Three people through history have done this tune first it was bach a classical composer then gary Brooker of procol harem my era then this wonderfully talented lady lucy thomas for me music this pure and hauntingly beautiful makes me feel very emotional it lifts me up i feel sad and content at the same time and so happy happy enough i can almost cry does that make sense im 74 years young and music for me is everything this was absolutely beautifully done respect to all those who have gone before

This is a great rendition of a classic song. A brave choice considering the the hardline critics out there who loved the original by Procol Harum. Also I'm amazed at the amount of commentators who insist Lucy uses autotune and pitch correction because they say her voice is too perfect. I say go and listen to the charity concert she did including a last minute duet of the Prayer. She blew the guy into the grass. Make no mistake, her "too perfect voice" is the real deal!!

Procol Harum released this song in 1967, I was in the Army at the time being shipped off to Vietnam. It became a Favorite of mine. Lucy does this just as good as they did. Love it.

I like this video and happy Lucy did one. I always loved this song however until now never really listened the lyrics. Concratulations Marie, you are the first reactor to Lucy's video of " A Whiter Shade Of Pale" Lucy is so very special with her gift for singing any Genre of Music, this song was sung so beautifully. This song was produced and recorded by a British group called Procal Harum in 1967. The best version of this song by the group was in 2006 in an outside concert with a full orchestra live in Denmark, you can see this on KZbin you must watch it so very special. The version Lucy sings was recorded by Annie Lennox in the 1990's this cover was also fantastic. Happy New Year Barbara❤❤❤

I have listened to several versions of this song on u-tube,this is the only understated version i have come across,& all the better for it,to my mind Lucy puts the lyrics & feel of the song first& foremost,where as most other versions rely on 'look what i can do' & forget the essence of the song!(even though it is nonsensical).Lucy all the way!.

I didn’t realize this was written by John Lennon. I have her first album “Encore”, it’s beautiful. She does a couple of duets on it with her younger sister. Who also is an incredible singer. I love Lucy's voice so much. ❤❤❤ Best voice in the world. ❤❤❤ Surely, there is pitch correction being done on her vocals afterward; no fault of Lucy's. It's just the industry now. You can hear if there is too much pitch correction going on. There hasn't been a live performance in a long time nor fancams or live streams to show what her voice sounds like these days. Rock music is the only genre that tends to avoid pitch correction. It's just not necessary. Daniela Villarreal Vélez, a rock singer, has sang a capella on Instagram lives in her house. No lipsyncing on her live concerts.

Yes, obviously dubbed and corrected. She has a beautiful voice, personally the production distracts me, but I’m an old guy that prefers live unprocessed tracks. I don’t think she needs it, but it seems most people don’t notice or it doesn’t bother them.

@alantaylor3030 1. It is standard industry procedure to pitch correct ALL voices, except rock singers. 2. Her voice is very good, but her releases are insanely good and beautiful. 😍 3. She rarely does public singing these days. 4. Singing each line repeatedly to get the best of each line does not entirely explain the quality of her releases. I love Lucy, and I wish her no ill will. She is likely not totally involved in the final releases. Could she sing this well? Yes. Yes, but it would be a generational talent not seen in ages.

@@alantaylor3030 She has a great voice, but the video is not live. Meaning she is not singing what you are seeing. The voice track is clearly using “autotune” or pitch correction. This is super common. I don’t think she even needs it, but it leads to a “perfect voice” sound that I don’t prefer compared to a great voice with more subtle variations and imperfections. I think it tends to be more noticeable to old folks who grew up before computerized voice correction was a preference.

@@americanswan She is a generational talent not seen in ages. She did a live appearance down near Luton England before christmas. Those who were there said she sounds just the same live as she does on here. She is doing her first concert in March in Manchester England, there are still a few tickets left, I will be there and I fully expect her to be just as good then. I believe she does not use autotune as she doesn't need it.
