The original performed by Percy Sledge in 1966 remains one of my favorite songs to this day and you really should check it out too. Keep in mind, there was much less electronic enhancement in ‘66 compared to 1991 so the instrumental backing on Michael’s rendition is much more advanced, and Michael certainly did the original justice, but Percy’s voice……….WOW!!!

MBs version trumps the original by a country mile. Having seen MB sing this live countless times, including a duet with Sledge, his vocal and his arrangement makes Michael Bolton's cover THE definitive of the song. Indeed, Billboard voted it that way.

Just an FYI - Kiss "Forever" was not a #1 song. It peaked at #8 ... ironically despite the commercial success Kiss never had a #1 song. They only had 2 songs that reached top 10. Beth was one spot higher peaking at 7.

His original style of singing before was a metallic hardcore rock but he was not able to pull off charts for 3x during 70s even though he joined different groups for being the lead singer during that era. He changed his style of singing into Soul Ballad/ Rock Soul during mid 80s. By that time, he was able to pull of into top charts and some of his songs became no. 1 US and UK Billboard charts specially during late 80s to mid 90s. He was also a 2 time Grammy Award Winner with 4 Nominations. I hope you will react his song "Completely". It's a beautiful power soul ballad that will surely blow you away.

I've heard Percy Sledge do this in concert. I liked this version when it came out. But now my favorite version is Adam with Home Free. Still, Michael did a great job! I remember Brian Gumbel on the NBC Today Show asking him if there might be some brothers in ancestry tree. Guess in today's world you couldn't do that.

He always sang like that. He used to have long curly blond hair and was a babe magnet. I saw him live in Memphis. At one point he was standing on a small stand in the middle of the crowd. A mass of females surrounded him at his feet. One that was closest to him had her hand on his lower leg. She was about 9 1/2 months pregnant, huge. She was staring at him in total rapture. I had to laugh, but I was afraid she was going to deliver right there.

Ok, I'm choosing this video to finally say something. I just found your channel a week or so ago and I'm having so much fun watching your videos. Michael Bolton is so good and he is an awesome guy. He knows how to have fun with his voice too. You should check out just about all of his songs however the funny one ... look up "Jack Sparrow" by thelonelyisland featuring Michael. He really knows how to laugh at himself. Also, if you liked this version .... check out Home Free's version. They do so well and really do Michael's song justice (along with a bunch of other songs). If you've already done any of these, I apologize. I haven't made it all the way through a lot of your videos. Enjoying it though so thank you for sharing your reactions. PS ....
