Wow! What a day. This morning got news of a close and dear coworker who passed away from leukemia. Spent the day just walking around. Walked to the cemetery to visit my mother’s grave then walked to my dad’s house for dinner. Just got home and saw you dropped this video a couple hours ago. Coincidence? Who knows. All part of the healing process. Thanks Britt!

My mom, a sister and an aunt died when I was 5. I'm 50 and I have stories about the places I've been and the things I've done. When I had a heart attack and a stroke a little over a year ago I wasn't scared I just wanted my kids next to me so they wouldn't regret it if my surgery went bad. My life has few regrets, but mostly it's things I said or did that didn't represent my true heart.

@williamthomas75097 ай бұрын
It's important to note that he didn't learn who is dad was till he was 11 years old. Tug didn't recognize TIm officially until Tim was about 17 he had doubts that Tim was his son. They were estranged as much as they had no relationship at all. They did finally connect and built a good relationship. Tug actually gave Tim's career a boost by reaching out to record producer in Nashville. He also bought Tim a tour bus for him and his band before Tim got his record deal.

I believe Tim chose to record this song because his Dad (Who he didn't know growing up) had died, in 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer. His Dad, known as Tug, was a 20 year Major League Baseball Pitcher. A very well decorated one at that. At age 11, in 1978, Tim learned the identity of his father, but, deep into the late chapters of his baseball career, Tug denied parentship. Seven years later, after he retired, Tug found Tim and owned up to being Tim's father. They had a wonderful relationship from then, on. Tug spent his last days at Tim and Faith's home, where he died in 2004.

So glad you're listening to this! Always thought you'd enjoy it on several levels. This songs builds really well! Tim has a lot of really deep, powerful songs, but I think this might be the best one. We can all learn from it! I believe McGraw really wants to help people through his music, whether that means "just" entertaining them, or teaching something important. A similar song is Rodney Atkins "if You're Going Thru Hell (Keep on Going)". But have you listened to some of Tim's earlier songs? "Indian Outlaw" is a JAM.

Tim McGraw did in fact do this song in honor of his father who passed away at the age of 59. His father was Tug McGraw, who was a pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies. He was the closer when they won the World Series in 1980. Tim was the product of a one night encounter with Tim’s mother while Tug was in the minor leagues. I live about 5 minutes from where Tug lived during his playing days and would often see him on the streets or in a restaurant with his family!

Back in April, I went into the hospital thinking I'd contracted pneumonia. Turns out I was in total heart failure and needed a transplant. Here is it September and I am still recovering, but I've also reconnected with my kids, become the best friend my baby brothe always wanted, and told my ex-wife -- who is herself struggling with cancer right now -- that I still love her despite everything and while I know we don't work as a marrier couple, if she needs a friend I'm there. I've been taking advantage of living on the beach (I'm in Florida, on the Atlantic coast), and going to the zoo a lot, and enjoying the roller coasters at Disney I've never ridden. I came too close to dying to not give living a try.

2 simple questions: If you knew that you were going to die in 72 hours, or 72 days, or 72 years, how will live each day, what will you do? Second, what's stopping you from living, really LIVING, and is the answer to that actually just an excuse that easier than living? Live each moment. Savour each breath. One day you will look back at all the life you didn't end up using.

A sweet older lady in my Bible study group just found out she has terminal gall bladder cancer that has spread. She has decided not to seek treatment because she’s incurable. Her attitude is so amazing. She says that she’ll just be here living and enjoying her family until Jesus calls her home. 🥹
@williamthomas75097 ай бұрын
The words to this song are so true. In March 2018 just days before my birthday I learned I have a terminal disease, it's slow, but will cut my life short by 10 years or so. A few months later one of the best friends anyone could hope for was told she had 8-10 weeks, her sister and I managed with the help of a great doctor and meds to get four years. She never complained, sadly her health didn't allow her to live like she wanted. She told me two years before she passed that it was too late to see National Parks and other things she wanted. So, just after her passing her sister and I started planning a memorial road trip. This was so Joss could visit the places and do the trip they always wanted to do. As we prepped to sell their house and buy the RV Joss started coughing a lot. Doc said no worries just your allergies, but I told her I had never heard coughing like that with allergies. Six weeks later same answer from the Doc, and again 8 weeks or so later (early June '23). Last week of August we had gone on a short trip and only been at destination for 2 days when she woke up to blood in her urine. Called the Doc, advised to come in ASAP it was normally a 2+ day drive. I drove straight through. Over the next few days, a couple of tests indicated need for a specialist ... 6 months after the first time the Doc said allergies, the new Doc said it was cancers. The same exact ones that took Jaki from us. So, ladies make sure you talk to your Gynecologist and know the warning signs of Ovarian cancer. If it's not caught early is spreads and causes a secondary primary called peritoneal carcinomas (aggressive and deadly). Stage IV, incurable, one real chance to extend life with a brutal surgery that is nicknamed the mother of all surgeries. So everyone I can not urge you all strongly enough .... LIVE don't just exist, do the things you want and are passionate about, do not worry about chasing busy things and money over living and loving ... embrace life with passion and appreciate the incredible gift that it is. As always Britt a great reaction.

Update to my previous post, my friend Joss lost her battle in an unexpected turn in mid February she went to bed feeling good and in the morning I couldn't wake her. She had gotten some type of infection that turned septic overnight. Paramedics got here quick, I was a bit behind heading to the hospital halfway there they called asking about ventilator and cpr etc ... got there they stabilized her but were honest that it didn't look good. An hour later they came to me saying I had to decide vent with no realistic chance she would ever come off or to go palliative and let her go. To have to make that decision for someone you love, someone who just hours before told me she was so excited about our planned trip ... only to then have to make the decision ... I don't wish that on anyone. Live everyday like it may be your last and be sure to tell those you love how you feel.

What a beautiful song that makes one to think about their lives and the ones they surround themselves with. Especially for those of us who are fortunate to be healthy and have this chance to say I love you; I forgive you and spend those precious moments with loved ones so once one of us is gone, the other will have that time spent to cherish and no regrets. I like that you besides the musician and the song, you have an eye also on the whole picture including what they are wearing. I remember how you loved Bobbie Gentry's look, clothing plus imitating her singing style. You put in so much input and visualization into your reactions. Growing up in a church household, and you mentioned some videos were not able to watch at home, were you allowed to state the good looks of people and your panty dropping club?
