my people need food and fashion. As for the organ harvesting, that’s just Karma for raiding a peaceful settlement and being a crappy pawn. Now regarding cutting the legs off a dude, pumping him full of happy drugs, implanting a joy wire and psychic harmoniser so that all nearby pawns feel better about themselves, well that’s just genius and a fun addition to the Rec room. Ok sure, cutting off a prisoners limbs, giving them wooden pegs in their place, and removing those pegs only to reinstall them over and over till the prisoner dies, might seem cruel. But my doctor needs to train somehow right?

I still remember my first succesful colony: -30 hours into the game -10 failed colonies -last colony failed because pyro had mental break -I developed a phobia of mental breaks -new colony -2 hrs into the game our hunter gets mauled by a squirrel -she is rushed to the hospital, almost died, both legs are heavily damaged -her mood is in the red -I panic because of ptsd from last colony -search operation tab to see if anesthesia is possible (never tried before) -30 ways of ripping organs from her body -get so scared I miss the anesthesia option -believe there is no anesthesia -what do I do? -one of the pirates we killed had a lot of weed -force her to smoke a blunt -she feels better -force her to smoke two more -emergency averted -start growing a little bit of weed -5 hours in -colonist loses kidney -remember scary operation tab -rip one kidney out of the pirate who shot his kidney -the colonist is back to normal -8 hours in -weed sells for 11 a joint (or something) - grow more weed and start selling it for cool materials and equipement. -10 hours in -colonist loses lung -replace just like before, realise I should keep "spares" -12 hours in -we need more defenses. Our economy is now weed based, but the money from weed doesn't cover the costs of all the armors and weapons I want -start selling spare organs -colonists are now depressed because we are trafficking organs. -the colony is always stoned to numb the pain of our grim job. -I need a better way to make money and also better drugs, weed only makes them slow -research yayo -20 hours in -I now control the greatest cocaine factory on the planet, it is more convenient to sell than organs or weed. -don't even need research anymore, we just buy what we need with drug money. The lesson I learned: you either die a good man or live long enough to see yourself becoming Pablo Escobar

Rimworld is how I imagine crack cocaine would be as a game. You see someone else doing it and having a very successful go at it so you decide you should try it. Your fist attempt feels great but the end comes to soon and you didn’t even accomplish 1/100th the other person. So you keep trying it. It keeps getting less and less fun but you learn how to make each go last longer and more successful. As you continue things you once considered morally wrong begin to fall into a grey category as the moral wrongness is offset by the increase in attempt length. Eventually you win and the feeing is euphoric but the enjoyment is quickly gone and the only thoughts in your head are about how many crimes you committed in order to win. In fact you feel more hollow than ever before and all you want to do you is have an attempt that is even faster next time. So you do. In fact this keeps repeating until you are surpassing the youtuber or twitch streamer you once watched and you realize that they weren’t having fun when you watched them. It was closer to an obsession like you are now. Your feeble attempts at getting a dopamine rush are all thwarted by the feeling of your first successful colony… in time you force yourself to quit and the feeling of living slowly returns to your life but nothing feels the same anymore. You just wish you never did it in the first place… 11/10 incredible game don’t play it.

I know how you feel this was my review 3 years ago... Rimworld is a good game ... if you define licking rust off the bottom of the bumper of your grandpa's pickup truck as "good". As you're doing this, your diluted mind tells you that you're enjoying something that is disturbing your neighbors but you just can't stop yourself. So you stay up playing for 46 hours straight trying to develop your colony... just so that they can get moody and beat the shit out of each other right before getting raided by alien cyborgs. Fuck it.. ragequit and get some sleep.. best of luck after you're awake... the next 36 hours is a lucid dream and you can't help to see other people around you as colonists while hearing that damn theme song playing in your head over and over and over again... it never ends... please make it stop. so yeah Great game 10/10 dont play it

It's colony management, you have to develop a balance between defense, food, comfort, and mood management. If it gets too shitty just savescum and lower the difficulty, nbd. Then bring it back up when you have things figured out.

When i first played rimworld i knew what i was getting myself into but i'm notorious for not doing anything evil in games because i'm a bit of a softie. I thought this would apply to rimworld as well but thinking back on it, I had slaves, i organ harvested for my colony and for the people who were extremely difficult to recruit, or if we just didn't have enough resources i turned them into resources. I think I've done everything in this game except surprisingly cannibalism.

