Any time Angelina closes her eyes, you know you're in for a treat. She's off to her special place, and she lets us go with her. I find Angelina's covers interesting in how much more emotion she packs into the song than many of the original artists. You've heard the words and the tune dozens of times, but you never really understand the emotional impact of the song until you hear Angelina's version.

When I first heard her say, at 8, while appearing on 'The View ', a U.S. television show, and said she first began singing jazz at 1-1/2, it immediately told me that we were looking at someone who functions on a genius level. Then, when I heard that her doting grandmother had written and recited her own poetry on a program called 'Radio Iran' at the age of 4, and she was the main impetus for Angelina being introduced to jazz songs so very early in life, I thought, who but another genius to know the potential a granddaughter could have with regard to absorbing and performing vocally at an age when even experts would never have thought it possible? When it comes to geniuses , I guess you could say, 'It takes one to know one'.

Genius Exceptional intellectual or creative power, the greatest musical genius of our time is Angelina Jordan. Can one be hypnotized by sound? Shamans use rhythmic drumming and chanting to achieve control over a mind. Angelina's is unique in that she has the ability to create audios that trigger your brains "frequency following response". She has the ability to create a euphoric addiction to her total being similar to drugs, but without the side effects, she is in fact, like nothing I have ever experienced in the past.

Angelina said Adele is an inspiration for her. Adele creates wonderful personal music and performs it beautifully. When Angelina covers Adele it is extra extra special. If you listen to Angelina and Adele back to back, you will find both similarities and differences. To me Angelina has a warmer and richer voice and her singing touches me more than Adele does. @@pietersbart Her performances of “Mount Everest” were brilliant. They displayed so much of what we’ve come to love about Angelina. What an explosive start to her two concerts. Boom 💥, she dove in and left the audience shell-shocked. First, hardly anyone knew of the song before she sang it. And second, it was so short, it left everyone wanting more. Angelina has the habit of presenting a cover in such a way that if you heard her version first (before the original), you would have no issue believing that it was her song. The emotional intensity is there, as is the sincerity of the message. The verification would be that if you then heard the original (assuming you didn't know or weren't told the artists' names) you would not be able to tell who the original artist actually is.

AJ is dressed circa 1910. All she needs is the hat! BTW I completely agree that her style in this performance is a mashup of Amy, Adele, and Billie. What's insane is that her performance of "I Have Nothing" is so Whitney, with (as always) a bit of Billie.
@paulwagner9303 Жыл бұрын
Not sure about the dress, but the hairdo is the same one she wore when she covered a song Frank Sinatra popularized - You Make Me Feel So Young - (just before?), similar to the original artist's Hairdo from the 1940s. Apparently she just changed her dress here - at least the hairdo has nothing to do with the period of Adele's song.

Britt!! You were so mellow in this reaction.. and you sounded really good when you sang Angelina's choice to "go up 3 steps then period"!! You can sing Girl! I don't know that she's ever worn this particular look ever again, except for this time.. maybe Grandma Mery wanted her to do something different.. but the voice, THAT voice just takes center stage, combine it with vocal fry, and it becomes a classic, like her looks here . All she needed was gloves and a parasol😉 Bottom line, she's a master of successfully giving props to the original version, yet finds places to weave in her vocal ornaments and colors that turn it into more than a torch song... Keep singing here and there during her reactions, it's cool and on key👍🏻🔥🎼🎤🎹🎶🎸🎧🎵🎙️🎻🎶🎶PEACE!!

Hi Britt, Once again Angela's jazzy voice has made an Adele cover her own. I want to thank you for the information you provided that educated me on the different nuances of her vocal interpretation. Angelina hair and clothing is reminiscent of how women dressed in the late nineteenth and early 20th century. She would have been wearing a long skirt. The blouse is a fancy version of what was called a shirtwaist. Women at that time always worn their hair long so they had to keep it pinned up the way Angelina has it. You should check out the music video of her covering the song "I'm still holding out for you" because they used still photographs of her at age ten dressed in the same time period. She has this timely beauty about her.

Yep, another head shaker. You highlighted one of my 2 favorite parts of this performance (the "...it would taste" line). The other is where she just drags the vocal through the gravel in the line "We were born and raised, in a summer haze, bound by". It is the "bound by" part where she really digs in. She does this in Billie Jean as well (right around the 2:00 mark with the line "so take my strong advice"- here she digs in on the word advice), so this seems to be one of the many vocal textures she has in her pocket that she uses to great effect. It sounds like the era/period you are linking her appearance to here (the updo hairstyle and dress you described) is Victorian period from the late 19th century. I have seen it written somewhere that she has said she likes many of the styles of from the past and wants to bring them back. She certainly carries herself with a poise and elegance that is rare today...

Did you notice how she accidentally sang "but invited" at one point, instead of "uninvited" (at around 4:34 here in this reaction)? She actually made that same mistake (and quite a few others) when she sang the same song at roughly half the age (at 6 or 7). kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3TIonR5h8yAiZo _So_ cute…🤗 This video - one of many recorded in a modest recording studio in Oslo - includes footage of her listening to playback of the vocal(s) she just recorded. I can't tell for sure, but it looks like she's dissatisfied with her performance (or I guess she could have just been bored). I can't help but think she must have been a little bummed when she started to hear studio recordings of her voice and realized just how far she needed to go, to be as good as her idols like Adele and Whitney. (Fortunately, she didn't have to wait too long for that to happen!) BTW, the lettering on the sweater/jacket/cardigan/whatever that she's wearing, which is hard to see in this particular video, says, "Ruthless & Toothless".😆 And finally… so as not to leave you with the impression that her time in the studio was "all work and no play", here's a much more "animated" Angelina at around the same age, listening to playback of her recording of "What a Wonderful World" and "acting out" the lyrics for the camera. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZ6amWCBr7xonLM

Angelina singing to a karaoke backing track is a different experience to when she can dictate the arrangement and tempo. She is forced to desert some of her languid phrasing tendencies, which often leaves the impression that she is attempting to impersonate or inadvertently sounds like the singer she is covering. But I firmly believe that had Angelina been the originator of some of her covers, not only would Adele's, Rihanna's, Lana's and others' versions not get much attention, I doubt they would even try.
