The official video depicts the story more fully. Missing here is a key moment when she visits him in prison near the 60 month mark and says simply: thank you. It’s also powerful seeing her drive his truck all those years later. That said, I was blown away with the quality of this live performance. I can’t tell with the video obscured if it was lip synched but I don’t believe it was.👏👏👏 Tremendous story and song. We have been looking forward to you seeing this one, Britt. Thank you.

Loved this reaction. Many people get hung up on him doing this for a stranger, not me, and apparently not you either. Hardy is a phenomenal songwriter and performer. The Song "Mockingbird & the crow" is an interesting glimpse into who he is. Have not been disappointed by any I have heard.

"No greater love has a man than to lay down his life for another," -- from the bible (slightly paraphrased because the bible says, 'his friends' and not just 'another') That is exactly what he did. He put his life on hold to rescue her from hell. None of us would hesitate to stop a stranger's child from wandering into a busy roadway or falling into a pond or lake. He did the same thing for an adult. This is how I see it. She probably wouldn't have been in that situation except the system failed her. A lot of men just walk right through restraining orders and often kill when they do.

The official video is actually a mini-movie that puts powerful visuals to the lyrics. To add to the other comments... he was not bad man, he was not an evil man... he was a man who saw a need, saw an evil and acted on that need and evil. He was a man of faith (evidenced by the court scene bridge (Oh Lord have mercy on me was not asked to the court system... it was a plea to God) and visibly evidenced by the cross hanging on his rear view mirror... was his action legal, obviously not based on the trial, was it morally just.... that is up to each individual for you cannot legislate morality... but for every victim of DV, he would be an answered prayer... and for every man... the story forces the question... "what would I do?"

After they did this video, Hardy presented Lainey with a Taurus Judge ... it's the name of a handgun! My husband had one and I shot it ONCE! It shoots 20 ga. shotgun shells and has one heck of a kick!!!! I'm with you, this is a REAL man. We all know the law's hands are tied and unless he really hurts her, there is nothing they can do! Hardy took care of that for her and traded his freedom for hers!

Such a powerful song. Writing about doing the right thing, even if you have to suffer for it? Not a lot of that going on these days. Hardy isn't the best singer, there's so many AMAZING singers out there; but puts everything into it, and his songwriting is on point. Lainey Wilson, on the other hand, has ridiculous skills, and looks amazing to boot. 60 months in and would do it again? That's conviction. Also, some angels carry swords!

FYI, I went back and watched the official video. The gun he pulls from under the seat, is not a Taurus Judge, as some viewers have stated. The Judge is chambered for .45 Long Colt/.410 shot shell. The cylinder of a Judge is 50% longer than the gun he had. The video is not that clear, but it appears to be a S&W .357 Combat Master, 3" barrel. If you want to get technical.
