I laughed out loud when you gasped. Yeah, they clean up pretty good, don't they. And they sing pretty good, too. I'm so glad they did this. Just shows how really talented they are that they can go from Ring of Fire to Listen to the Music to this, without a single stumble. Amazing.

"Try" in the title was Rob's humbleness shining through. I've seen opera singers and vocal coaches react to this, and they were all impressed. Rob's voice is more of the classical Italian opera voice, while Austin is more of the lyrical opera voice or a cross-over voice. Both men sang beautifully, but Rob! I don't think I'll ever look at Rob the same again!

I saw in person @ Met Opera Luciano Pavarotti perform this. This is a duet but it's actual 1 person. Surprised when first saw it. Robb definitely has the operatic voice from the years of training. Imagining him doing this & then End of the road or Butts Remix surprises. Robb's father was into opera & think (can't guarantee) was honor for him. During the early stages of the Sing-off while auditioning, a producer approached them. Basically, asked why not use the gimmick of Country acapella group? It stunned them as they never considered themselves 'country'. They sat down & considered this not thinking they had that slant since sang many genres. They then realized country music had Oak Ridge Boys & Statler brothers along with earlier groups. So decided to tag themselves as a country a capella group. It put a competitive edge to them & grew their audience. The Sing-Off was taped so wasn't live, but it generated interest. Sadly, I don't know what happened besides Pentatonix to the previous winners or competitors. Voice Play & Philahormics became known too.

My German mother-in-law took me to the opera in San Jose a couple of times. I didn’t think I would enjoy it because you don’t know what they’re saying. They had a screen above the stage that gave the English translation. The costumes and sets were fabulous and the music was really awesome. With her German accent I thought at first that she was asking if I wanted to go to the “Oprah” 😂😂😂. Really glad I went with her 👵🏼☮️💜

I have never been a big fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy.

Rob studied opera as part of his studies in college while Austin majored in Musical Theater. Both Rob and Austin were very nervous about putting this out there and I think that’s why the title is what it is. From watching reactors who are opera singers, it was fun to pick out the things I had learned from them. All of the guys are multitalented and they each have their own KZbin channels although Rob doesn’t really do much music on his-he and a friend do podcasts about movies.

I am really enjoying the A cappella groups that currently share their performances. They all seem to be fearless to innovate surprises by blending different genres like HF surprising rythm switch ups in Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" or VoicePlay's genre bending "Valhalla Calling". Things you don't expect to go together, in their magical hands, not only work, but become a fresh new sound that draws you in and stirs new emotions. They break rules and try new approaches stretch the limits of traditional ideas. Pleasing to the ear, always innovative , Bravo! I love it!

In an interview with Patrol Gaming, Austin said that he'd really wanted to show off "opera Rob"; however, Rob said he wouldn't unless Austin sang it with him. Austin went on to say he thought he'd been okay but that Rob was fantastic. I love the way they support each other. "Nessun Dorma" is an aria from Puccini's opera Turandot (there is an English translation available on the 'net).

I think it's great that Austin got Rob to do this and featured him on Austin's own channel. They can definitely sing anything, but they tend to put a little bit of a country "spin" on most of their covers. Of course, this one didn't really allow for that, but you can hear it in most of their covers if you listen for it.

True Opera Singers will tell you it isn't bad... but they took liberties with the Operatic genre. Frankly, having like you heard numerous covers of the Master~ Pavarotti... in Opera enunciation is everything its terribly specific... their performance is IMO beautiful and caters to the Romantic side of the piece. It is considered a more Common Version not bad but not to "standard." Which if you wanna be snooty is fine. I think it plays to the warmer emotional side and is beautiful.

Every time something new comes out from Home Free I always jump on it, the boys are always great! Please please listen to A live PBS concert recording of Jackie Evancho singing Nessun Dorma, this was her first major concert after placing second on AGT and was taped just before she turned 11 years old! kzbin.info/www/bejne/maTNeqWEl6ane6M . I scrolled through many of your videos after first seeing your reaction to David Phelps doing No More Night, and I did not see yet any reactions to Jackie so I'm not sure if you are even familiar with who she is. This video is from 13 years ago and her most current material is incredible, but being an adult now the sound that she had at 10 or 11 years old was insane! There are many recordings from this same concert That will amaze you!

Hi Britt, Your reactions are always entertaining. Yes, They sang that exceptionally well, considering this storied genre. I also feel they wished to convey their humility and not sound as though they're 'it!' Rob has had some classical training and Austin has his roots in musical theatre - so, not so surprising.... May I direct you to one particular song that Austin Brown does, on his solo channel. "Bring Him Home." The song is from 'Les Miserables' and I would be most interested in your take. Please give it a chance, should you wish.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHizYqF7fJKCirM It should be noted that Austin was recruited after they witnessed him perform with the entertainment troop aboard a cruise ship...
