There are so many amazing songs performed live by this band, General Garbriel Bardac has already posted a list of suggested videos. That's a great spot to start. You can pick the order, but I think many folks will probably suggest you stay with videos from the Live @ Wacken 2013 concert to start. " Storytime" or " Ghost Love Score" are two songs that Reactors usually start out with. But you could chose any of the 15 songs from this legendary concert, and not go wrong. They are all superb! An additional amazing fact is that all of the songs played in this concert were written for the previous two lead singers prior to Floor Jansen joining the band, yet she performs all of the songs brilliantly!

And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing here at Wacken Open Air (Germany) in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band and Marco Hietala, bassist and singer, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. Floor Jansen sings live what others are just can do in the studio. No one is more versatile and consistent live than this woman. She smokes all the so-called megastars in the pipe. From the highest tones to the deep growling (not as deep as Tatjana from Jinjer, but at least similar), from opera to musical and pop to metal, she can sing everything. And has always remained down-to-earth, no stardom, no diva posturing. This woman smashes the fence posts on her small ranch with a sledgehammer herself. Real. Absolutely warm-hearted and a true empath. She has her own channel here on youtube with which she makes her fans happy every week. Nightwish are a Finnish band but the lead singer here is Floor Jansen of the Netherlands who has been with them since 2012. They have been releasing music since the late 90's and are popular having sold around 10 million albums and embarked on many major tours. I'm an old Stones, CCR, the Who, and all the others from our glory days of rock music fan. I've loved Stevie Nicks, Janis, Karen Carpenter, Linda Ronstadt and all of our female goddess' from the past. I will say here and now that Nightwish makes the best music that I have ever heard. Floor Jansen is my favorite singer bar none. You could argue all day as to who is the best at this or that particular niche of music, and bottom line is that it is a matter of personal taste. My personal taste is to listen to Floor. Her voice is great, and her stage presence is great and somehow her mucic connects to my soul as no other that I have ever heard. You're never too old for a Floorgasm.

Floor Jansen the Queen of metal ❤️is a classically trained and a professional voice coach with at least 20 or more years of experience and can do anything from death metal growling to high opera notes and different styles and languages, her previous bands After Forever, Northward and Revamp and she was also featured in several Ayreon performances and a Dutch reality show beste zangers in 2019 and 2021, she is married to the drummer of the band Sabaton and has her own KZbin channel doing cover songs and a master class online, awesome 😎

Great reaction. Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of around four octaves +. When listening to Floor sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres, and is a Master vocal coach. She often refers to herself as a vocal nerd. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. Floor is the greatest vocalist I have ever heard her nicknames from the fans are Queen of Metal and Valkyrie Goddess. She can sing anything, any genre she chooses, including opera and growling. We say of Floor, most singers sing what they can, Floor sings what she chooses. Nightwish is such a great band all top tier of their crafts, and their composer/songwriter is Tuomas Holopainen on keyboards and his nickname is the Metal Mozart.

FYI, Nightwish (and Floor) are very popular in South and Central America, playing to sold out venues. As a start, look for songs from their 2018 Decade Tour in Buenos Aires. Great reaction! Your facial expressions were priceless…lol. However, I have to say…you ain’t heard nothin’ yet! Nightwish is from Finland, but the singer…Floor Jansen…is from the Netherlands. There is also a sixth member of the band (not seen in this video) who’s from the UK. They have been around since the mid-90s and Tuomas…keyboard player…writes most of the music and lyrics. This concert was in Germany and was in front of 82,000 people! Nightwish is considered to be a “symphonic metal” band, but I think they are a genre unto themselves as no two of their songs really sound alike and they incorporate a lot of different styles and textures into their music. A common thing is for reactors to say that every song “sounds so different!” Any live song by them…especially from 2013 to the present, while Floor has been the singer ( she’s their third), is brilliant, but I would suggest, from this same Wacken 2013 show: Ghost Love Score, Song of Myself, Storytime, and Romanticide. That’ll get you started down a very deep rabbit hole. You are also in for a treat as Floor can sing literally ANYTHING…any song, any genre, any style…from opera to death metal growls and everything in between. Looking forward to more from you!

Always interesting to have a first reaction to a different song from Nightwish as most do Ghost Love Score as their first. Ever Dream is one of their simpler more traditional rock songs. They did do some covers back in the day, they have a cover of Phantom of the Opera with their original singer Tarja and a tribute to Pink Floyd and their song High Hopes with Marco (the bassist) as lead.

I see you've discovered my 6ft+ Valkyrie Goddess. Floor is indescribable, seeing her live is all the more intense. I go to concerts 5-10 a year (pre-pandemic now it's 3 this year). Everdream is definitely their song. Composed by the keyboard player, Tuomas Holopainen and brilliantly sung here by Floor Jansen. We're not kidding if we say she is one of the best, and maybe even THE best singer in the world right now. Wacken Open Air 2013 is one of the best concerts ever recorded. Floor Jansen with Nightwish is such a good combination. This concert was magic. Most people start with Floor's favorite song Ghost Love Score live at Wacken of that same concert. Lead singer Floor Jansen (Yan-sen) has said this is one of the more challenging songs for her to sing. Yes, she has amazing breath control. She is Dutch, the band is from Finland. And, yeah, bassist Marko Hietala (Hee-a-tallah) has a great voice as well. 'That's it??' is common with this band, even their 10,14, and 21 minute songs. They seem shorter than they are and, as you will see, they are all different. Ghost Love Score from this same Wacken show is the one most reactors start with. I recommend that next. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. New Artist? Nightwish has been famous around the world since the mid 1990s! They are older than many other similar bands, like Evanescence and Epica. This clip is from the WORLD FAMOUS Wacken Open Air music festival in Germany. This performance by Nightwish was quite long and had an audience of around 80,000. The best song, IMHO, was Ghost Love Score. Watch that song, and check out other performances with Floor Jansen.
