The lyrics of the song "Scream" are a genius double entendre. You can interpret them as referrring to witches such as those on the Salem witch trials or you can interpret them as referring to bullying. If you listen to the song again, you can see how the lyrics fit into both categories. You can see the witch theme throughout the entire video. Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are truly very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip your spine out when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 So you reacted to the whole Dystopia Trilogy. Good choice! Here's a little info about what the trilogy is about: The Dystopia trilogy is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. Scream is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and has the lines "Why do you fill your precious time with hate" and "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song? And about Odd Eye: To quote Peter Dinklage from Game of Thrones: "If you think this is going to have a happy ending, you have not been paying attention." 😉 Dreamcatcher are going a bit into the future here, extrapolating how the world would turn out if we keep doing what we're doing. People can get lost in the world of the Internet and social media and their online personas can take over their life. Dreamcatcher ask us to use our odd eye to see through the lies (on Facebook and others) and don't be fooled by the "plausible lies overshadowed by sweetness". Very deep, as expected. And the song is a banger! Here is a good guide. In the first two MVs (Scream and Boca) there are six members. In Odd Eye there are seven members. The missing member is Handong, who is Chinese and was stuck in Wuhan during the first part of the pandemic.

About the members and if there are dance/vocal/rap lines, well, they have vocal, dance and rap roles within the group but not a line. Here is how it goes: Jiu Leader, Lead dancer, Lead vocal, visual Sua Main dancer, vocalist, kinda of a subrapper Siyeon Main vocal Handong Vocalist Yoohyeon Lead Vocal Dami Main Rapper, Lead dancer, vocalist Gahyeon Rising Lead rapper, vocalist They all have their roles but all members can sing, rap and dance, so you'll often see them covering songs disregarding their roles. For example, Dami covering Someone Like You by Adele. Siyeon rapping while covering Oh My by Seventeen. And so on. They dont tend to stick to their roles to distribute their songs lines nor choosing which song they want to casually cover. The company is nice enough to make them free to choose whatever thing they want to do, so they choose their cover songs based on what songs they like or want to perform. Anyways, i hope you are ready for a long journey, cause girl there are a lot of things to cover out there lol Being an insomnia (dreamcatcher fandom) means you will never starve. Even when they are quiet preparing for a comeback, there is aways some content here and there that will catch us by surprise. There are a lot of special clips (low budget clips of their bside songs or cover songs) to watch, they also have their own reality show (Dreamcatcher Mind, in which they participated in the choosing of the events they would be doing), there are backstage material called Dreamcatcher Note and also their vlog videos by each member daily life. They show up to do vlive quite often too and it always feels very wholesome and intimate. About guides, if you dont care about spoilers, then i'd recommend the ultimate 2021 dreamcatcher guide by dreamworld. But if you care about spoilers you could watch Insomnicsy "This is...." videos of each member. There are 2020 and 2021 versions to watch. This channel is also a treasure in the fandom, they do edits of vlive highlighs and sub everything in english, they also uploaded a lot of funny moments compilations and 'introducing dreamcatcher' videos that are very fun to watch.

Well, they are 7. 8:30 JiU, Leader, lead vocal and visual. 13:35 SuA, Main Dancer, vocal former lead rapper. 14:06 Siyeon, Main Vocal. 14:54 Handong, vocal. (She was not in Korea due to COVID for the first to video. She’s Chinese and got stuck in China during the confinements. 8:07 Yoohyeon, Lead vocal. 8:21 Dami, main rapper, lead dancer 8:03 Gahyeon, vocal, maknae. That’s more or less the official roles but once you start your Dreamcatcher journey (going through all the MVs since debut, that would be Chase Me, until you reach BEcause, the latest, just in time for the next comeback, which is very fascinating) you will found out that DC is a group full of all-rounders. Everybody, have vocals, everybody dances, the choreos are insane, the music is unique and diverse, and they all are gorgeous. They actually have done songs for video games. They did Deja Vu for the game King's Raid and they did R.o.S.E BLUE for the game Girl Cafe Gun. Deja Vu is actually my favorite song of theirs and Handong totally OWNS the song with her doing the GORGEOUS pre--chorus (Handong is their Chinese member who was missing in both Scream and Boca due to her being in China at the time doing a competition and got stuck there due to Covid. The masked person in Scream represents the missing Handong). Handong was the second girl to sing in Odd Eye, btw (Handong is also the one who sings right after Dami's rap). I actually got teary eyed seeing OT7 back together again when I first watched Odd Eye! (For reference, Yoohyeon is my bias, but Handong became my bias wrecker after Deju Vu. She's totally underrated and slips under a lot of people's radar until they've seen Deja Vu because her part ALWAYS catches attention lol. It's so iconic!). So yeah, definitely going to recommend Deja Vu!

