Do Ren and Chinchilla - "How To Be Me". Ren wrote it after one of his best friends committed suicid. Their harmonies are OUT OF THIS WORLD! Incredible song! I only expose that info because it is not readily apparent in the video. TRUST!

Wonderful reaction Britt. My reading of the "Messiah is porcelain" line I think is similar to yours, that it is thin and fragile. Something that seems solid but is so inherently fragile it could shatter at any moment. Ren's lyrics are incredible in how much they say in so few words. Loving the reactions. Thank you. All the best from the UK

Agree, and will add that I think he is referring to it as Kintsugi. Faith may break, but can always be repaired. And in the end, the final product may look completely different than when it started.

This song was written when Ren was a lot younger, before he was properly diagnosed i think. Hi sline about porceline iss about the fact hes knelt down in front of his toilet all the time vomiting from everything his body was going through at the time. You can feel his pain and anguish in this song. You should reacct to Ocean, Humble and Diazepan to get a view on how he was coping with everything. Also, you need to check out The Hunger!

Porcelain messiah takes me back to the phrase 'praying to the Porcelain God' after drinking too much
@douglasfrazier285611 ай бұрын
My messiah is porcelain - like a figure on a shelf, an effigy, a figurine? So some kind of kitchen god, talisman, good luck charm: not of any use but to make people feel better. Well of course -- the only thing God really does is alter people's mood; and maybe we're just doing that ourselves -
@quinjesuis9187 Жыл бұрын
My Massiah is Porcelain, what does it mean to me, it's pure, lovely, translucent and ever lasting(because porcelain will last a 1000 years if properly taken care of) 😊 I have had all those questions, I asked them, God the Father as always shown me the answers, our physical lives are short; for we are born into this life over and over, because our soul lives forever, why, so we can know and love God the Father; and when this happens, this enlightenment; then at the end of this physical life where we have found this enlightenment, we get to awaken finally into the next life that is Neverending, an eternal life with God the Father as our friend, to walk and talk and sing and dance and spend eternity with with nothing but joy and love ❤️🔥

His messiah being porcelain could mean that he’s praying to some cheap statue or it’s fragile and all those things-but I think our boy Ren is saying that he just doesn’t give a fuck about religion, given all the hypocrisy that he’s pointed out, so the only praying that he does is the old cliche “praying to the porcelain God” which is a reference to someone throwing up in a toilet, because they’re on their knees in a prayer-like position, only they’re throwing up and hoping there’s an end to their current state of misery. Usually self-inflicted from a night of drinking, but Ren has said that over the course of his struggles with Lyme disease, that he spent a lot of time throwing up and had a hard time keep down his food. That’s another reason he would have to be angry at his God or creator, because if he was trapped in so much misery that seemed unending for a decade until he was finally diagnosed and properly treated, it stands to reason he might feel a bit displeased by his religious views, and would be rather cynical or completely turned off by the entire idea. Not sure if he’s an atheist or not, but he’s a smart guy who went through some horrible shit for no reason, and it’s easy to understand why someone would give it up if it’s clear that there is not God who actually gives a shit about them, and if they do exist, it’s not necessarily someone worth praying to.

I love your openness to questioning, and acknowledging the difference between religion and faith. Faith can be in anything. Religion is simply an accident of when and where you happen to have been born and raised. "ritualistic" - exactly. nailed it "conversational"...not so much, since it's always one-sided
@robert_5974 Жыл бұрын
Its a wonderful song and as a human these are questions that for me seem like ones many internalize but never out loud bc humans dont have the answers. So molding the song around a letter to God is the only way to do it. Ren is creative and a masterful artist painting images in the mind.

Faith and belief are fine as a personal way to come to terms with our mortality. As soon as you have religious 'leaders' you have a problem. Ideas of what is right and wrong, or standards of morality as dogma, as dictated by any particular religion, seems to lead, inevitably, to sectarianism and theocratic oppression. Always remember that 'freedom of religion' also includes 'freedom FROM religion'.

I don't think we should push anyone into any 1 religious box. How about we all just work on bettering ourselves? Instead of telling others how to live their lives. Not judging others on the choices they've made or have yet to make. Their income, race, nationality, sex, gender or, religion. Just treat everyone with kindness, compassion and empathy. I've been trying to better myself. It's extremely difficult trying to change any habit let alone the ones that become the most damaging. The same goes with unhealthy thought patterns. There's too much service to self in this world. And that's mostly out of survival and greed. Its no coincidence that so many people are living check to check. Week to week. It becomes that much more difficult to better oneself or others. We're so focused on paying that next bill, that we can't move forward as human beings. And this is done deliberately. I've been a selfish person all of my adult life if not most of childhood as well. Self awareness was never a strength of mine, until 3 years ago when suddenly i was without a place to call home. And had to endure the most difficult time SO FAR in my life. You quickly learn to be grateful for even the smallest thing. And that perspective IS everything. The last 2 years I've worked on being less selfish and more selfless. God willing, i will become more of a service to my family and to others as more time passes. I think I'm still 65% service of self and 35% service to others. But that's being generous. Still A LOT more work to be done. Love ya Britt! Say hello to your cousin for me! I need another reaction duet from you two! Still wishing nothing but the best for you and those you love! Peace!
