I always found the most haunting part of the first show was how he loved and remembered Rize as she seemed to be still alive in some way within him. As the show went on she simply disappeared, but I would like nothing more if she somehow returned and she was able to see Ken Kaneki as someone of value. If the show has deviated from the manga I'd hope they continue the series with this plot thread added.

You can think of the first season of Tokyo Ghoul as a stripped down version of the manga. If you don't know the manga, you will have a lot of fun with it. However, season 2 suddenly includes many new characters that were missing in season 1, which is very confusing.
@ryanj46072 жыл бұрын
Season 1 is a pretty good adaptation of the story, for what it covers. It gets kind of wonky with everything after that, its really jarring because of how good the manga is. Season 1 covers the manga, Root A decides to weirdly do its own thing despite having a solid A+ blueprint to follow, Re tries to come back to the A+ blueprint but drops the ball in both animation and telling the story its has to tell. The manga is absolutely beautiful which is why the way it was adapted is painful for the people who actually read the manga.

I think it's worth mentioning that Tokyo Ghoul is a good anime, as long as you haven't read the source material. I thoroughly enjoyed it on my first watch through and then came back a year or two later to read the manga, which then made me go "Yeah, okay. This is a lot better, actually." The visceral artwork and detailed panels featuring landscape shots full of tiny houses etc make it probably the most visually appealing manga I've read. The mangaka behind it is honestly one of the best at utilising page layout and changes in style to portrait emotions, mental states and pacing in general. But without all that knowledge, the anime is fairly good imho. That said, getting those two nice TG manga box sets is a good call for sure.

They do on rare occasion remake anime. I only know of a handful off the top of my head Berserk, Full Metal Alchemist, Shaman King, Hunter x Hunter, and Urusei Yatsura however I know there are several more. Anime typically serves as a way to sell manga and merchandise so it's rare to have a second run at it if the first try didn't go well. Typically remakes are done if the entire series wasn't covered like with Full Metal Alchemist/Hunter x Hunter and the anime was successful enough at pushing merch that they feel justified in doing so.

Summary to Tokyo Ghoul [ Without Spoilers ] So basically when the anime came out people were seriously excited and season 1 was worth the hype and for me even season 2 also hits really amazing BUT then I don't know god knows what went wrong they started to literally take parts out of the story like parts that were important and in season 4 it went horrible like they literally were skipping whole important parts . Like a scene would change and you would be so confused thinking "how this happened" . They even didn't use it's best OST's until final moments of the series like everything was falling apart and Tokyo Ghoul has really amazing OST's too . This is where manga was going smoothly without skipping anything of course that would make it way better then the anime . Tokyo Ghoul is a series which has humans on one side and on the other side Ghouls who look exactly like humans but have inhuman strength and powers and biggest of all they can only eat humans and other foods will be tasteless and horrible making them puke everything out . The series focuses on both sides as how ghouls are struggling to survive against a society living among humans , some being good who only try to eat humans that already died while others being menace and kill whoever they want for food . While on the other side humans don't recognizing Ghouls as another race and trying to end them like for example Ghouls can also have children while humans won't think of them as little children and will attack and try to kill them while some Ghouls who kill humans loved ones will anger the humans and make them hate the Ghouls . In this messed up world where both sides do thing their own way a college student , Ken Kaneki gets involved in both worlds as due to some events he becomes a half Ghoul and after that sees the world from both sides . He sees how Ghouls are just trying to survive and humans are on a mission to kill all Ghouls and goes to hell in life just to survive . Fun fact is season 3 itself isn't that bad . It is kinda little boring but is the season where story takes focus on the human side a little how they have been struggling and stuff . At start it is a little new things so it's cool but then after 2 or 3 episodes it gets a little annoying . When u said there are a lot of characters in 3rd opening it was because the story expands and lets us see all different factions of Ghouls and huamans .
@darrylferguson36222 жыл бұрын
The anime is good and absolutely worth watching good-- if you have not read the manga, that is. The reason it is viewed as lackluster by the fans of the manga is because the 2nd season of the anime deviated wildly from the arcs in the manga to the point it enraged fans and the 3rd season (Tokyo Ghoul: Re) basically had to act as a soft reboot for the second season, and followed the manga more closely. As for more recommendations, there are a few: - The Psycho Pass openings - Kekkai sensen openings - Konosuba openings - Pop team epic openings

