Those of who came of age during this time dated and fell in love to this music. Bee Gees, Barry Manilow & many others from the 70s was played during intimate dinners at home. My husband of 45 yrs passed away a year ago. Throughout the years we always played the music we listened to when we were dating and remembered those times. 70s pop music was awesome.

Let me tell you something, the Bee Gees are still awesome, to me! I’m just glad to see them getting some much deserved re-appreciation. They wrote so many songs for so many other phenomenal artists and movies, and they wrote all their own music and lyrics. They just don’t make them like that anymore.

The Bee Gees are highly underrated. Like almost any art form, when you have no idea what goes into the craft it’s easy to miss the talent. There’s an excellent documentary I saw on them a while back, *The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart*. Highly recommend! Goes into their backstory, how Barry discovered his signature falsetto, stories of different songs (including this one!), the iconic movie soundtrack and all the goodies! I love that sh**. Lol It’s also an illuminating commentary on the music industry and artists’ relationships with the culture. I rented it on KZbin but I think it’s also on Hulu Premium.

All 4 Gibb Brothers has his own distinct voice, not hard to tell them apart when heard solo. Robin had the most unique, Maurice specialized in providing the perfect 3rd-part high harmony to complement Barry & Robin's blend. Many people say Andy sounds so much like Barry but I don't find it hard to tell the diff--Andy has a huskier quality, especially as he got older, noticeable in his speaking voice as well. The true magic of the BeeGees is the blend of all 3 voices to sound like One🔥

For something completely different from The Bee Gees prior to their disco day, the song Lonely Days was released in 1970. This video is that song sung live with an orchestra the following year. Music by Maurice Gibb and lyrics by Barry & Robin. You will hear Barry’s natural voice and be surprised. I loved their 60’s music also. Video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKDKp56ZprmUf68

Barry is singing lead in this and the chorus is all 3. This along with Fanny is another misleading video. Just because the camera shows them singing dosent mean they are...thats what they did in those days it seems. The Bee Gees generally used lots of layers so its difficult to show on video accurately but this one if you watch a live performance is sung by Barry with all 3 in the chorus. By the way other than a few adlibs Barry sings this in natural voice. Here is a couple of links to live performances. 1st one 1997 kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnfKYXl5rZl5fdU 2nd one 1989 kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIKxiISqaruDia8

Barry when asked said to write a song it has to keep building in feel, and you start with an idea, then make the harmony the music, then a couple days later the lyrics. Although some songs come fast and are done and others take more time. The video is fine the way it is, women wanted to see the Bee Gees, men wanted to see a bunch of backup dancers and they almost never had any.

To me this song is the warmth of love itself, and also represents the beauty of intimacy within that love. The outside world THINKS it understands your relationship and what's best for it, but the outside world is NOT THERE during those most intimate moments, so you only have each other to show your love and commitment to - the world doesn't matter...
