I used to watch Music Bank on the regular in 2013 and when BTS first came on the stage, you noticed, they just were different. I wasn't an ARMY officially until 2015 but it was thrilling to watch them perform. I saw Attack on Bangtan performed and I was watching my TV and losing my shit. They were captivating performers. If you watch the live performance from KCON 2014 of BTS(the only rookie group there) the crowd lost their minds even though there were OG groups there. Girls Generation even talked about that time and how there had never been that huge of a crowd reaction to anyone and that they knew these boys were something. BTS are humble dorks offstage but Superstar performers onstage. 💜💜💜

Me too that was also my story. It was not about I didn't think they would make it they got a lot of that from the beginning in Korea. For me my daughter and I watched the show case, but I was amazed by the different groups that It took me Attack of on Bangtan to get my intension. I was going through a Divorce and They got me so engaged that I was Lost ever since They are my sons in Korea all the way to America

Jimin is classically trained. That's why his dancing is so beautiful. Actually their choreography is what first attracted me to them. I've even heard people say that BTS' choreo was unusual enough to make them stand out from other groups at first. Watch the Halloween dance practice videos to see them "goofing off" and cracking up.

You should be proud about ballet. It’s effing hard. I hate what our society implies about it. I just rewatched the vlog of j-hope showing the cuts on his knees from this choreo and noticed him wearing knee pads in this for the first time 😅

I'm one of the few fans who loved RM's hair. Show my age. The stylist was trying to pay homage to Hip Hop until they realized Hip Hop was about telling their own story in their own style. These songs are still in my daily playlist 🤯

There are videos in the last couple of years of them watching & reacting to their old videos and interviews back then and it’s hilarious. Suga said he can’t believe they actually had fans. 😂😂 My favorite one-liner by V was when J-Hope said “look at us - you can see the passion in our eyes” and V says “that was the eyeliner” 😂😂😂

There were basically two camps when they started. There was the “omg they’re actually really good and talented” group that respected them and had potential to turn into ARMY. And then there was the “shit they’re actually good, we need to stop them” hater to full blown anti pipeline group. BTS has always stood out from the rest. They were easy targets early on bc of their small company with very limited finances. They worked so hard to make even these dance practices flawless bc it was do or die for them and their company.

it is not as easy as it may seem my friend, those boys were practicing those routines at this time for like 8-12 hours a day! sleeping 3-4 hours on the studio floor and dancing again! and even back then their routines were one of the more complicated ones in kpop! if you are that confident it would be very fun to see how well you can follow this dance , step by step ^.^ hoping to see it!

It still blows my mind that they were so good at such a young age. I mean, JK was 15, Jimin and V were 17. And considering how little experience most of them had when they joined, the progress they made from late 2010 (Rm, Suga & Hobi), mid 2011 (May for Jin & JK, Sept for V), and Jimin didn't sign until spring or summer of 2012, was absolutely remarkable. Jin, JK and V (iirc) had zero formal training or experience in vocal or dance. Just raw talent. Jimin and Hobi had formal dance training but zero vocal experience. Of course RM & Suga had rap background, but no vocal or dance. What they learned in that span of time will never cease to amaze me. They worked their asses off.

In the beginning, the focus was more on synchronicity. Everyday, Bang PD would analyse the dance practice videos frame by frame. They would spend 12 to 14 hours a day practising the choreography for days on end. At the same time, they were writing, recording and producing their music in addition to filming MV's, doing live performances, photo shoots and attending high school or university. They were exhausted and frustrated and often contemplated quitting. Needless to say, they do not speak fondly about their early years.
@colettemr
@colettemr 7 күн бұрын
I laughed when you talked about the dancing straight for 4mins. Who's going to tell him 1) they practiced for 16hrs a day, slept in the practice room and 4 of them had actual school to attend as well. 2) How Bang PD would check, frame-by-frame, to make sure each were looking and in perfect unity; and 3) How Jimin was threatened several times to be kicked out because his modern dance training was getting in the way of him doing the IDOL dancing.