Seasons 3 and 4 (aka Tokyo Ghoul:Re) are based off the sequel manga of the same name and while they stay true to the source material, they are very fast paced and confusing at times. If it exceeds the safe threshold set by the "sibyl system" then the 'enforcer/supervisors' will act according to the orders of the 'superiors'. To clarify the some of your big questions. The story of this series is set in an alternate reality where ghouls, creatures that look like normal people but can only survive by eating human flesh, live among the human population in secrecy, hiding their true nature in order to evade pursuit from the authorities. The story follows Ken Kaneki, a student who barely survives a deadly encounter with a ghoul that ties to eat him. He is taken to the hospital in critical condition. After recovering, Kaneki discovers that he underwent a surgery that transformed him into a half-ghoul. This was accomplished because some of the ghoul’s organs were transferred into his body, and now, like normal ghouls, he must consume human flesh to survive. The first season(episode 1-12) is a relatively good adaptation that covers about 1/4 of the overall story. While it’s extremely fast paced and omitted many of the inner monologues, it’s still pretty good. The second half deviates from the manga and tells a similar but different storyline that doesn’t mesh well with the rest. The following seasons adapt the second half of the manga(called Tokyo Ghoul Re) it pretends the changes in season two never happened and expects the viewer to know what really happened in the manga. It has a change in perspective and a ton of new and returning characters so that may be the cause of your feeling it was like a different show. And it’s not bad as the second season but the problems the adaptation had even back in the first season start to become glaring issues. Overall it’s still a pretty good anime especially since the music is amazing but to get the full experience with the story it be best to read the manga, maybe while listening to the anime ost. And about your question of anime remakes and problems. A lot of anime especially older ones would have problems with things like catching up to the manga and then one of three things would happen. 1) it would make up anime original stories and content or “filler”. Something most fans hate do to it stalling the story and development in I try s tracks. 2) it creates a anime original ending that tries to cap off the story as is and wraps up the current loose ends and arcs. Depending on the one’s writing it could work but many fans prefer to see the original author’s intended ending. 3) the series just ends with hopes that they may get a continuation sometime in the future. But that hardly ever happened until rather recently in the last 5-6 years. Most anime are green lit to be used as a advertisement to get people to read ahead in the manga to see what happened next. It was very rare tgst a manga would get a new adaptation after already having one. The most well known one that did was a series called Fullmetal Alchemist, which received an anime with its own original ending. Then received a new adaptation called Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. While I don’t think it was the first to ever get a remakes that followed the manga, it was still the most well known example in the community, so much so we would talk about potential new adaptations that follow the manga as “Getting the Brotherhood” treatment. However there have been more examples of remakes in more recent years.

Tokyo Ghoul is, at its core, about the conflict between Ghouls who need to eat humans to survive and Humans who kind need to not be eaten to survive. The main emotional conflict is the main character's struggle to balance what I'd say are his darker side and his humanity. The anime after season 1 goes on to change a lot of things and cut a heck of a lot of content taking away a lot impact many moments would've had if we had time to digest anything. That's not even taking into account the confusion that's caused by a lot of explanatory content being cut in the anime. Also, the manga art is phenomenal and much darker.

The best way to describe what they did to the anime in comparison to the manga: (season 1 manga adaption, season 2 filller, season 3 manga adaption) Season 1 (with a few differences) pretty much followed the manga storyline. Season 2 (Root A) decides to do their own thing and make their own ending that disregards how the original manga ended (completely skipping several arcs). Season 3 (:RE) adapts the sequel manga (by the same name) but as it's from the source material and not the filler Season 2, there is no context. No explanation to who these supposedly new characters are or why familiar characters are suddenly different.

So the reason people say the anime did a bad job is because of how it was adapted, season 1 rushed through the first half of the manga, season 2 (√A) went mostly off script and did anime original content. Years later they decided to do an adaptation of Tokyo Ghoul:re which is a sequel series. So basically Season 1 Speeds through material Season 2 is completely different from the source material Season 3+4 skips from where season 2 left off and explains nothing

Tokyo Ghoul is about A Freshman college student who is attacked by a “ghoul” (basically a vampire that feeds on human flesh). During the attack both are fatally injured. He later receives an organ transplant from the ghoul to save his life, becoming part monster himself. Manga is so much better. The issue people in the community seem to have is that S2 goes so far off the manga that S3 - S4 don’t really make any sense. Also, I haven’t seen anyone comment this but please react to Ranking Of Kings Openings or for your OST suggestion Hiroyuki Sawano’s OST for Eighty-Six is really good ❤ keep up your reactions and twitch, I REALLY loving your content.

All the seasons are trash , we can easily argue that , the main point is they made of this story a shonen instead of a seinen

@@BrayanCCG I really don’t understand what they were thinking tbh

The anime decided to turn it into a battle shounen instead of seinen that's mostly about the characters and story with the fights being secondary.

Gotta do Guilty Crown, Owari no Seraph, Elfen Lied, Blue Exorcist, Bungou Stray Dogs, Parasyte: The Maxim, Skeleton Knight in Another World, Black Butler, The Irregular at Magic High School, Psycho Pass, Promised Neverland, Made in Abyss... Tokyo Ghoul is a must watch, imo. The characters and story and music.

