When it comes to dying your hair it genuinely depends but normally the members will speak to the stylist about what colour would work for the concept or the stylist will just suggest but they don’t always have a choice especially if your a rookie sometimes. But at the point BTS is in their career I feel like they can die their hair if they need to or can just keep the same colour since they aren’t doing any major concepts. Like Jimin said that because he has dyed his hair so much he wants to stick with black for now.

at this point they can do whatever they want. two years ago, jin wanted his hair to be purple so he just dyed it himself. the members also often talk about which colours they're thinking about trying or if they want to rest their hair from the bleaching and hair dyeing so i'm pretty sure they have major input for hair colours during album concepts or they just fully choose the colours themselves generally on their own time. but this is just for bts because other companies have way different rules, kpop is rough. thankfully, bts is bts.

A group of famous Korean stylists said that rookie idols have no say in whatever hairstyle and clothes they have to wear, it's whatever the company decides that fit the concept. It's only when the group becomes more established that they have more freedom to choose whatever they want It's pretty obvious during the start of bts, if you watch their old contents how they just go along with whatever concept the company wants. Jimin himself he had to abide by the macho image at the start(which some misguided fans and his antis twist into him having toxic masculinity beforehand, which is dumb because for one, Jimin grew up Busan where uber masculinity is still rampant but Jimin still chose a major in arts highschool which rarely gets picked by males, something even Jimin points out in his rap part in Tony Montana song with Suga. And his whole family are more open-minded and affectionate. Jimin and his little brother were given neutral names. Jimin is actually more used by females. Jimin is the last to join bts and when they become a group, he's the one who started birthday traditions and being so open about affection. So to those saying Jimin was insecure or has toxic masculinity before, pls stop) but then it came to the point he doesn't have to anymore and you can see him shed away the blings and "macho man" image. His coconut hairstyle during PTD MB is his own idea as attested by Hobi. His black hair now is Jimin's decision too because he said he's making his hair rest from all the hair dye. yes! they get to choose if they want their hair dyed/cut, but the style team is the one actually picking out the colors & haircut. like the style team will say "jin i think we should cut your hair this way" and he will either agree or disagree. or they will tell the style team "i want blue hair" & the style team picks out the best shade & cut to meet their request. occasionally the members will cut or dye their own hair w/o help, but not often. they are not limited in anyway. they might need to be sweet talked into trying a bold hairstyle, but nobody controls them.

They each decide what they want their hair to look like and their makeup. JM is notorious for being very picky with how he's styled. Kook even does some of his own makeup to help the makeup artists. Edit: JM's got a blackbelt lol. We don't need to worry about how he'll handle himself in a fight. So do JK and Jin so he's well protected even if he couldn't fight 🤭
