When I watch Angelina I can't help to think that she really is living the songs she sings deep inside. I have heard a reactor saying "Angelina is one of the very, very, few who is able to paint a song with her voice". I liked that because it is so difficult to put in words what we are seeing when Angelina is performing. And I agree fully: Lucy and Angelina are equally talented, each in their own unique way. Both have the gift to trigger emotions at their audience.

The song "When We Believe" is a powerful anthem of hope and faith. I have listened to Lucy Thomas's rendition, and it did not move me emotionally or physically. However, Angelina Jordan's version transported me to a different realm of sensation and expression. She has a unique gift of captivating the audience with her voice and interpretation. © Larry D. Hi, tears in the eyes and goosebumps, that's completely normal, I feel like that all the time, there's something in her voice that you can't describe but these emotions hit you in your heart and soul and the effect is, I want to become a better person and it fills me with peace.

This is actually a mash-up of her voice with the orgininal backing track (and of course Whitney and Mariah at the end). I don't have an issue with such mash-ups in general, I would just like them to make it more clear, that this is not her creation. Her original cover is on the Republic Records channel, and there she is only accompanied by a piano.

Maria, yes, she is selective. When she considers singing a song she looks for the message of love in it. Whatever the storyline is in some shape or form love appears and Angelina grabs onto that and goes with it with her interpretation of the love. When she sings songs expressing moments we know she could have never experienced we wonder why we believe what she is singing. It's because there is love in every moment and she feels it when she is singing and she is so genuine we know what she is feeling is very real. Maria, is there any doubt she is a messenger of love? Vocally she is already in a master class. Her arrangements are skillfully done and she has not stopped refining and perfecting the 'gift' she was born with. The tone of her voice is beautiful but it is so much more than that. Her soulfulness transitions into waves of love when we hear her sing for us. This particular video is a great example of what happens to us while we are listening to her (btw captivated by every word she sings). Our hearts recognize the love in her voice and cannot resist. I've listened to this particular video hundreds of times and well before the 'bonus' shows up my love for her consumes me. My brain? It's taking some time off while this is going on. My heart is running the show. She takes us with her into her world when she sings. Our brain hasn't told us to go there. Our heart has. Maria, only Angelina.........

She takes on the two separations originally created together by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, bringing into play a huge essence of Billie Holiday as she slows it down to extract every thread of musicality possible, a technique that Billie did like no other singer before her. It reinforces why Angelina said that, 'if not for Billie, there would be no Angelina'. It's one thing, wanting to tap into Billie's singing genius, but quite another to actually be able to do it with the emotion Billie would bring to a song like this.

Thank you for your honesty and your knowledge. The only other version of this song that I am familiar with is the original by two of the greatest divas of all time, Whitney and Mariah. They, of course, gave a spectacular performance although, in some parts of it, these powerful artists seemed to eschew the deeply spiritual meaning of the song and turn it into almost a belting and "run" competition (just my opinion, no disrespect intended). Apart from her otherworldly, incomparably beautiful voice, one of Angelina's greatest talents, from since she was a little girl (thus reinforcing the "old soul" theory), has always been her ability to wring the utmost emotion out of every song she sings and gently deliver that emotion straight into our hearts and souls. Here, she seems to beautifully and totally embody the profound spirituality of the song and to actually "feel" every word, thus transporting us into her own space where we can also feel everything she intends for us to feel. I know of no other artist who is able to do that with such amazing consistency. As you so astutely observed, this goes beyond just singing. As a tiny little girl, she clearly stated that one of her goals was to sing for the world. What she didn't say then, perhaps because she may have been too young to realize it, is that she is also going to change the world.

The original video was published when she was 15 years old, during her beloved grandmother Mery's fight against a very serious illness. It's obviously a prayer, and she becomes, if she was not already, the spiritual leader of her family from this moment: she sings this song to give strength to her grandmother, to herself, and her whole family. Some time later she sang this song again on TikTok but with a quite different feeling. Her grandmother is happily recovered. By the way, great reaction. Happy new year! 😊

Happy New Year Maria! Angelina can and already has affected change, in myself and many others whose comments I have read. Angelina provided me HOPE when I needed it most, after losing 5 loved ones in 3+ years. I stumbled on one of her videos and in a short time frame, my mood and spirit had been greatly improved.