To answer your question about people thinking they wouldn’t make it, yes. Back then they had a lot of hate. Because they are from a small company. Other fandoms created lots of hate and false accusations. It still is happening now unfortunately. You should check out their hardships. XCeleste has a video about their hardships from 2013-2021. It’s not an up-to-date video but it gives you the gist of what they went through.

Thank you :) That flip and hat trick was Jimin's choreography :) Jimin was trained in ballet, too, along with folk dance, jazz, and contemporary as his main. No shame in doing ballet as it's a very tough dance discipline. He also trained in hip hop and competed in local dance battles pre BTS. He can do all those flips and aerials because of his martial art training including blackbelt in taekwondo.

ok not fair, I was going to say….. In today’s headlines DaVinci was a ballet dancer in his youth, but it would have been funnier if it was someone else’s name, like the Rock or a person who would never have done that, but with DaVinci he could have & it wouldn’t have been weird Sad, but funny you made the comment about people looking at them and thinking they wouldn’t go anywhere, because they were told that constantly by haters that the would never be anything because they came from a little agency & not one of the big 3 SM, YG, JYP - but ha they showed them, now HYBE is bigger than all big 3 but together Don’t forget the 2 video’s I told you about, people are asking for that one. Good to see you back to back to back again💜

Debuted: June 13, 2013, almost 11 years ago. And this was probably a few months before . they debuted. We are Bulletproof Pt. 2 was one of their debut songs. They debuted with No More Dream and We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2, and they did a showcase with I LIKE IT, which is an RnB track. I did leave you some links I believe. 2 Cool 4 Skool(June 12, 2013), O!RUL8,2?(September 11, 2013), and Skool Luv Affair(February 12, 2014). This what what they released in their first year. They had a comeback at 3 months, and the next one at 5 months. Then they dropped a full studio album 'Dark and Wild' (August 19, 2014) after another 6 months. So, in 1 year and 2 months, they dropped four albums, not just a song here and there. And I'm not even including their pre-debut songs, mixtapes, and covers. *So they dropped about 50 songs in their first year and a half, from Debut.* Not only that, but they were the main songwriters and producers on those first albums. Of course they had help from the production team, because they were only ages 15 to 20, with not much experience yet. But SUGA and RM were the main ones songwriting, and J-Hope followed suit and was doing the same. So to say they had a few songs is a huge understatement.

Did you ever wstch the British film Billy Elliot? About a coal miner's son into ballet, brilliant, moving film. Jimin was learning contemporary dance before joining Bighit which is much the same as ballet. Back in those days they would rehearse their dance numbers for up to 14 hours a day.

Enjoyed the reaction. Apparently BTS stood out, otherwise all the main agencies would not have messed around with the attacks they gave out, it was not from just fans. I pretty sure that speaks to the quality/talent at the very beginning. Regarding dancing, I think it is great you danced, and ballet at that from a young age. Impressive. You mention starting as a young kid, elementary, remember Jin was in college and learned to dance in less than three years. Not to mention Suga and RM had little or no experience and they were older as well. Also, would you be able to be in sync with them. For me it was not just cool dance routines, it is their ability to be so in sync, and they sing while doing it. The time and energy, patience, endurance that took. There is a reason they are number one. You might want to watch, their Busan Concert ( right before enlistment).

Glad it hits better with another listen. 😊 I've had a few songs that worked like that. Not a fan initially, but after a couple listens I could appreciate it more. For "Just One Day" there are two practices, the fun one and the normal one. They do have a few fun practices, but most are normal. There are three Halloween dance practices; War of Hormone, GoGo, and 21st Century Girl, I believe. If you are going mostly in order, War of Hormone should be soon. Check out Attack on Bangtan, either live or dance practice. I believe it's on the album you are currently on. 🫰💜😊
