Fun fact: Gerard has also written a few comics and the antagonist of this video is actually played by my favorite comic book writer (and presumably, a favorite of Gerard's) Grant Morrison
@Scheherasad4 жыл бұрын
He has e.g. written "The Umbrella Academy" and Netflix based a series on this comic
@weirdo337 Жыл бұрын
There’s an awesome video where Gerard interviews Grant Morrison (or maybe the other way around? I’m not sure) and it’s basically just that they sat and had a conversation in front of an audience and yes grant Morrison has always been one of his favourite comic writers

My chemical romance is really good! When they came back the whole world and internet was shocked! 😂 it's like legendary! Hearing their music gives anyone a goosebumps

I'd say "Planetary (GO!)" sounds different from their other work.
@habitsrabbit4 жыл бұрын
Most of danger days is kinda different from their other work lol as a Tumblr post once said. "Mcr album by album. Bullets: I'm dead. Revenge: You're dead. Black parade: we're all dead. Danger days: SUPER JAPANESE DANCE PARTY!!
@Favourreacts4 жыл бұрын
It's nice to see that their music is so versatile already!! This is only the 2nd song I've reacted to and it's a complete contrast to Black Parade 😳🥰
@engravedfate4 жыл бұрын
to answer your question, yes, MCR writes their own music! gerard way writes the lyrics, while the rest of the band writes the music for their respective parts (: it's largely a collaborative effort, especially since they have two guitarists! (frank iero and ray toro)
@engravedfate4 жыл бұрын
and yes, the danger days music videos do tie in together. the next and last one in the story is "Sing". here's a little background info on the overall concept/story: "the album's storyline follows a city in post-apocalyptic California in 2019, where a few outsiders called Killjoys fight against an evil corporation" (BL/ind or Better Living Industries, as was shown flashing across the screen in the music vid). also, the band members are essentially "playing" their future selves in 2019. the names party poison, fun ghoul, kobra kid, and jet star were supposed to be the names of their laser guns, but then the fans started calling the band members by those nicknames!
@Favourreacts4 жыл бұрын
Hahah that's funny that they changed the names of the members 😂 and what's the order of the "movie"
@engravedfate4 жыл бұрын
Favour the order is “Na Na Na” and then “Sing”.
@dianem85444 жыл бұрын
I'll let someone else who knows more about them answer your other questions, but! The very next video in the sequence is Sing, if you want to find out what happens to The Girl and MCR! And, yes, Gerard remains hot. :)
@kimberlydeore25304 жыл бұрын
Yes!! Pls do Sing!!

Every member of the band (Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Frank Iero, and Ray Toro) has made solo music and in some cases multiple bands.

i’m just gonna keep the multiple comments bc clearly i have a lot to say lmao but they’re very Artsy so black parade and this album (danger days) are both really involved concept albums but w completely different ideas. when they toured black parade (which was about death and war) they wore those black marching band outfits for every show, and this aesthetic was much more fun and colorful bc it was like a futuristic anti-capitalist dystopia moment
@nocturna764 жыл бұрын
my favorite line from this review "i thought it was a lady but it's gerard" lol my sentiments exactly, long-red-haired gee is by far 1 of my favorite of his many incarnations :) & yes gerard writes the lyrics while i think ray (the lead guitasrist) writes a lot of the music, & like 'famous last words' is the sequel video to 'welcome to the black parade' there's a sequel to this vid too, called 'sing' (but it's not as upbeat) & it continues the story of the video & i loved both your mcr reviews, hope to see more of them!

That's funny you say "I thought that was a lady" because he has said multiple times that he identifies more with women than men. he's never explicitly used a label to define himself but I'd like to think he might identify somewhat under the gender fluid umbrella, but that's mostly my gay ass projecting 😂🤷🏻♀️
@taramoran78644 жыл бұрын
also last comment but fall out boy had an album called save rock and roll that’s also kinda poppy like this, but they made it a visual album so there’s a music video for every song that would be cool to see you react to!

I love seeing people get into rock music, it makes me so happy. Also you're so lucky you got into them after they got back together. I remember years ago literally laying on the floor crying thinking i'll never see them live. I vividly remember the day they announced they were reuniting. It was halloween and i was sitting in math class dressed as Kenny McCormick from south park. I saw the twitter notification and was so hyped. The second class ended i ran to tell my brothers and i was crying with happiness :,)

Their music is written by all of them to varying amounts. Gerard comes up with most of the the themes and concepts (all 4 of their studio albums are concept albums, some being more obvious.) If you're interested in hearing different sides of them I would recommend the songs Mama, Cancer, Early Sunsets Over Monroeville (very sad song,) Planetary GO!, Summertime, You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us in Prison, and The Ghost of You. I'd try to keep in mind what albums these songs are each on if you listen to them as Gerard, being the main writer of the lyrics, was very depressed and was a heavy alcoholic in the beginning of their career, namely on their debut I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love and their second album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. Apologies if that's a lot to read, I've been a massive fan of MCR for a long time and thought my knowledge might help.
@devildalya4 жыл бұрын
this song was off the album Danger Days The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoy's, which is also a comic book that Gerard way wrote, all of their other albums are considered "dark, emo music", this album was the way for each band member to release all of their creativity and art into the world. they each played a huge role in how the album came together. this album is more about hope and happiness and creativity, while the other albums are more so.. therapeutic?
@instantmeg98474 жыл бұрын
Their songs that have music videos are all really good, but personally I feel that some if their best songs are the ones without videos. I recommend The End./Dead! (2 songs technically but they go together), Mama, Thank You For The Venom, It’s Not A Fashion Statement It’s A Deathwish, Vampires Will Never Hurt You, Our Lady of Sorrows, and Boy Division. Honestly they don’t really have a bad song, but these are my favorites

All of their videos are amazing. (I can do without Teenagers) so you have a lot to work with. Also consider doing some album reactions. 3 of their albums are also concept albums (to varying degrees) so there are stories woven throughout the lyrics and a narrative to follow. Also...check out the comic tie in to this album "The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys" and consider reading the Umbrella Academy comics (Also a show on Netflix, not to be missed.). All by Gerard. He's not only hot, he is pure creative genius.

This video and the music video for 'SING' are connected, so the next part of this story is continued in that video. The whole concept though is based off of a comic book idea that Gerard had, and ended up writing it later on to continue the story of the Killjoys
@pigeondance6874 жыл бұрын
i think this whole album (danger days) is a lot different from the others in terms of sound and aesthetic, it's a lot more poppy, not that it's a bad thing but i like previous albums a bit more. the concept is great though, gerard even wrote a comic book based on this album's universe. so my suggestion is react to "the ghost of you". it's about war and it's probably the most heartbreaking music video i've ever seen. but my favorite is the "i'm not okay" mv it's just so cinematic, fun and passionate. great reaction, thank you!
