Yes, one of the strengths of Pentatonix (PTX) is how such a diverse group of people (in terms of gender, race, ethnicity, sexual identity, religion, etc) can come together to perform in great harmony. These multi Grammy winners have so much work to choose from. HALLELUJAH and 90s DANCE MEDLEY are some good choices.

Yes, they all sing. Kevin Olusola (the beatboxer) has a gorgeous tenor voice. He's usually too busy blowing our minds with his beats to have the chance to sing, but if you do "Imagine", Say Something" (where Kevin also plays the cello), and "Amazing Grace" you'll get to see him sing - not to mention his solo channel, where his covers of "Sign of the Times " and especially "Down" will have you picking your jaw up off the floor.

Kevin also plays cello & saxophone on a professional level. Between their massive vocal ranges, magic with sounds (electronic, chimes, bells, etc almost all done vocally) talent & massive personalities, PTX is probably the best of the best! 💖

People are letting you know they all sing - they do - but the reason you asked was because you thought Matt was doing sound effects. You aren't wrong. Matt is the bass, but when he (or Avi before him) has a solo, Scott - the blond baritone with a crazy range - covers the bassline. Kevin is the "percussionist"/beatboxer. When he sings, the percussion usually drops out - though PTX members can all do some basic beatboxing and there are instances where they take up the slack in some way - notably, Mitch (dark haired tenor) takes over Kevin's stomp pad when Kevin takes his solo in Sing when they are live on tour. In addition to the standard "intro to PTX" requests (Daft Punk, Hallelujah, Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine, Amazing Grace) some good starters are their medleys (Evolution of... Music, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Arianna Grande, etc), their originals (older - Love Again, Run to You, Sing; newer - Happy Now, Coffee In Bed, Be My Eyes... so many more) and truly great covers spanning the entirety of their career (Can't Hold Us, Problem, New Rules x Are You That Somebody?, Havana, Somebody That I Used To Know)... they've done just about every genre and have almost 100 official videos *before even counting Christmas song*. So, really, name a genre or kind of artist you like and fans will be able to rec better. It's *all* good... and I didn't even put 2 of their 3 Grammy-winning songs on my list.

Yeah. I mean, it's an a capella group, of *course* they can all sing; but covering all the parts when the lead changes around, requires some flexibility. When the basso profondo (Matt, on the left, in the white jacket) took the lead (way up at the top of his considerable range), the baritone (Scott, middle, blond, tall) covered the bass accompaniment part. This is something a group can only do if most or all of their singers are sufficiently talented and flexible to have multiple roles that they can step into, which is certainly the case for Pentatonix; they all have vocal flexibility in spades.

Just subscribed. The man in the white jacket is Matt, their bass since 2017. Avi was the original bass from 2011 to 2017. This has been the only member change in their 10 year history. To hear them all sing listen to Imagine (with Avi) and Amazing Grace (with Matt). You will run into their wall of sound in each of these songs.

Matt, the bass, spends most of his time as part of the rhythm section - drums and bass. So he is often doing a bass guitar part in tight coordination with Kevin, the beatboxer, who is also a tenor now and then.

Thank you for your reaction to Pentatonix (PTX). You were very enthusiastic. We Pentaholics love to witness that. To begin with my recommendation is to go to their channel where they have a deep catalog and find songs you recognize that they have covered to react to. They take a song and "Pentify" it, so you can tell it's the original, but it is also updated. They covered Elvis's "Can't Help Falling in Love". They are trying to present older songs to a young generation, but they still do new songs as well, like their "90s Dance Medley". They also have many original songs. Their newest album, "The Lucky Ones" contains all original music. Also, their Christmas music is amazing. They "Pentify" Christmas music and is a lot of fun to listen to. I look forward to your PTX reactions.

Every time I hear this (and it's embarrassing how many times I've heard this) I think "does he have a parachute for that drop?" when I hear Matt singing that "no one dares disturb the sound of silence". Most people don't really comment on that drop, which always surprises me. It deserves more attention.

