The control the way she holds back in most of the song and really belts it out when it matters it was a gorgeous homage to Dolly with subtle nods to Whitney also Dolly wrote it Whitney made it a mega hit and Kelly is one of the FEW who can do it justice

This was tricky for her. She has said that this is one song that should never be covered. The powers that be called her to do a song on this program. And THIS was the song! She felt like she HAD to do it. She's such a talented, kind soul. It seems like her voice has been getting better and better...and better still! Last week she did a cover of the OG Eric Carmen's / Celine Dion's "All By Myself " that is soooo good. Even if you don't react to it here, do yourself a favor and check it out. It's next level. 💜. As always, an excellent reaction. 😊

It was a tribute to Dolly. Also, Kelly said she received a text that her divorce was final, minutes before going on stage. So she was very emotional.

She actually was going through a breast cancer scare and just finalized her divorce when this performance happened. I’m surprised that she was able to keep it together, honestly. She did incredible, especially given what was going on in her life at the time.

She was asked to sing one of Dolly's songs and of course she said yes. when she found out the song, they wanted her to sing, she said she freaked out.

Fun fact, this day where she performed this was also the same day she got a phone call about her divorce being finalized. This performance was super emotional and you can hear her trying to hold back the tears

Whitney Houston was a once in a lifetime talent. She is one of the top 3 female singers of all time. Maybe the best. Kelly has an incredible voice as well.
