Gabriel took a rather ordinary song and with his father, made this stunning! No one knew this song. He was forced to sing it. He wanted to sing Stand Up but was told no. I'll say this here again - it is an absolute joke that he didn't make it to the finals of AGT. It is a huge loss for the show and the audience. I truly believe that it was in Gabriels best interest though - he is so much bigger than AGT and I really hope that someone in the music industry will recognize his incredible talent and pushes him further. He deserves it so much! This song is actually very fitting - he doesn't need AGT anymore and he will be stronger! 😉 I will definitely keep following this once-in-a-lifetime singer who has given me so much joy with his performances! Lots of love from Germany! ❤ p.s. from what he and his mother said on Instagram, it was not Gabriel’s choice to sing this song. He wanted to sing Stand Up from Cynthia Erivo but they wouldn’t let him. Considering that and that he didn’t know the song before either - that just adds to the level of amazement I’m feeling when I listen to his performance. Incredible!

Gabriel grew up listening to Whitney and Mariah, so he can mimic the words even though he's not fluent in English. This song was new to him, as it was chosen by the producers of the show, which is why he struggled more with the pronunciation. Initially, he wanted to sing "I Want To Know What Love Is" (Mariah's version), but the show producers had already reserved that song for another contestant. He spent two weeks requesting to sing "Stand Up" by Cynthia Erivo, but the producers imposed this song. I love his version of it, but unfortunately, most of the audience isn't familiar with it, and I believe it's one of the reasons he didn't advance to the final. The audience tends to connect better with songs they already know. While Jacob Banks is very talented, he's not as widely recognized as Tina Turner, Pink, U2, Phil Collins, and Fleetwood Mac (the artists behind the songs sung by the other contestants in the semifinals). I recommend that you react to both "Stand Up" and "I Want To Know What Love Is"; you can find both performances on his channel.

We who speak English have our probunciation of his name and Gabriel is fine with either way. His performance on this song was simply stunning. He pushed the producers hard to do a different song because he wasn't familiar with this song at all. The producers pushed back and said this is what we want you to sing. In the end they won out. He stylized that song in such an incredible way. Jacob Banks the writer and performer of this song thanked Gabriel for singing it and sending it into the stratosphere. Gabriel's audience has blown up and people cannot get enough of this man in just two performances on the AGT stage. To say that his career has taken an upturn would be the understatement of the century. The world has discovered him and they want more!!! If you go to his KZbin channel you will find over 250 songs that he has covered in stunning fashion. You will not be disappointed you did and I guarantee you that your subscriptions to your channel will increase big time if you continue to react to him Turn your translator on to read your comments of him because those who speak Portuguese love their guy. Britt, I know a little bit about troubles singing in church. This is a true story by the way. I went to church with my Momma, she elbows me, and said “Sing”! So, I start singing & out go my teeth 🦷🦷 aka dentures flying. Thank the Lord no one was sitting in front of me. Because, too my own amazement I caught the suckers with extending my hands & myself before they had an opportunity to hit the wooden floor. Since then I quit singing.