Yes! Pentatonix! I am so happy to see this. You picked a great one to start with, and this was an excellent reaction. I could see it on your face every time they blew your mind. Yes, they do all sing but Kevin (vocal percussionist) only does in a few songs. He has a beautiful voice though. He also plays the cello and can beatbox while playing at the same time. One of my favorite things about them you picked up right away: the diversity. LGBTQ, Latina, Black, male, female (Check out their cover of Imagine if you get a chance.) I love a lot of a cappella groups but Pentatonix was my gateway and I’ll always love them. Hope you do more of their songs!

Yes, love the diversity of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religion of this group as it has helped make them an international success. Kevin, the beatboxer, speaks 5 languages including Mandarin Chinese. The woman, Kirsten or Kirstey (pronounced like "thirsty) is Latina but also speaks Japanese and other members speak a little of other languages. You will find songs that they do on their world tour in Korean, Japanese and French online. They have their own original songs and cover a variety of music genres including rap. You would really enjoy their covers of "Imagine" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" first but all of their songs are great. Kevin, the beatboxer, sings in other songs and has a beautiful falsetto voice. Kevin has also played Carnegie Hall twice (cello and saxophone) when he was a teenager and graduated pre-med from Yale. You would also enjoy Kevin's own site "KO" ( starting with "Down") and Mitch and Scotts site "Superfruit".

I only just discovered your reactions!! YES Pentatonix is amazing, they all have an incredible vocal range and varied Talents. Matt (current Base) often sings a lead role and Scott, (one in the middle) will step in on the Base parts. Kevin (far right) is the Beatboxer, but also plays Cello and sings Tenor. Mitch (Mullet, hair changes all the time though) has a huge vocal range and once in a while he will also step in to beatbox so Kevin can sing. Scott and Mitch and Kevin can also Rap too. they are amazing. The older videos you may see a different Base singer. Avi Kaplan. When he stepped down, he helped the group find Matt

As beautiful as this song is, it's a shock that what they are talking about is a nuclear explosion with people walking aimlessly about and those that remember write the story on tenement walls and subways halls so that people won't forget what got us there. This was a song first created by Simon and Garfunkel singing about the cold war when we feared a war with Cuba. As a child, I remember the , ' duck and cover' training that we practiced under our school desks. This was a song written in the 60's when I was a child,. But Pentatonix has made it's song for today with our hearing of certain countries practicing with missiles,not knowing where they will be aimed. Pentatonix does this song so much justice. So many of the younger generation do not remember those times and try to figure out what this song means. What I just wrote explains it all. An earthshaking reminder. If you're interested in other a capella groups, this is a good time of year to check out Glad's five-part a capella version of Joy to the World, which dates to the early nineties IIRC. Unfortunately, they never did a music video for it, so it'll be audio only, but it's quite good. (Glad started as a Christian rock band but eventually became principally known for their a capella albums. Their history of a capella music is also worth checking out, though it may be too long for a reaction video.) An even older a capella group to check is the Swingle Singers, who were active in I think the sixties.

I have been in love with Pentatonix since the signoff, you should look at some of those performances. It's hard to narrow down my favorites but, If I ever fall in love again, with Jason Durelo. Winter Wonderland, with Tori Kelly, and Jolene with Dolly Parton. I also deleted Lorde's version and replaced it with Pentatonix version of Royals.

Mitchface. Yes, Matt, the bass singer, also helps with the beat boxing. Part of being a bass. Until Pentatonix came along, no a cappella group had ever won a Grammy. Pentatonix has now won 3. BTW, they do no song on KZbin that they cannot do as well on stage.

I am so glad that you liked this video. They won their first Grammy for this. It is a great introduction to PTX (Pentatonix). If you wish to continue down the PTX rabbit hole, then I have a few suggestions. Many people have many favorites in many different categories. "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy" and "Jolene" are the other two songs they won Grammys for. For covers try "any of their Evolution series, "Mad World," (Tears for Fears), and "Imagine" (John Lennon). For original pieces I recommend "Coffee in Bed", "Sing", "Happy Now", or "Love Again". Oh and just so you don't get confused on future reactions, there has only been one member change in the 10 years they have been together.

Anni, good comment but I believe you are mistaken. I don't think they won a Grammy for _Sounds of Silence._ Pentatonix' first Grammy was for their _Daft Punk_ medley. (You are correct about the other two however.) They probably should have won a Grammy for this, and for _Hallelujah_ as well. 627 million views on the official video, and 41 million on the live Christmas Special version -- people seem to like it. :)