I really love Dreamcatcher. One of the few female groups I listen to and actively follow. Their title tracks are usually more rock influenced and their B-sides tend to experiment more with other genres. They're just amazing singers, especially Siyeon. Like, I NEED a Siyeon and Jongho duet. Both of them are so good, I can't imagine what they would sound like together. In a way they're the same as ATEEZ: intense on stage/with their music and dorks and crackheads off stage

dreamcatcher \:D/ the dystopia trilogy you just checked out is a criticism of the internet and social media. scream and boca address online hate while odd eye exposes all the lies and misinformation that exists online. dreamcatcher packs a lot of imagery in their mvs which can be very abstract like in scream and boca, or more obvious like in odd eye where cell phones and computers are seen. their message is that utopia only exists within oneself and by accepting yourself for who you are. perhaps the dystopia trilogy was partially inspired by the recent string of high profile idol suicides in recent years.

I swear, every song surprises you more. Dreamcatcher is a very diverse group with amazing concepts, which are almost unseen within the industry (something why I like them so much, just like BTS). I hope you can react to their Nightmare Series (Chase Me, Good Night, Fly High, You & I, What, Piri, Breaking Out) where their sound is more prominent, as well as the albums of these. They have two anniversary songs that they dedicated to their fans (Full Moon, Over the Sky). An OST for the video game Girl Gun Cafe (R.o.S.E BLUE). A special album (Raid of Dream) in collaboration for the video game Kings Raid (Deja Vu). Dami and Siyeon collaborated on an OST for a Korean drama called Dark Hole (Shadow). The welcome to dreamworld guide by dreamworld is currently imo the best and brings up a lot of little details too and material you can check out. It's also the one that's fully updated to the recent cb. So I 100% recommend that. I triple bias in this group and Dami is absolutely amazing. An actual ace if you will. And yeah they have a rapline, Dami is main rapper, Gahyeon is lead and Sue is subject rapper (she prefers to sing).

Please give them a chance to get to know them more deeply, their lyrics are deep, their choreographies are great, they know how to edit, they write a lot of the lyrics of their songs, they create choreographies, they compose, they are sooo talented. But aside from their personalities, they really are incredible, they are TOO funny, they are very chaotic, kinky, sentimental, loving, and they are a family, but they also treat the fandom as their family. Appreciate you giving Dreamcatcher the opportunity! I know there are/will be a billion comments going over the story line of the trilogy and each video. That being the case, I'll just say that all of their title tracks are story driven as part of a series or standalone. The lyrics and/or visuals are usually packed with metaphors. Sometimes things are intentionally left vague for the fans to have fun playing around with the meanings. It's pretty cool not being direct all of the time. I first heard Dreamcatcher a month ago and have pretty much fallen in love with the group and the members. They've had this concept and sound for their title tracks since their debut. You have to respect them for that alone. They're all vocalists and they're all dancers. Dami and Gahyeon are rappers (SuA was for a short stint). They have some of the tightest choreo I've seen in K-pop thus far, especially for how fast paced a lot of their music can be. Their B-sides are all over the fucking place in terms of sound. The B-sides cover lots of different genres. Rock is definitely not the only thing they do and do well. The members themselves are the most energetic and creative idols, again, that I've ever seen. I know all idols have "crackhead energy", but...not like this. They all have different personalities that compliment each other well and they've been through so much bullshit together that they really treat each other like family. Like, you can tell they aren't just groupmates, they're irreplaceably close friends. You'll understand and learn more about their tribulations over your journey. Point being, they are a special group, they truly are, and you're going to love them! Hope you're ready! Threw you a sub! 😁

