Saint Seiya is my favorite anime, it’s very cool and poethic. There are many fans of it here in Brazil. Nice reaction!

Saint Seiya is about armored warriors who serve the goddess Athena. She has been reincarnated as Saori Kido, but she does not know it at right away. The high preist has betrayed her and fooled many of her followers. The gold saints are the strongest and their contellations are the twelve signs of the zodiac. The main character are all orphans who are bronze saints. The weakest level. like the first two opening themes. The score written by Seiji Yokoyama is very good too. It is from 1986. Kimagure Orange Road and Bubblegum Crisis also have lots of good songs.

Seiya is Pegasus, Phoenix is named Ikki, Cygnus (pigeon) is Hyoga, Dragon is Shiryu and the last one is Andromeda and he is named Shun 😬

This is about Greek mythology. There're 88 saints/knights in the entire series, 12 of which are golden saints (from the 12 constellations of the zodiac), they're Athena's elite and the strongest knights. The other saints are representatives of the other constellations, there are three types of knights, gold, silver (8:21 the women in masks are silver Amazons, Athena's female warriors cannot show their faces) and bronze. The story revolves around the 5 bronze saints and the goddess Athena, who was reincarnated in a human body. She and her knights protect the earth from the other Greek gods, mainly Poseidon and Hades who try to destroy Athena to dominate the Earth.

@@hypermithos iirc, "Amazon" was a localization in some dubs, I might be really wrong here but I remember the Brazilian dub calling them "Amazonas" just like they called the Saints "Cavaleiros" (Knights).

Hello! I'm Brazilian! As mentioned in other comments, the original Saint Seiya anime was a huge success in Brazil! And to help, here are the names of the opening themes... - OP1: Pegasus Fantasy (sung by Nobuo Yamada) - OP2: Soldier Dream (sung by Hironobu Kageyama) - OP3: Chikyuugi (sung by Yumi Matsuzawa) - OP4: Megami no Senshi - Pegasus Forever (sung by Marina Del Rey)

Something worth pointing out is this is only the openings for the first anime series and it's sequel, which adapts the events of the first manga. There are tons of other Saint Seiya stuff from sequels (both canon and non-canon) prequels, spin-offs, side-stories, and at least two modern adaptations.

React to the opening and full ending of the "Saint Seiya - The Lost Canvas" too, it's a spin-off and the story takes place in the 18th century (far before the era of Saint Seiya). As there is only one opening I recommend you can also check out the full ending "Hana No Kusaki" (Full AMV).

Saint Seiya was a runaway success all over the world, except in the United States, due to a very bad distribution and translation. In Latin America, Europe, and all of Asia, the series was a hit. It would have been a bigger success than Dragon Ball, if the series had not fallen into a 10 year gap between the Poseidon saga, and the Hades saga. It also became famous because the characters shed liters and liters of blood and tears alike, haha.... PS: The live action movie released by Sony last year, was a total disaster for not knowing how to respect what makes this series great and epic.

this anime was name Knights of the Zodiak and the america version is so censured that it floped there, like many other importants animes like Mazinger Z (Tranzor Z), or One Piece. in México was a fenomenon. and is no pigeon is Swan.

The gold saints are the most powerful saints in the show excluding the main 5, andromeda, phoenix ikki, dragon shiryu, pegasus seiya, cygnus hyoga, the hades chapter is the best saga of all the show besides the 12 casas saga, they fight hades and these greek gods

This anime was very successful before dragon ball. I know that in the US they "remake" an ugly version completely transform because they didn't like some caracteres. the anime is finished but there is some spin off. Il is still successfull in latin countries where people made ther home made spin off in comic book. You shoold try it but in Original version subtitled. the story is about 5 Saint (or knights) with armor. They protect Athena against her ennemies.