Cannibal runs are extremely fun, I'd 100% recommend it. Obviously use a mod like prepare carefully to give all your pawns the cannibal trait so they don't freak the fuck out over butchering and eating random raiders that tried to kill them not but about a day earlier. Dig into a mountain (watch for infestations, though), get some hydroponics and use the Raids for Me mod to insult other colony leaders over the radio and you have infinite food, even in the frozen north where nothing will grow outside.

I remember the first time I played rimworld I got a small hut set up for each of the colonists. Got a small hospital area up and running and started making a kitchen when winter hit and all of my crops died. My doctor was the first to go due to starvation, soon after my farmer got sick and with no doctor she shortly passed. I was desperate to keep my last guy alive and had him butcher her for meat. after the first time eating human he flew into a depressive rage and destroyed a bedroom wall and froze to death.

the father of one of my colonists joined the colony. He unfortunately died. colonist sad. we buried him. a colonist had a mental break and dug him up, placing him on the dining table, causing the son to have a mental break (things werent going well). I got frustrated and made the son eat the father raw on the table to get rid of the body - the whole thing. He was catatonic for days. We all start off as innocent children, but oh how the world corrupts us so.

I'm watching this as I'm playing an alien colony that only wants to eat humans. We are only 1.5 years in but it's a challenge! My most favorite colony ever was living on the top north pole and they were human eaters. Survived a long long time with just 3 colonists and then died to 57 manhunter wolves. 🙃 My first game I was totally chill and just used it as a building game. And then my hubby showed me everything else and now I am horrifying. I cannot even tell my friends or family about this game they would lock me away. 😂😂 Best game I have played in a long long time.

In most playthroughs I have a specific story in mind- what kind of people are running this colony? I limit my decisions to those that'd be appropriate. Even before getting the ideology DLC I did this sort of thing, thus only did the full warcrimes meme once. It's a fun challenge to try to be a decent group of people in a game that contains systems that largely punish that sort of behavior. On my pro-industrial non-flesh purity neutral/evil playthroughs I tend to do this thing where I never execute prisoners and instead harvest a kidney and a lung then send them on their way back home. It's a net positive for faction relations, and it sends a message that 'if you raid me, even if you come back you'll be less of a man for it' while getting me an extra 500 odd silver per captured non-recruited enemy pawn c:

I've considered doing a run where I'm trying to free slaves, not because I dislike slavery, but because it's the exact opposite of what I typically do. I also realize realistically purchasing slaves, even to free them, just makes slavery more profitable for the slavers and less likely to be stopped in like real world context. At the same time, I kinda like the idea that this group of goodie two shoes doesn't understand that and spends their whole life savings accidentally bolstering the thing they hate in the name of destroying it.

@@Mady0 I've thought about the 'buying slaves to free them' problem before, and I think it's more complicated than just reinforcing the institution by retaining its profitability. Many slaves are bred into bondage rather than captured, so removing enough slaves from circulation, even by purchasing them, will result in less slaves being in bondage overall even if it lines the pockets of those participating in it in the short term. Also, if you buy out every single one of some guy's slaves they might see it as a good opportunity to cash out entirely- if slavery makes them uneasy on some level having an opportunity to exit the trade immediately without losing any of their investment might be appealing. Basically in these examples I'm just pointing out that there are chaotic long-term considerations when making any sort of evaluation on the effects of an action On the topic of Rimworld playthroughs more specifically, one fun thing I did was a hyper-militant supremacists that were on the warpath to annihilate the hostile-by-default raider type factions. Abolitionist humanism vibes here too. These fellows knew that violent systems could only be eradicated with violent, righteous terror! 'Complicity for the greater good' wasn't in their playbook, lol. I was inspired by Starsector's Luddic Church when I started that particular run, so naturally they were communist flesh-purity AI-haters as well

My games since day one has always been the following: Day 1: Grow lots of weed, profit. Day 60: Everyone slowly builds a dependency on weed, fine not a problem we still grow in grand excess. Day 63: A drought appears, no weed, everyone is beginning to one by one violently act out and attack each other. Day 69: No one is happy and slightly injured from almost murdering one another. Day 70: Finally, the long 13-hour work shifts and lack of weed all come crashing down as someone's friend/loved-one is murdered in a fit of drug withdrawal psychosis which in return creates a domino effect of rage and violence spiraling till there is no one left to bring them back to salvation. Anyways don't do drugs and rather raise some chickens instead.

when you download enough mods you get the reward of having 40 different types of resources that arent in the base game, Every mod basically has its own type of coal. On the subject of mods I know some of you downloaded *Those* mods, And I do silently judge you based on how cursed it looks.

