For most idols, I think the breathing might be intentional (I wouldn't know tbh) but for Ateez it's not, San actually told us that (for this specific choreo) the mic catches a lot of their breathing so when the ending is done, they asked if they could turn off the mics cause their breathing is that strong and he said that rather than a cool breathing sound lol, he said it's a breathing sound where it sounds like they need air, and on a radio show he said "so this time, we really prepared the choreo a lot, to the point where we can't breathe. You dance it once and then collapse. We need about 3 minutes to catch our breath in order to refresh so we can dance at full power." So, when you see Ateez visibly breathing hard at the end, they're legitimately out of breath, and when the choreo isn't as taxing (which is rare), like eternal sunshine for example, then you won't see them breathing so hard, cause they're not doing it to be cute or sexy but to actually get some air in their lungs 😭 Not to mention the fact that they were sooo worn out (especially that day), with barely 2 hours of sleep and had an extremely packed schedule and were performing everyday

Yeah the choreography is really intense and in some of his fancams you can tell he’s out of breath… also when I said he gets hate for breathing I didn’t mean it literally until an hour ago lol

Live Ateez is a totally different beast. They know how to perform and I’m amazed they can dance like this and still sing live. I know some shows have had in ear issues and mic issues but they pushed through those problems without missing a beat. I saw a San fancam clip from a recent performance where San is limping in obvious pain off stage while moving to his next position. But when he is back on stage you don’t see it. He’s got performance face on and kills it. I know Ateez is not the only group that works hard-especially during comebacks-but they definitely never phone it in on the performance or for their fans.

This performance is kinda painful to watch because from different fancams or video you could see how tired the members were, so the hard breathing at the end seems intentional but it´s not (sorry for the mistakes english is not my first language)

In one of the performances for Guerilla Seonghwa was actually so tired he just knelt down on the ground after the song ended to catch his breath. (normally they do ending fairies and talk to the fans and stuff)