Dreamcatcher is very unique. They are also queens of B-sides as they show others sides of them with those track. The “welcome to the dreamworld” guide and “this is” series (2020) and (2021) are also amusing and informative. “Chase me” was their debut song in 2017; it was the start of the 6 part (7 if you include their first Japanese release) Nightmare series. Deja Vu and Rose Blue are songs they did with video games, which is fitting since many say their songs would fit anime and video games. They actually did a song for the Kings Raid anime called Eclipse and it was their 4th Japanese release. Breaking Out, Endless Night, No More and Eclipse are Japanese title or singles. 5 of the members were originally MINX that debuted in 2014 along with my Mamamoo girls. Their official channel as all of the MVs plus a play list for their Special Clips that are so good; many of them are covers- solo, duo, trio entire group. Dreamcatcher and Mamamoo are the only girl groups I Stan whole Monsta X is the only boy group I Stan. Mainly because I believe Dreamcatcher, Mamamoo and Monsta X are unique. You won’t find me mistaking a Monsta X song for some other group; same for Mamamoo and Dreamcatcher. My biases are Siyeon- our Wolfie (main vocalist, that does the high note at the end of Boca and is blonde in Odd Eye) and Dami- our Panda (rapper- second part of first rap line, in a scream, “Hold Up, I’m the Geek. Big Paradox” in Boca). SuA- our queen and chick and JiU- our leader and pink princess rabbit (Purple in Scream) are my wreckers. Handong - our ice princess and cat was not in Scream and Boca Era stuff because she was in China for completion show. Each member has their own animal: jiu- rabbit, SuA- chick, Siyeon- wolf, Handong- cat, Yoohyeon- dog/puppy, Dami- panda, Gahyeon- fox. Jiu is the oldest and Gahyeon is the youngest. Gahyeon has pink hair in Scream. Yoohyeon has grayish hair in scream and two tone in Boca. Jiu and Yoohyeon are lead vocals (Yoohyeon MV’s covers of Perfect, touch and Secret Love song are must). SuA is main dancer, vocalist and rapper. Siyeon is main vocalist (and one of the best in all of KPop in my opinion- she slayed covers of Overdose, Speechless, we all lie, faded). Handong is a vocalist. Dami is the main rapper but she is also a vocalist (Mood cover with her and Yoohyeon). Gahyeon is rapper and vocalist. SuA and Dami were Rap line first first two songs they released as Dreamcatcher “Chase me” and “Good Night” along with their MINX days. MINX was the complete opposite of Dreamcatcher in every way, but even then you could tell they had talent.. just not a good concept. “Piril is when Dami and Gahyeon showed up as rapline; so Dami did all the rapping for their 3ed to 5th comebacks of “Fly High”, “You and I”, “What” .Despite their official roles, Dreamcatcher is 7 rappers, 7 vocalist, 7 visual. Their Tree of Language album- first full album and Scream’s album is a freaking masterpiece. What I love about the Dystopia trilogy is that it talks about Anti bullying, specifically cyber bullying. Even the lyrics of many of their other title tracks can apply to real world or have positive lyrics despite the “Eerie” sound. They sound amazing on album, but they are even better live.. be it on a music show or radio show. Their choreography is complex; you can find dance mvs and practice on their channel. Their dance relays are really good too. JiU and SuA are 1994, May 17 and Aug 10 respectively . Siyeon is 1995, Oct 1. Handong is 1996, March 26. Yoohyeon and Dami are 1997, Jan 7 and March 7 respectively. Gahyeon is 1999, Feb 3.

Dreamcatcher is my top favorite K-pop group ! When I went to see Dreamcatcher's New York concert 3 years ago, I was amazed at their great vocal and dance skills, and I, my friends and all the audience were enthusiastic about the three-hour performance. Congrats on discovering the greatness that is Dreamcatcher. As a fan since their debut, I'm always happy to see new people give them a chance. Welcome, You've now entered into the Dreamcatcher Zone. Enjoy your journey. - I'm sure others in the comments have given you all of the information you requested on Dreamcatcher. As such, I will suggest a couple of other female K-pop groups that you may enjoy. Though, please take your time with Dreamcatcher first, as they are well worth it. The first group is PIXY. You like the rap line, & they have plenty to spare. All of the gals are insanely talented and their songs are amazing. Their debut was "Wings". Just like Dreamcatcher, they have yet to release a bad song. Two other faves of theirs are "Addicted" and "Bewitched". The latter has a second Halloween-themed dance version video which is a lot of fun. The Second is Pink Fantasy. They dabble in Rock, as Dreamcatcher does, but they are also quite unique in their own way. Their most interesting music video is the Zombie Version of "Tales of the Unusual", while their hardest title track would be "Poison". Enjoy.

