He was a joke writer for Jimmy Fallons show but most of the jokes he presented although Jimmy liked them he couldn’t use because they were too dark especially one about obese people. So Fallon convinced him that he was too good to be just a writer for a late night talk show.

@@ContrarianCorner he wasn’t fired, he actually quit after doing a gig at a NYC comedy club and the producers according to him said they knew it was coming because he has to be himself and writing clean jokes isn’t his style. Comedy Central hired him to be the joke writer for their roasts.

@@andrewft31 I was just kidding about Anthony's case, but I did work in Hollywood for many years and actually know some people who _were_ fired from jobs with lines like that. In a business run on fear, people are reluctant to make enemies because they never know if the person they fire one day will be their boss the next. Because of that, they'll often feed you endless platitudes about how "amazing and talented" you are while showing you the exit at the same time. Thanks for the backstory on AJ, though. I love this guy!

Everything about Anthony Jeselnik's stand-up is artificial, everything from head to toe. From the way he moves, articulates sounds or words, his delivery in general and of course the plot of his stories above all. None of these elements are real, that's why his comedy is very well crafted. All these elements are designed for maximum exaggeration, that's what makes it funny. Anthony comes across as a stone-cold sob, because that's what the comedy needs to function properly - distance. From his stage persona to his real self, to the characters in his stories and the crowd at his shows. I'd recommend Henri Bergson's book "Laughter" for a more detailed picture on comedy and laughter. It helps in understanding the question "Why do we laugh?".
