Dear Juliet, I can't wait for your reaction to her recent rendition of Whitney Houston's "One Moment In Time" (studio version) and "At Last" (Etta James cover) from her live concert in Manchester! She is maturing so fast in every respect now, it's unbelievable! Although Lucy has been and always be unbelievable..! We only can speak in superlatives when it comes to this heavenly young woman's voice!

Hi Juliet...What a great reaction to a great cover by Lucy. We are all so sad that we didn't get to see Lucy's lovely smile. It always warms my heart. I appreciate your expertise in vocal analysis. By watching your reaction videos of Lucy, I have learned a lot about the extraordinary elements that one must master to achieve the level of Lucy's performance. And that doesn't even include the expression and emotion aspect. Quite frankly, I think Lucy is in the stratosphere and there are very few at this level. She is definitely a gift to humanity.

I couldn’t agree with you more, she is simply flawless😍 I hope you will do a reaction to Lucy’s latest release witch is «One Moment in time» soon. Hello Juliet, I hope you had a wonderful holiday in New Zealand, " A Whiter Shade Of Pale " by Lucy Thomas it has over 2.9 million views in 7 months since she made this cover, I love Lucy singing this famous old song from the 60's the production of this song along with Lucy's voice is just so good, Lucy has released " One Moment in Time " a few days ago which has over 500,000 views in 11 days so this one is doing well. " Unchained Melody " has over 1.9 million views in just over 5 weeks. & next month she is off to Tokyo for her live concert. So our Lucy is busy for awhile. Take care, Barbara

Great reaction Juliet! You're the best! You are the only vocal coach reactor that I will watch more than once. And speaking of the best, there is no other voice that has the combination of clarity, purity, richness, and power that Lucy's voice has. Lucy is our Earth Angel! You mentioned that Lucy would probably be more comfortable with the lower notes now. I know you have reacted to both of Lucy's performances of "HALLELUJAH". Maybe you noticed, but just didn't mention, the difference between the two versions. At about the 55 second mark in both versions Lucy sings: "Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah" and in the production studio version, at age 16, Lucy goes high, and in the live concert version , at age 20, Lucy goes low. Please do not hesitate to play and react to Lucy's earlier performance of: “I’LL NEVER LOVE AGAIN"; kzbin.info/www/bejne/apiUgqOrbr2Dgpo At only age 15, Lucy’s emotional and powerful performance was even better than the original by Lady Gaga. Best regards, Hopelessly Addicted in Arizona

Juliet - that was lovely - thank you for that analysis. Appropriate to the song. Most reactors fumble it - perhaps deer in the headlights? I suspect your reaction dance card is full. However, it would be a shame if you missed Lucy’s cover of Whitney Houston’s ‘One Moment in Time’ while it is time appropriate. Whitney released it for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Lucy released hers just before the start of the Paris Games which finish next Sunday.

This is so, so beautiful.... What I do like about Lucy (and Angelina Jordan and Emma Kok as well): they "mean business" from as soon as they starts to sing the first note. And, maybe even more important, to draw us in the emotions they want to convey to us. They are absolute masters in that department:they are not "just" singing the songs, they recite the songs. As Emma told a year ago in a interview: "I try to let the audience feel inside what I feel inside when I sing it". Well, you know at first hand how true that is.... And I have no doubt: here it is the same what happens: We got to feel what Lucy is feeling inside.

Hi Juliet. Nice analysis as usual. It’s funny that when I 1st heard Lucy sing this, I noticed her beautiful lower register. Then I noticed how the word “lonely” sounded so good in that register. And that happened again a few months ago when Sydnie Christmas sang “Tomorrow”. Again, that word “lonely” sounded so good in her lower register. Is the word “LONELY’ such a powerful word when it’s sung in the singer’s lower register?

Juliet, you're really wound up for this one. Lucy didn't let you (or me) down. right out-of-the-gate, as soon as Lucy began singing your eye brows popped, a smile came on your face, and out came Wooh! I notice that Lucy did some ornamentation on some words. Ex: "fandango" she put a little drop down at the end of the word. Then twice on "later" she went up. I had heard this melody in the Sandra Bullock film "The Net". But this video is amazing. As usual Lucy's voice and breath control really shines here. It's so smooth and pleasing, and restful. The ballerina is also very chill and restful. Although you (and I ) like the smile at the end, I think it might not have fit on this rendition.

Since we are getting off of "main stream" Lucy, how about reacting to "The CLimb" which is a duet with Martha. It is even more "up tempo" and just seems to be a perfect fit for them as a duet. The rhythm, the beat and the tempo just seems to be right in their "wheelhouse", as if they performed this type of pop song all the time. And Martha really brings her "A Game" to this one. I promise you will have tons of things to point out and react to. I was never really a fan of the song......until I heard them do it. Just a superb job by both Lucy and Martha.

The song cover should tell you everything. Here’s Tori Holub (Ha Lubb) singing lead/backing, the producer of this video and he does soooo much is James Wilkas (read the credits at the end). The song is We’ve Only Just Begun, originally by Carpenters. They went there. Enjoy and as Jim states, buckle your seat belt! Joe kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGqYnZmAptRsjLssi=MUQ8RvqAj1J2gF6n . Juliet, Lucy used her vibrato masterfully here. In many renditions she holds a note then adds vibrato as it trails off. Here she seems to be hitting the note with vibrato to begin with and then as the note trails off her vibrato decreases too. Just thought that juxtaposition of the note and vibrato made this one a little different. There's no end to what Lucy can do.

Another excellent performance from Lucy, nice low register and a very nicely put together video. But I think I still just prefer the Annie Lennox version by a small margin. While I don’t think Annie can match Lucy’s technical skills, I feel the extra years in her voice, and with more life experiences to call on, allows her to sell the song’s melancholy slightly better. I also don’t think the application of voice effects was quite as well done with this recording as it was with Annie’s.

@@mikeyitfc You are so wrong. A lot of music studio produced are minimal on it and some they don't even use pitch corrections. Depends on the artist and how much they need it. Then there is enhancements and the normal stuff that is not cheating in my opinion. It makes the track sound better. But pitch correction is a cheat and it is displayed here in every note, not just one or two where there was a mistake. If I was a super fan of Lucy I will try to make this known so producers stop doing this. So please get it right, not all studio produced sound this way, this is fully pitch corrected, every note. So this obviously does not make me to even attempt to go to a live concert of hers, because maybe I will be treated with a miming performance. Wouldn't be surprised.