You go from "I'll devote my efforts into building my colony of lawfull citizens, bonding with other factions and establishing trade routes to develop the world's economy. I'll defend myself, but never be the agressor" to "Fuck it, big crime = big money. Bask in the beauty of my walls made of solid gold and floor made of pristine silver. My enemies will become my profit and my amusement." really fucking fast. but it is only a game. You just get... a little bit more darker. You sense of humor starts swinging towards the dark jokes, your vision of the world get a little bit more morbid, but overhall you're still the same. After all, it's not like slaughtering people and selling clothes made from their skins irl is as easy as it looks like on the Rim. Don't think it's proftable, either, tho I can see how the Druglord career made it's way.

literally this game brings out your most sadistic side so to speak, your morale collapses when you tried it for good so you start killing everything you see, in fact the same thing happened to me. I was very tired of being good that the game always kicked me in the balls and after knocking down a 15-year-old assailant, I had nothing but a knife along with the others and I obviously had medicine but I didn't just rescue him, I sent a colonist to approach him and shoot him and at that moment I felt enormous happiness because I had lost 2 colonists because of him, so I said "well, I think that if the game wants me to take this path so satisfying then I will do it." I will choose¨ after that I began to take a little pleasure in doing a bit of War Crimes and cannibalism until I finally reached the end of the game, there would be a last assault if in a last act of Humanity I freed all my slaves , prisoners and send them away from the place so that later the assailants come, a huge mass of 50 and I said at that moment ¨Well, this is the end I will not be able to finish the game¨, I put my settlers in position and by the time they approached I ordered them to open fire, the combat was brutal, hand-to-hand combat, my animals falling like flies, it was a massacre until I ordered the ship to retreat, not without first finishing off many wounded so that they would not suffer, then activate the button on the ship and I finally made it but... At what cost? I felt a sense of emptiness all this to kill and eat many victims, many of them minors... After that I made another game but it was too late, I already got the morbid taste and I did the same cycle but at a if I did certain actions of humanity and compassion, in conclusion: this game lets you get out all that wild and sadistic side that you have but in a healthy way so to speak but the feeling that it leaves you in part is like something of emptiness like ¨ What the fuck have I become?¨

It was such a simple game when I first played it. The only food in the game was nutrient paste(and colonists hated it lmao) the only biome was desert the only animal was muffalo(you couldn't do anything with them). Even then I fell in love with the game.

imma be honest even when i first played rimworld my first colonies i never harvested organs or butchered humans, the debuffs are too awful for it to even be viable, drugs manufacture in the other hand are supreme i always felt weird cause every rimworld video has organ harvesting and cannibalism yet when i tried it the first time colonies i was playing it was even worse than starvation or raiders, the breakdowns could decimate your colony at any instant

@@officerwalrus this dlc wasnt a thing when many first played this game when sseth made the famous video, and to make a cannibalistic colony you either have to use mods to add the cannibal status to everyone or reroll infinite times all colonists to roll cannibal which does not mean they will have good stats at all And if you dont want to go through that trouble you would have to deal with -248763648846 mood debuff for butchering and using human leather clothing and consuming human meals which will cause any random colonist to instantly kick fuel tanks while half of the colony is having a tantrum and a few are going berserk mortally injuring the rest of colonists while winter aproaches in 2 days and also while you are under siege

@@lonewanderer1328 not all colonists roll those traits and if they do its not guaranteed they are a viable colonist, they could have fucked up organs that cant be healed plus addictions plus shitty stats plus terrible scarring Even if you used mods to add all colonists as psychopaths bloodlust etc eventually not all your colony will be made out of psychos since you will almost never find a viable colonist with the traits naturally through recruitment