I still get chills just from listening haha Scream portrays the frustration in dealing with online haters. Boca(means mouth in another language) is when they say that "I've had enough and I will fight back". Here, they send a message that they will protect us from bullies. Lastly, Odd Eye is meant to close the dystopia trilogy with "they thought that the internet is a good place but now, we know its not" thus, the term dystopia. Sorry, I tend to ramble when it comes to them. Ah yes, Dami being the InsomniaCatcher lol (she got me too at first, don't worry) welcome to the cult, we have robes, a light staff, cookies, and cult meetings are Tuesday at midnight sharp. (kidding about the meeting time it's always Dreamcatcher time every hour of the day.) Since everyone's hooked you up with guides and some info, here's some additional recs: *relay dances* - these girls are queens of relay dances (at least for me lmao). They're always doing something crazy in the background along with straight up being crazy in the foreground. Sua dances like rent was due last week when she's up, but she'll do the craziest faces and actions in the back. Also their Abracadabra relay dance is not to be missed. (Handong decided to make up for her absence in that relay dance when she did Odd Eye and the entire fandom was *not* ready.) Also their covers - dance covers, song covers (Siyeon & Dami dropped one for Hyuna & Dawn's Ping Pong not too long ago while Yoohyeon & Dami teamed up for covering IU's Palette for the most recent one.) They also don't change pronouns. :) And if you want to be very impressed - watch their dance practices. They go *hard* in their choreography - they do basically full-body dances (most girl groups are upper body with arm movements, boy groups tend to do more footwork) and they manage to do that choreography in high synchronization, but they also do that with live vocals. (And yes, Siyeon and Yoohyeon hit those notes live easily.)

Yay welcome! I always love people reacting to Dreamcatcher. I see there are already a lot of comments so I don't know what to add, but as for this trilogy you were definitely right about it being anti-(cyber-)bullying, with Scream visually more reflecting the witch hunts of the past and Odd Eye very futuristic (while musically Scream was much more EDM and Odd Eye more traditionally rock, which is just interesting). Logical next MVs to react to would be their Nightmare series aka their first 6/7 singles (Chase Me, Good Night, Fly High (being a prequel), You and I, What, PIRI, and Breaking Out (the latter being kind of a retelling of PIRI). The entire storyline is interesting but also very symbolic and open to interpretation so don't worry too much if it's not too obvious.

Mamamoo is the only girl group that I ever have seriously listened to/hardcore stanned (they also have a unique sound to many other girl groups because their vibe is more mature and empowering. They are 3rd gen, not to mention they are some of the best vocalists (and one of the best rappers) in the industry, the winners of Queendom, like how SKZ won Kingdom, and also 3 time winners of Immortal Songs, just like Ateez! Just discovered your channel and beverage of the day?? Sign me up! And welcome to the wonderful and chaotic world of Dreamcatcher! They really are unlike any other group in the game. They've said their music is really J-rock inspired which is where some of those anime/video game vibes come from, but they also actually HAVE done songs for some video games! Their song Deja Vu was done for King's Raid, and R.o.S.E Blue was for Gun Girl Cafe. They also have a Japanese song Eclipse that's the second opening theme for the King's Raid anime. The girl with the deep voice is Dami, and she is indeed the main rapper! She's insanely powerful and I'm definitely in love with her too XD Just wait until you hear her *really* sing. Her vocals are surprisingly sweet and calm. As for guides, there are a lot of great ones out there for the group and their history overall, and I honestly recommend just picking the most recent one. But for specifically getting to know the members and their personalities, there's also the This Is series by insomnicsy that's really great. There's both a 2020 and 2021 edition now! You're right on the money saying it's an anti-bullying song and also pegging the kind of "going to war" vibes of Boca. The whole series on the meta level is specifically about cyberbullying, with the mask motif representing online anonymity, and in the music videos their "characters" are protectors of the Tree of Language who see the hate going on in our world and come to fight it-so they really are warriors going to war. And in Odd Eye, set in the future, we see that they haven't been able to create the utopia they wanted. Some have become addicted to the online world and others have just given up. But the girls have said the final message is that the reason they couldn't create a universal utopia is because it's something everyone has to find within themselves first.
