Hei Teo, thanks for following my invitation yesterday to explore Angelina! I'm glad you like her (how could someone not...?). Awesome artist just as Marina! Again, some background: Angelina was born to a family of musicians in southern Italy, not Sicily though, but the region of la Basilicata which is next to Puglia. Both of her parents were/are great artists and vocalists, her belated dad being the famous singer / songwriter "Mango" who died a tragic death from a heart attack on stage while performing one of his most famous songs, that was nine years ago, Angelina was 13 then and both she and her mom were in the audience of that venue when it happened... Also her brother is a great musician and arranger, he did the arrangement for strings in the next song by Angelina I'd recommend you to watch: "La Rondine" is also a live performance from that San Remo festival, it is a song written by her father which she performed on the evening when they had to sing a cover. A very brave decision to honor her dad in that way, Mango also had participated in the San Remo competition several times but never managed to win... And now, decades later his daughter comes along, wins the show and salutes her dad by bringing one of his great songs to life again... There is a video of her as a child singing that same song as a duet together with daddy, and even the lyrics must be very personal to her "... sei nel cielo sbagliato, you're in the wrong sky..." - You can imagine that this was a very emotional challenge for Angelina, but she mastered it in an adorable way... It also shows her versatility, because in this you will experience a very different side of her music... And in between these two extreme poles she has a great amount of videos and live performances as she's been doing music for basically of her life. At some later point I also recommend to check out her parents who also have great performances as a couple, but that may wait until you got to know her a little better... I discovered Angelina some weeks prior to Marina, so I'm a bit more familiar with the first one, but lately I caught up on Marina's catalogue and now I'm really confused because truly both of them are gorgeous artists who deserve to win ESC, I wish both of them could, anyway I will continue to follow both... And yesterday I've heard the contibution of Armenia, a group called 'LADANIVA', they are also a very good ensemble, vocally and musically... It will be a tough competition this year.
