In every reaction I see, I also notice this, in women the effect is much more emotional, perhaps because of the lyrics, his delivery, in short, everything. It's just perfect, it goes straight to the heart.

Man the lucky few that were able to be in the audience that night must have been blown away and left with a moment that will be with them forever. One of the most passionate, dramatic, soul wrenching, masterful and simply beautiful songs every sung. And it was live. Eddie Vedder is a legend. Amazing the power of music and how deep it reaches.
@thomasharris49422 жыл бұрын
Eddie was from the Pacific Northwest, the same place this genre of music (Grunge) came from. The way he over-pronounced his lyrics started a whole genre of singing, called "Yarling." Some trivia for ya.

Eddie Vedder has one of the best voices in rock. And yes, he’s very handsome. Though this performance was 30 years ago, Eddie and the band are still going strong. In fact, they’re in the middle of a world tour now. To see more, I would recommend seeing the other songs from the MTV Unplugged program, especially Porch, and State of Love and Trust. One of their most popular songs, “Jeremy”, was made famous from the video they made of it. If you watch, make sure it’s the uncensored version.

This style of music is called Grunge. They are not southern they are from Seattle , Washington .This show was recorded with acoustic instruments instead of the electrical versions you usually hear on all their lp’s. I feel sorry for this newer generation that has been subjected to auto tune and the lack of live instruments like it was back until the 2000’s . You missed out. Great reaction by the way.👍

Eddie Vedder grew up in the Chicago, Illinois area. So, if you're hearing an accent, it is probably a mixture of upper midwest/southern canada and northern plains. Chicago itself has a pretty specific accent. Vedder is one of the last big, huge voices of the 90's still around. Cornell, Staley, Weiland, Cobain... they're all dead now. If you want to hear Vedder and Chris Cornell on a single song, try "Hunger Strike" by Temple of the Dog.

Ed grew up in Evanston, Illinois, which is close to Chicago. He moved to San Diego, California when he was a teenager and fell in love with surfing and the ocean (which is a major, common theme in all Pearl Jam albums) and was a gas station attendant for a while, then one day his big break came when Jack Irons, drummer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and friend of Ed's, passed him the demo cassette that Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar) and Jeff Ament (bass) put together of 3 instrumental tracks back in Seattle, Washington, looking for a singer. Ed spent one whole day surfing and piecing together lyrics, and came up with a Rock Opera called the Mamason Trilogy, that became PJ songs Alive, Once, and Footsteps, recorded himself singing over the demo, and sent it back to Stone and Jeff. They hired him on the spot, and the rest is history, Ed moved up to Seattle, they hired Mike McCready for lead guitar, and their FIRST of many drummers, Dave Krusen, joined to finish out the quintet. That was in 1990-91, 31 years ago, and they've been together ever since.

Nobody is ever prepared for that performance, because it's a man baring his soul and being vulnerable in front of everyone, which is a very counter-intuitive thing in general. "Manly" is too often associated with showing too few emotions, when it takes a lot more courage and self-confidence to share those feelings and emotions openly. It's too bad that more men haven't seen this video, because there would be a lot more happy women out there if their men would only be so open.

The grunge genre is mostly from Seattle, Washington in the U.S. Each genre of music has it's own location where it began, like New Wave 80's music is from the UK, Blues music came from the Southern U.S. states, Hip Hop in New York. Koe Wetzel has a similar voice..it's like a clear and powerful emotional voice. He's a Texas country singer and very talented. Let me know if you ever want a song recommendation.

Alright I'm to lazy to read all of the posts below mine, Eddie Vedder is originally from the Chicago Illinois area but then moved to California. He was put together with members of the now defunct band Mother Love Bone from Seattle who's lead singer Andrew Wood died of a heroin overdose from the Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Jeremy Irons. The first video you can see of him singing with his new band is actually a tribute to the late Andrew Wood along with the Chris Cornell singing Hunger Strike.

Huh. Nobody ever seems to mention that, while the performance is amazing, Eddie messed up. "Now the air that I tasted and breathed has taken a turn Ooh And all I taught her was everything Ooh, I know she gave me all that she wore And now my bitter hands chafe beneath the clouds Of what was everything Oh the pictures have all been washed in black Tattoed everything" This verse isn't in this version. He was pissed that he messed up. He sang here: "And all I taught her was everything How quick the sun can drop away And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass Of what was everything All the bitches said, all been washed in black Tattooed everything" That's why there's more emphasis in the second time he sung the verse. He's pissed. Even so, this whole show was an amazing showcase of pure musical talent from the whole band.
