80s rock bands would keep very little revenue of their album sales. So most of them used rock concert videos to sell the concert-going experience where they would keep a larger portion of the ticket, concession, t-shirt/collectible sales.

You see the recent video where Bon Jovi was at the right place at the right time to talk someone out of jumping to their death off a bridge? Very touching video, all over social media. Good thing it wasn't David Lee Roth that walked by.

I'm a Jersey guy, I've been here since 1967. This state has a multitude of music artists. Probably the most famous or recognizable is Bruce Springsteen. In my late teens, I spent quite a bit of time in Asbury Park at The Stone Pony. Now Jon and his early band The Wild Bunch used to play at an all ages club called The Fast Lane down the street. Most of his fan base wasn't old enough to drink. The Pony drew a slightly older crowd plus Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band and Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes would be there most weekends. I didn't really start listening to BonJovi until they were all over MTV.

Cool Reaction 🤘😎🤘 Bon Jovi is actually a band, not just Jon. It was formed by Jon and late bassist Alec Such. Keyboardist Dave Bryan & drummer Tico Torres are equal partners in the band. Jon does have a separate solo career but when he's with the band, he's just one of the members.

Oh, no, Maddy! 'Bon-Kitty'? 😂 This is the music I grew up with and immediately bonded with, as a kid! As I mentioned, I've got eclectic taste, so KISS Gene Simmons was my first Record, as a little kid. Huey Lewis and the News - Sports was my first Cassette Tape, and Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet was my second Cassette Tape. Bon Jovi was huge to me! I was obsessed with Slippery When Wet. Between that album and Def Leppard - Pyromania and Def Leppard - Hysteria (my 4th and 5th Cassette Tapes, respectively) my parents were ready to beat me with a wet noodle! ...then I got my electric guitar... 😳 I'm not exactly sure how I survived my early teens. I love Bon Jovi. I always crank the volume when they come up in my playlist!

I just discovered your channel about an hour ago and it's great ! I have to add my two cents here as I was at this video shoot at The Tacoma Dome in Washington state! Skid Row opened and we the crowd watched the whole thing they lip sync this song at least 12 times before they started the live show! My sister says she spotted me in the crowd I was stationed in Bremerton WA at the time and if your looking for girls in 1989 there was no better place than a Bon Jovi concert! \m/

This was back in the 80's when so many bands, including Bon Jovi, were "glam". Eddie Trunk, a respected radio host who has interviewed pretty much every rockstar has said that Jon Bon Jovi _hates_ it when people mention that period of of his and how he looked like back then.

Pleather pants? Yes, but for Halloween, some years after the 80s era of style/music passed. Along with a wig, a red bass guitar, and some chains. Pretty sure I've still got a few photos of that somewhere.

Recall buying Slippery When Wet on vinyl around the time it came out. Still have it, and played the socks off it at the time, but soon got the CD for my car. Of course, everything is digital these days until I can get my record player set up again. Mid-80's hair rock at it's finest. When New Jersey came out, it was CD only by then.

While I didn't get to see them myself until the 2000s, I consider this to be peak BJ. My brother saw them in the UK on the New Jersey tour and said the experience of seeing this live was as good as the video - with Jon being launched into the stage and the overhead walkway (which he was very close to). Sadly by the time I saw them they had kind of stripped this song back and slowed it down which was such a shame because this version seems to give incredible energy.

I’ll never not be amazed at how much these 80s bands tried so hard to be good at what they did. The hair bands get a bad wrap cause the look was always gonna get dated and old. But these guys were true masters of their craft and real experts musically. They were ultra creative and excellent musicians. It’s a shame that pride and innovation went away with these bands. Today’s bands are just bland and simply boring. And other entertainers are just a computer generated hologram. None of today’s music excites me I’m afraid.