The first season adapts about 66 chapters into 12 episodes. The second season √A ''adapts'' the rest of the manga which has 143 chapters into another 12 episodes. That's 77 chapters + epilogue into just 12 episodes, but most of the stuff from the manga is cut and changed since most of √A is anime original. In comparison, Black clover's first 143 chapters were adapted into 92 episodes, Naruto's first 143 chapters were adapted into 82 episodes, Bleach's 144 chapters into 52 episodes, you get the point. So adapting 143 chapters into 24 episodes and expecting it to be any good is a bit unrealistic, but not impossible. But it gets worse... The third and fourth season adapts Tokyo ghoul:re 179 chapters into 24 episodes. For comparison, try to squeeze an elephant into a shoebox and see how that goes. All in all, Tokyo ghoul's total 322 chapters were squashed into a total of 48 episodes. For a bit of comparison again, episode 48 in HunterxHunter's 2011 adaptation is somewhere in the middle of Phantom Troupe arc, adapting about 88 chapters. Chapter 322 was adapted into episode 138... Just put that into perspective...

the series that left disappointment me were Rosario vampire, black cat, and Tokyo ghoul. Then we have series like this where the series of the anime was going on with the manga being late or behind by the weekly release schedule: Tokyo ghoul, Fullmetal alchemist was later redone into the brotherhood, Helsing become Helsing ultimate, which was an issue with a lot of shounen series like bleach and naruto was catching up to the manga so they both needed fillers to allow the manga to catch up at the time which causes some issues with the anime.

I do think it is still worth watching Tokyo Ghoul. I would highly suggest after watching Root A(Season 2)that you watch a video talking about what the Anime changed, because if you don't Re(Season 3)will not make any sense. I don't have a video on the top of my head to suggest, but that's not something to ne worried about until after Root A.

With redoing an anime, I can only think of one being Full Metal Alchemist (2003), the first run came out when the manga was still in process, so at a certain point it just went it's did it's own thing. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2010) is a complete adaptation of the manga from start to finish, redoing the canon episodes from the first anime.

One other I can sorta think of is JoJo, but it's a bit of an odd one. Back in 93 they did a 6 episode OVA of Part 3: Stardust Crusaders....and it starts halfway through that Arc, like I said...weird. We eventually got the real deal of proper anime in 2012

Only other one I could add is Dragonball Kai, other than those 2 I don't know of any other redo.

Hunter x Hunter, they continued past the greed island arc where the manga was at the time when it came out in the 90s with it's 2011 version. though it was less indepth as the original series

Fruits Basket as well! It was first adapted in 2001, but it didn’t go very far into the story and stopped right before getting into the nitty gritty. Then they remade the anime in 2019 (with help and support from the mangaka) where they followed the manga more faithfully, and completed the whole series. Btw, if you haven’t watched it yet you should really check it out! It’s an absolutely beautiful story, and you get so attached to the characters ❤

Tokyo Ghoul came out 2014, which contains opening 1 (Unravel) for season 1 and opening 2 (Munou) for season 2. The 3rd and 4th opening belong to Tokyo Ghoul: Re which continues the story but with new characters introduced. And yes, you're right about the guy being possessed.

Without spoiling anything, the reason people say the manga is better is because it is a coherent story. The anime was made while the manga was still being written and when they caught up to the point where the anime was, instead of waiting for more source material they tried to continue the story on their own. Then later they tried to tie it back in towards. So s1 for both the anime and manga setup a lot of plot points for things to come later, as well as a huge reveal of who a certain character actually is, but then the anime never did anything with them because they didn't know what was being setup. So you have all these plot points that were set and then abandoned and then in the later season you have reveals and plot points that make no sense because they WEREN'T setup in the anime. Tl;dr it's not bad because of the animation, or the voice acting, or the music, it's bad because the story got completely butchered.

On the discussion of anime redos or remakes, typically in the anime world, animes don't get redos or remakes, but if they do it's because the anime's a classic. For further explanation, for the western world, it's kinda like how nowadays Disney is turning all their older cartoons into real-life adaptations. So for the anime world, occasionally a classic gets a new, more modern take. For example, the current remake of 'Urusei Yatsura' or the remake of 'Dororo' that came out a few years ago. Hopefully this info helps answer the question.

If you are going to watch the anime, then you must first know a little bit about how the anime is ordered. I will not cover any spoilers. The manga is split into two parts. Tokyo ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul Re. season 1 of the anime titled “Tokyo Ghoul” covers the first half of Tokyo ghoul (the manga). The second season released is called “Tokyo ghoul √A”. It pics up where season 1 leaves but it is not cannon. It does now follow the manga. The following season is called “Tokyo Ghoul Re” It starts where the Tokyo Ghoul Re (the manga) starts. This means that the entirety of the second half of Tokyo Ghoul (the manga) is skipped over. Lastly there is also a season two of “Tokyo Ghoul Re” that follows the rest of the manga. If you want to watch the anime, then this is probably the best way to do it: Tokyo Ghoul -> idk find some video covering the second half of Tokyo Ghoul -> Tokyo Ghoul Re -> Tokyo Ghoul Re season 2 I hope I got everything right and didn’t miss anything. I hope it helps
