First, what a great reaction!!! Obviously, they are performing this at a Journey concert, but this is actually one of Steve Perry’s hits from his solo album. You should do yourself a favor and watch this video even if you don’t react to it. It’s phenomenal. Sherrie was Steve Perry’s girlfriend at this time and she is in the video. After they split up, Steve turned over the rights to the royalties to her.

This was a weird video. The audio recording was from the 1986 tour, but the video footage is from the 1983 tour. Oh Sherrie was released in 1984. There was a different drummer and bassist in 1986.

I have never listened to any Journey without Steve. I get that the band must go on yadda yadda, but there are some bands that if they lose the voice of the band just shouldn't. Nobody would listen to Led Zep without Robert Plant would they? The Silver Bullet Band could never release anything without Bob Seger and Journey is not the same band without Steve Perry. Some bands got lucky ACDC moved on with Brian Johnson After Bon Scott passed but Hello Brian Johnson is amazing. Just the fact that they had to find a singer who sounded passably like Steve should tell you everything you need to know.
