This is the last song Paul Gray had a significant involvement with before his passing. Corey originally wasn't sure about publishing it under the slipknot label as it didn't fit their theme. Paul convinced him to do it, and the rest is history. It is easily one of the most significant and emotional slipknot songs now, and every fan of corey, knows how much this means to him. Hence his extreme emotion while singing it, whenever he looks up, he's looking to Paul

Paul argued with Corey for weeks over releasing this. He said it may not fit their style but it felt right.
@demireapers10132 жыл бұрын
Interesting fact Corey and Paul wrote the song for Corey's dad because they had a terrible relationship. However, the arguments were due to the context of the song because the lyrics made it seem like the perspective of lovers instead of father and son.

Absolutely right about the theme of the song. Pain, loss, grief, even fear. Corey Taylor completely opened up in this song, not only was he (being a male and expressing feelings which even today is shot down a lot) but he said openly it was a hard one to do himself. So, the audience held him up by singing with him and that just shows how emotionally powerful Snuff is. Something so many can relate to, that negative, that grief and trying to make it positive by supporting one another. Corey went through hell and the song is about that but the way it was written, so ambiguous that anyone can attach their story to it. That's what makes it so beautiful
@mr.tarkovish25872 жыл бұрын
Corey Taylor was a guy that really made a big step in the "men not talking about their emotions" issue but it was a big step in the right direction because everyone on this earth can relate to that song but for many different reason, wether it’s a friend passing a way, a bad breakup, a toxic relationship, etc.

Yeah, I have never really gotten into other Slipknot work, but "Snuff" hooked me from the moment I first heard it and it holds a place in my playlist I set aside explicitly for lancing emotional boils that build up inside over time. Although the import of the songs is very different, this song actually brings to mind Puscifer's "The Humbling River", maybe because it's a quieter song with a deep and kind of painful meaning. (or because they're on the same playlist for me...that happens way too often, when songs that have similar emotional impacts end up on the same playlist, even if they have wildly different intentions behind them)

This guy got me through alot with his acoustic solo songs. Hesitate live at wjaf studio or something close to that is some of his best recording in my opinion. Either way slipknot is godly but keep going down the corey taylor acoustic rabbit hole too

The official video is a cinematic masterpiece. I hope no one has spoiled it for you, yet suffice to say that you will be moved in ways you could not expect.

"You never needed any help, you sold me out to save yourself" too relatable :(
