Anggun is an Indonesian singer who has started her career as a teenage singer in late 80s in Indonesia before pursue her career back in the mid 90s in France. after that, she actively release song in trilingual (English, France, and her mother tongue Indonesian)

Really really good song, same musical team as Celine’s 90s French stuff, the entire album has other great songs too, really under-rated in my opinion, it was a radio hit in France but it didn’t really catch on with the French people, pretty sure it had everything to do with Anggun being Indonesian, French people were not ready for an Asian singer singing in French (even if Anggun is a great singer), had it been sung by Celine or another Western francophone singer I’m sure it would have been a massive hit, the album as well - it was actually a bigger hit in other countries where Anggun released the English version, it probably helped alleviate a bit of the racial bias.

In 2012,she represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Echo(You And I)”. Sadly,it could only place 22nd with just 21 points. The song is in French,as is the music video,and English. The video features a cameo appearance by the late designer Jean Paul Gautheir who,I believe,also directed it as well.

Hello *Dereck,* Yes, I appreciated this singer when she outed, but unfortunately, she has yet to make a long career. At the turn of the 2000s, music became almost totally electronic. It was a 180° turn that many artists of previous decades struggled to approach. Some ended up in the ditch, forgotten there for a while. However, a few of them managed to resurface in the following decade, which returned to more hybrid music, brilliantly mixing real instruments and electronic instruments. It also seems that Angun tried it, but she never regained her former success. Peace, folks. ☮😏
