He played with and toured with James Taylor, Phil Collins, Toto, and others. He’s 76 years old and still plays and has a KZbin page, and has a long white beard which I’m trying to match.

Will always have a special place for Tapestry...in 1971, our parents sent me and my 3 siblings back to El Salvador for a year (they were concerned about money and the turbulent times) ...waiting at the gate at SFO, Tapestry was playing somewhere, I don't know where...but my 7-year-old ears funneled the sounds into my young memory. When we landed in San Salvador, walking through the terminal, I heard it again. The same album was playing. It felt like a message to me that everything was going to be alright. Thanks Carol.

Immediate tears here! Brings me back to high school,1971,and my best friend,Deb. We used to sing this song!At a time when I felt quite unlovable, along came this girl who loved me anyway and reflected the light,I didn’t know I had, back to me. Life and marriage took her far away from me physically, but she was always one of those wonderful, precious old friends who ,as you said,Britt,I could not talk to in too long a time, yet when we DID speak,it was as if no time had passed! I always felt Deb’s friendship was further proof that God loved me! Deb died a few years ago and guess what? When we finally DO get to meet again,I know it will once again be as if no time has passed! I truly look forward to that day!❤️💔❤️

Carole King has made 25 solo albums, the most successful being Tapestry, which held the record for most weeks at No. 1 by a female artist for more than 20 years. Her record sales were estimated at more than 75 million copies worldwide. She has won four Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. She has been inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a performer and songwriter. She is the recipient of the 2013 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, the first woman to be so honoured. One of the most successful female songwriters of the latter half of the 20th century in the US, she wrote or co-wrote 118 pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Peace out.

One of JT's first big hits was Fire And Rain which was about him losing a friend to suicide. Carole wrote this song for James in response to Fire And Rain. Carole, James and Carly Simon all became big in the the music biz at about the same time, and the three of them sang together a lot on each others' albums and often in concert too. They were all very special. Thanks for sharing this one. 🙂 Oh, and Carole King was inducted twice into the R&R Hall of fame, as a song writer and as a performer. Carol King has written classic songs since the 60's, both with her now ex-husband & by herself. She started as just a song-writer (so many hit songs) and then became a performer. James Taylor is a well-renowned & respected song writer & singer (smooth as silk) & both a still doing performances. They are aging like fine wine.

James is my hero. Such a wonderful pure voice and he's come back from such horrific problems with addiction. He and Carole have been friends forever and he gave her her start by forcing her to get up on stage and perform her own songs. She was a famous songwriter along with her 1st husband before that. My favourite is Sweet Baby James, but I also love the song that got him signed Something in the Way She Moves.

James Taylor is one of the American Treasures we still have since around 1969. He has so many hits and has written so many incredible songs and so many albums that they can't be counted. He STiLL Tours....he has never stopped touring for the last 50 years! He has the most beautiful voice, and has perfect pitch every time. His plays guitar in his own special recognizable way and he is just amazing. He is like warm honey. Carole sings this also on her Tapestry album. There is also a double album and DVD that came out in the 2000's of the two of them reuniting and performing at the Troubadour in Hollywood where both got their start and they sing together and sing each other's songs.

Carole and Gerry Goffin (her writing partner) also wrote, Up On The Roof, a tune she wrote for The Drifters, circa 1962ish. It was a big hit then and worth a listen now.

Me and wife been married 38 years. We are 60. This is her very favorite, #1, artist in existence. Introduced by her brother, I think, listening to her listening to him , didn’t take long to start to dig this dude. So I took her to see him few years back. He must’ve been 70 something. Ended up being in our top 5 best concerts as a couple. She loves him and I guess I do too.

The Kennedy Center Honors with Carole King is definitely worth a watch when Aretha Franklin comes out, sits at the piano and sings an astonishing version of You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman. Carole King's song that helped Aretha's career soar. It's a wonderful thing to watch. ❤

Thank you! I love when you make the sad face at poignant lyrics. Cracks me up. I LOVE both James Taylor and of course Carole King, an amazing singer/songwriter before singer/songwriters became a thing. I learned recently on the radio (WEAA) that she also wrote Locomotion! And yes, Natural Woman, which she wrote especially for Aretha, who of course killed it. I was an adolescent when I listened to You've got a Friend. It is so beautiful and heart-warming and James' delivery is perfect for any song. At the same time, I always felt there was a back-story--like maybe he was still in love with her and wished she would call him. But maybe I was over-interpreting. I love singing along with James Taylor and Carole King.

Thanks Britt, James Taylor is one of your very best choices!! I've been listening to his performances for something like fifty years (I don't remember precisely when he released his first recording...I think it was while I was in the Navy off the Vietnam coast) and never get tired of him. His later work is also very good... just a wee bit more "mature." 😅👍

Every girl born between 1945 and 1960 had Carol's album, Tapestry. It was even more basic than "Meet The Beatles"! If the only song Carol wrote was "Will You Still Love Tomorrow", she would still be deserving of all her awards!!

Carol King: her carreer span is from early 60s do wop until now. Neil Sedaka wrote "Hey Carol" to her. James Taylor has been her friend for 50+ years. Her album, Tapestry, is one of the greatest albums of all time. It was perfectly fit for the time it was written. I remember that EVERYONE had a copy because, well. . . It was just THAT GOOD. She is one of those nice people who just love what they do and do it as well as it can be done.

Carole is one the most prodigious song writers of the 50's/60's/70's/80's. She spent the first decade of her career (late-50's to late-60's) writing songs for other artists before she launched her singing career with her Tapestry album, which is phenomenal. Do yourself a favor and google Songs written by Carole King - you will be amazed.
